Since my mother has been here, I have always found the staff to be very caring and helpful. Great effort is made to keep mum looking clean and very smart.
The manager and her team are efficient and do an excellent job. Very happy to leave mum here in their care.

My Nanna looks the best she has in years both physically and emotionally. The staff go above and beyond and you can tell they genuinely care about the residents. The manager is an absolute angel, bought Nan presents, a cake and everything for her birthday, decorated for her and did a party!
Couldn't
think of a better place for her! So happy. Thank you all.

My sister-in-law has been at this home for just over four years. In all of this time, I can honestly say she has received the utmost care and love. She was in a very sad state on arrival with ulcerated legs, and within months with excellent care to this day, she is free of any ulceration. I, as her
sister-in-law, can only give them and the staff led by the wonder manager full commendation.

The staff are completely respectful, professional and humanitarian.
They have been a family to my husband during his stay. The personal and medical care he has received has been all that anyone could want. I consider we have been very lucky to have been placed here.

From the first phone call, I found the manager and staff excellent in every way. Very friendly, supportive, knowledgeable, but above all, caring. My mum is in a home which she never wanted. However, this is truly wonderful and the best place she could be.

My mother had been in numerous care home in the last 3 years. Ilsham nursing home was far and above the best care home she had been in.
All staff were always kind to my mother and although she was bed bound most of the time, the staff always made sure she was clean and comfortable at all times. The
food was of a high standard and the home was always warm, even on the coldest day.
A well run home with a caring attitude. 10 out of 10.

My dad became a resident at Ilsham Valley Nursing Home for end of life care. I do not believe we could have found a better place for him to end his days. As a family, we were always made to feel welcome and nothing was too much trouble. The nurses were professional and kind and were always great at
keeping us informed of any developments. The carers were cheerful and hard-working and always had a smile for everyone. It felt like a home from home. Highly recommended.

I was met along with 2 other relatives with smiles and a welcome tray of tea in her bedroom. We were to see our dear relative in a comfortable situation with a lovely window view, looking pretty and secure, chairs were provided so we could all sit and chat with tea. We met her personal nurse and other
staff who were so caring. A sad occasion turned into a happy time.

Mum is 97 years old and has been well looked after at Ilsham Valley for two and a half years.
She has presented the management with some difficult problems concerning family members and has not always been compliant herself but the problems have been well handled by management nurses and carers.

The managers, nurses and personal carers were fantastic providing superb, loving care to my father in his last few weeks. The food and services were excellent and geared to personal requirements and desires. The staff were also very helpful and supportive to both my wife and me at a time when things
are so challenging.

My mother was moved to Ilsham Valley Nursing Home about a week ago. I came over from New York where I live to make sure she was in a good place. When I first saw it, I was shocked as I'd never been in a nursing home before. Of course it is full of people who are not fully able to care for themselves.
My mother is 102 years old but fiercely independent. I looked at other places and read reviews. While I was there every day for a week, I found Ilsham Valley to be clean, well staffed, and most importantly - the people who work there are kind and caring and capable. I also found that the reviews of places that looked more posh were not nearly as good as Ilsham Valley. One of her friends works in a hospital and has visited many different homes in the area and told me this one was one of the best. She always fed wild birds at home so right away, they hung a bird feeder outside her large window in her room. By the time I left, I felt confident that my mum was in good hands and I could feel she was safe.

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.141)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.141) out of 10 for Ilsham Valley Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.2 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.896 for Ilsham Valley Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (43 Excellents x 5) + (5 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 4.896

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.245 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ilsham Valley Nursing Home is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 23 registered maximum number of service users is 4.6. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 4.6 = 0.87

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
