Brook View is in the peaceful rural village of West Moors situated a few minutes walk from a selection of local shops. It is a purpose-built home with en-suite accommodation for fifty-four residents set over two floors.

Residents enjoy companionship and can join in with singing, music, exercise and arts and crafts sessions. There is the opportunity for gentle gardening activities in the summer sunshine, and there is a busy pen pal scheme.
The home is registered for nursing care and staffed by dedicated nurses and health care professionals with extensive experience in caring for age-related conditions and fully trained in infection control.

Brook View welcomes residents with a warmly furnished reception area with seating, leading to the large bright dining room. A spacious lounge overlooks the garden and a cafe serving tea, coffee and cake all day long which also boasts garden views. There is a second lounge on the first floor with a television.

The team operate a popular large activities room and the home has its own fully-equipped hairdressing salon. Residents can enjoy a selection of specialist bathrooms including a hydrotherapy bath.

Brook View was chosen for my disabled mother after viewing many equivalent care/nursing homes. Not only is Brook View a high-quality home, the staff provide exceptional care and a friendly service, in a relaxed and informal environment.
My 2 brothers and I cannot speak too highly of the service provided.

The care team went to our aunts home as a response to our call following no reply to our repeated phone calls. They discovered her collapsed in the premises. They called paramedics and assisted with her removal to hospital and then cleaned up the house. A wonderful response and extremely efficient
as we were unable to get there ourselves. Thank you!

I have been very pleased with the care given to my father during his time at Brookview (nearly 2 1/2 years to date). Any problems that have arisen have been dealt with promptly. It is appreciated that a high percentage of staff have remained constant and have therefore got to know my father and him
them. I do think that the home has suffered a little because of the frequent change of home manager over the years he has been resident. Although things continued to run well the changes in key staff have left him at times feeling unsettled.

I originally experienced Brookview in 2006 when my mother entered the home at the age of 97. She was relatively fit at this time but became increasingly fragile as she approached her 100th birthday. She died in 2009 two months short of 101. She was very happy at Brookview and always treated with respect
and kindness. Over the 3 years I visited I came to know the home and staff very well. I joined them as a volunteer in August 2010. I accompany the residents on trips out.

I know a number of residents who are very contented and grateful for the care, stimulus, concern etc they receive. My neighbour who finds physical frailty and ageing very distressing has been very well and sympathetically cared for. One carer in particular is immensely helpful and reassuring. The food
is wonderful too!


2 Comments: 1) A very lightweight alarm on neck or wrist band would have brought more immediate help regarding a fall on the first floor.
2) I heard before Christmas that several staff were leaving. I hope it isn't reflected in the care residents receive.

Thank you for your comments about the care at Brook View. Regarding the question of help after a fall, please be aware there are people around at all times who can assist. If someone has a fall while they are on their own at any time, we’ll always do our best to respond straight away to a cry for help. We are of course happy to discuss individual alarm pendants if someone has a need and wants added reassurance. Our call bell systems can facilitate that. On the subject of staff moves, people leave for various reasons including career progression. We always provide an exit interview to help with handover of duties. Please be reassured that residents are at the heart of everything we do and that includes maintaining the quality of care as staff come and go. Thank you once again for your sharing your thoughts.

The staff are exceptionally kind and helpful except as in all organisations the odd one's.
My friends all say how much better and younger I look after a year here. The food is repetitive and can be very salty although we have salt on our trays.

Staff always welcoming. Residents always acknowledged and treated with respect and helped with whatever the request. Home is always clean and presentable at all times throughout and the laundry service is fantastic. Meals are varied with the option to eat with your relative and this makes for a nice
experience for the resident. Drinks are on offer regularly with cake/biscuit also. Every department throughout this home should be proud of the service they are providing. One suggestion - drinks, biscuits, cake maybe at this time a healthy option could be added such as a piece of fresh fruit - as a family this has been a brilliant choice.

My enforced living here, I find very comfortable the staff are so caring and exceptional. The food is disappointing on occasions, which is my one complaint only.

I have been here as a resident in respite care for about 6 weeks and am happily settled, being well looked after in all ways. I have a nice room kept very clean. Staff come regularly with medicine. Food is good, visitors are welcomed.
