Amberwood House is a beautiful home in Ferndown.

Residents enjoy companionship and can join in with singing, music, exercise and arts and crafts sessions. There is the opportunity for gentle gardening activities in the summer sunshine, and there is a busy pen pal scheme.
The home is registered for nursing care and staffed by dedicated nurses and health care professionals with extensive experience in caring for age-related conditions and fully trained in infection control.

It is situated very close to the community arts centre, local shops, churches and doctors surgeries.

My mother has been a resident at Amberwood House for the last nine years. The care that Mum has received has been excellent during this time. As Mum's health has deteriorated staff have adapted to her needs and take time to explain what they are doing, because of her hearing and dementia.

We are finding Amberwood House a very safe, homely and happy place for our mum to be in. Every member of staff that we have met has been very loving and caring to Mum. The food is very good but Mum would welcome more plain and simple food.

I was my mother-in-law's carer prior to her move to Amberwood House and I harboured fears that she may not receive the same care as I had been giving. Oh my goodness, I was so wrong to worry! Every member of staff, no matter which department they work in, has become our extended family. Their care,
love and devotion to all residents is wonderful to see and be a part of. Amberwood is truly a special place and the staff there all give 100%, every day in every way. All I can say is thank you from the bottom of my heart.

From the moment you arrive at Amberwood House, you are greeted with smiles and treated like part of a family. I feel so lucky that my mum now has a second family to look after her, everyone from the companions, cleaning, medical, management and carers take time out to check and engage with my mum, above
what would be considered as their normal job role. I cannot thank all the staff enough for the care and love they give to my mum and all our family.

Mum has been in Amberwood House for 2 years now. She has settled in really well. My daughter and I looked at other care homes in the area but Amberwood was the best that we saw. The staff are all excellent, from the kitchen through to the nursing staff and everyone is committed to providing the best
of care with dignity. It is very important as a family that we are secure in the fact that Mum is in the best place and with the best care and Amberwood surpasses that at every level.

The way they all care for my grandmother is beyond our expectations. The consideration of all the staff towards my grandmother is exceptional, always ready to talk and update on any matter.
As she comes towards end-of-life nowhere could be better for her to spend her final days.

My father has been a resident at Amberwood House since June 2018. The care and support he receives has always been excellent and all the staff are very supportive and friendly. When we see the manager, she is always very welcoming and takes the time to talk to us, an outstanding manager. The activities
are very good and my father particularly enjoys the minibus trips out to local places. It feels very homely and I feel confident that my father is in a safe place and looked after very well. Nothing seems too much trouble and the staff go out of their way to help.
Thank you to everyone who works there!
I would not hesitate to recommend Amberwood House, it is the best care home!

My mother has lived happily here for eleven months now. The care and attention to detail are of a very high standard. All the staff are very kind and attentive. It was the best decision to choose this home for my mother. The companion team have absolutely made a huge difference in Mum's life. The home

I cannot fault Amberwood House and all staff there. They made my mother's last few months a joy with their caring, kindness and unfailing compassion. They took in a challenge as the only place she wanted to be was 'home' and that simply wasn't possible. They patiently won her round, discovered gentle
ways to deal with the anxiety and behaviours and made her feel loved. The food was excellent. Mother regained all the weight she had lost through not eating at home.

The best decision I made for my mum was placing her in Colten. From the top management to the part-time staff. Everyone's focus is on the resident. Nothing is too much trouble for all staff whether it's medical, activities meals or just a chat. I have been so impressed with how the relatives are kept
informed of medical conditions or just chat about anything I wish to discuss with them. If you are considering a care home for a friend or relative please talk to the management and staff at Amberwood. It will be the best move you make for your loved one.

Always excellent care for my Mum. The staff are so welcoming and have always gone the extra mile to give Mum a safe, caring and dignified home. I cannot thank each and every member of staff enough. Mum recently tested for Covid and the staff either phoned or sent a text every day to update us. Thankfully
she had recovered but this is how lovely and caring the staff are.

Following many months of illness, my sister's speedy admission to Amberwood and warm, caring welcome was a huge relief. This is a very comfortable home. The atmosphere was calm and homely. She loves her room, spending time in the garden and lounge, feels safe and secure, and knows she is in the right
place. Staff are wonderful, genuinely kind, caring, compassionate, and skilled. Nothing too much trouble. With their help, my sister is regaining mobility and enjoying life again. The generous meals look wonderful. Visitors are very welcome. Amberwood has given me reassurance that my sister has peace of mind, compassionate care, and quality of life, all I could ask for.

Amberwood House offers a homely environment that is both caring and professional. It is well led by a General Manager and Health Care Manager who are both very approachable and supportive. All the staff are very friendly and go out of their way to meet the needs of their residents nothing is too much
trouble. The catering is excellent and offers a varied and appetising choice of dishes each day. Guests are allowed to visit at any time which is very flexible. Highly recommend the home.

My father arrived at Amberwood in August 2020 following a major stroke. His mental health had been hugely affected by the stroke and he was extremely unsettled. The staff at Amberwood have been wonderful and shown so much kindness and consideration to my father’s condition. The staff have been very
supportive to me during difficult times and I’ve seen an almost miraculous improvement in my dad’s condition. He is very settled and very fond of the staff led by the manager. I feel there’s excellent team morale and a strong working ethos with an emphasis on compassion. I thoroughly recommend Amberwood.
