Primley Court Nursing Home has been providing effective, quality care for older people since 1985. Its location combines two service facilities: The Court and The View. Each facility delivers a pathway of care for people with complex or higher nursing needs, including dementia.

The services at The Court and The View are responsive and well led, offering specialist support and engagement to those with an enduring nursing condition or for people requiring higher personal care interventions.

Residents at The Court may be physically fit, but the nature of their condition may require an extra degree of supervision or support from the professionally trained staff teams who are experienced in advanced dementia care, complex nursing and clinical management of conditions, disease, disorder or injury. Personal one-to-one care services can be offered and all residents are supported by the local community multi-disciplinary healthcare team.

At The View, traditional nursing care services are offered in a Victorian villa and modern, purpose-built area set high on the hill side of Primley Park, enjoying commanding sea views across Paginton and Torbay. With an established emphasis on providing for higher nursing need services, care of long term conditions and end of life care, The View has become a top local choice for clinically accredited care services.

Staff are always friendly and welcoming, as we have built good relationships over the years. Staff have a good understanding of Mum's complex needs and challenging behaviour and are skilled and compassionate in dealing with this.

My mother-in-law stayed here for a few months. Initially, the care was adequate but as the home became short-staffed the care deteriorated rapidly. My mother was dressed in PJ tops for outings, wore other resident's clothes and polyester items during the heatwave. She was not washed properly. Often
we were given wipes or foam spray to bathe her when we returned her back. She was left in her bed during the very very early evenings with doors, windows and curtains closed. Her TV didn’t work most of the time. The home smelt of urine as soon as you walked in, abandoned baths, etc were outside the front door. No effort was made to brighten up the outside space for residents. Why would you want to put your loved ones here? Awful awful place. Shame on the owners. Disgraceful.

We would like to apologise again to you, for not meeting with your family’s expectations on this occasion. It’s unfortunate that despite your discussions with the care management team when all attempts were made to address your anxieties and resolve your concerns. This appears to have been in vain. The care sector has been affected by the impacts of Covid and resulted in limited staffing availability. The home has never operated below required staffing levels as we are able to draw upon external resource. This of course is not always ideal but does ensure the safe deliver of care. Where families wish to be involved in personal care we encourage this but do not expect this of them and of course respond to our resident's wishes, even if this means having some time in the dark. You are correct in that for a few days a bath was positioned outside, as refurbishment works were being undertaken and this would have appeared cluttered. This was removed within a few days. I am sorry this impacted on your visual experience. We do have a designated courtyard away from this area specifically for residents. We will of course learn from your feedback, address and remain mindful of your observations.

My father who has advanced Parkinson's has been brilliantly looked after with compassion, love and dignity. The house has been compassionate, understanding, caring and kind, even through the lockdown of Covid-19. All the staff have gone above and beyond to accommodate us and help my dad and our family.
Highly recommend this nursing home.

Our mum was discharged from hospital to Primley Court, we were apprehensive as we'd always cared for mum. The first phone conversation put any fears to rest. The Primley Court team ensured the transition was the best possible under the circumstances. Whenever we phoned we received the nothing was too
much trouble approach we felt encouraged to call as often and whenever we wanted to. Mum was in 14 days isolation, but when I dropped a few things off I was able to have an impromptu visit, I was standing outside and mum was on the other side of the glass door. Extremely grateful to the team for making this happen as it was the last time I saw mum. The care team combed mum's hair and giggled with her as I wanted to take a photo and mum wanted to look her best. It was mum's last photo as she passed away 10 days later. Thank you Team Primley for giving mum the care and support she and we needed in her final days under very difficult circumstances.

My mum was discharged to Primley Nursing Home from the hospital. Due to Covid restrictions, she has to be isolated for fourteen days, but the manager and staff went out of their way to ensure relatives were able to see Mum through the window and speak to her on the phone. She looked safe, comfortable
and well cared for. Sadly Mum passed away within a couple of week of arriving at the home, but throughout she was treated with great care and respect, especially in her final few hours.

My Dad has been a resident of Primley Court since September 2015 and in that time he has always been treated with the utmost respect and dignity. The carers, nurses and management staff are friendly and professional and seem to have endless patience with him. They know his likes and dislikes and he
knows their familiar faces. My Dad has a good appetite and appears to be enjoying the food he is served. The home is always clean and warm and I feel he is in a safe and secure environment. My Dad has vascular dementia and probably does not have full awareness of his surroundings and the people around him, but has always been shown care and devotion.

Primley View care home looked after my brother for 4-weeks. I was very pleased with his care; I don't think any more could have been done to help him through his final weeks. He was given every care, the staff were wonderful.

My Father seems very happy at this home. The staff are always friendly, attentive and very caring. There are always activities for the residents to join in if they wish to, my Father particularly enjoys the karaoke. The home have now provided a pod so I am still able to visit my Father. I would strongly
recommend this home to relatives of people suffering from dementia.

Another very warm welcome at Primley Court to visit my wife on an arranged visit. I must congratulate Primley Court on their new pod, it helps to make a visit very pleasant. My father spent his last couple of weeks in this lovely nursing home. The staff were absolutely lovely, caring, respectful and very kind. They really went out of their way to call us regularly, and they really looked after my dad so well. We were able to safely visit him, following the government guidelines,
so we could say our goodbyes. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this nursing home. One lady, in particular, was so very kind to us, and I know that my dad would have been very appreciative of the care from all the nurses. My brother and my dad's girlfriend also felt the same.

Though the last year has been very tough on all care homes, Primley Court has still provided excellent care to all the residents under very challenging circumstances. Since the Covid crisis, my husband's needs have become a lot more as he now needs a wheelchair as he has become unable to walk. I cannot
praise the staff enough for the work they have put in, always with a smile.

The staff at Primley Court have been incredible. My Dad has settled well and is so much more at peace now. Staff managed to arrange a visit in the pod for Christmas eve for my Mother, although it was very emotional, the staff also supported my Mother during the visit which was very kind. Dad was clean-shaven,
in his own clean clothes and was looking well, I have no doubt that Dad is being well looked after and is happy.

My husband had been in a Care Home in Newton Abbot for 3 months but had been transferred to Primley Court as they could not manage his irrational behaviour. Having been at Primley Court for some 6/8 weeks he appears happier and calmer with no reports of irrational behaviour. I would not hesitate to
recommend this Home as all the staff are very pleasant and helpful with any queries.
