The Mellowes is a great place to socialise, enjoy an activity or have quiet time. The home has 45 bright and airy rooms, with rooms suitable for couples. Focus is on overall wellbeing and the team treat each resident with dignity and respect.

Residents are always free to choose what they do and where they do it, whether indoors or in the pleasant, secure garden. Friends and family can pop in at any time for a visit, a meal or to join in with what’s going on.

Far better than I expected. The whole team was very nice. I was grumpy when I came in. Felt like I had been dumped by family but not true. Loved my stay. The staff are lovely. Happy to come back for another stay.

I was transferred by ambulance from the hospital to The Mellowes Care Home for rehab during February and was in isolation for 14-days after, after which I could then go downstairs for my meals and activities. I have been very happy here and been extremely well cared for. The staff, both day and night
are very caring and helpful. All of the patients are very friendly. The meals are very good and enjoyable. The staff make one feel very secure and in a homely environment. I would thoroughly recommend this care home to anyone at any time.

In this exceptionally difficult year of coronavirus, I haven't been able to hug or touch mum since March. I speak to her regularly on the phone and she always tells me how kind the staff are how well she is treated and how comfortable she is. I've seen her on 2 distanced garden visits and she looks
well.
I know she is in safe hands, stimulated by varied and interesting activities.

My mother took a while to settle in but once she was used to the routine she was fine and she is well cared for. The staff are very kind and were exceptionally so when they organised a 100th Birthday Party for her.

All in all, a good home and Mum seems happy. Communication is something that needs to be worked on as well as more updates during coronavirus and no visits. They have FaceTime but do not arrange regular chats that reassure families. Also need to seriously decide on inside visits during covid, as only
window visits in winter!

It was such a relief to have Mum cared for in the best possible place. Such love and care with superb meals. She needed a great deal of nursing care which she certainly received. She was always treated with care and dignity as I was also. I give thanks to you all still every day.

A good last home for my relative. The best thing that can be said was said by my relative himself. He was as happy as he could be, he felt safe and well looked after and he was at ease with the future. As his relatives, we had all the help and assistance we asked for, and with a smile.

My mother was at The Mellowes for 16 months. When she arrived she was very poorly. With the care she received from all the staff at The Mellowes she became much better and was able to relax and enjoy life being well looked after. It was unfortunate that her final days were during the Covid-19 lockdown,
however, the staff were caring and sensitive and allowed me to visit a couple of days before she passed away. A wonderful team and we are most grateful.

The care my mother had could not have been better. The staff are fantastic, I cannot express how much I think of the staff in words. The home is lovely, I chose it over 2 others. My mother was happy there, her care could not have been better.

I am very impressed with the care and understanding the staff has shown to my mother and us which has been exceptional during the lockdown due to COVID-19. The most important to us is that my mother feels cared for and is happy, which I can honestly say she has felt since she has been here in The Mellowes.

My mother has been a resident at The Mellowes for almost 2 years following a stroke. She was a quiet, shy person but the staff encouraged her to eat her meals with the other residents in the dining room and to join in with the afternoon activities.

My aunt lived at The Mellowes Care Home for over seven years, all in her 90s. From the beginning, the care she received was excellent. We noticed on our visits that she was treated with great respect and kindness. Until this last year or so she enjoyed taking part in the various afternoon activities.
She liked her meals in the very pleasant dining room and was happy in her small but comfortable bedroom. She had always taken great pride in her appearance, so I was impressed to see the care with which she was helped to dress well and the attention that was paid to her hair and even her nails. All this was an indication of the dignity she was afforded and also the kindness and compassion of the staff at all levels.

The Mellowes is a lovely residential home in gorgeous grounds. Mum was there for over 4 years and we loved sitting out in the garden when the weather was dry. The carers are friendly and really care for the residents, they work so hard. There are a couple of cosy large lounges - great for when residents
have visitors and for all the fun activities and events. I enjoyed spending time with mum there and am so grateful for their kindness and care.

Thank you all at The Mellowes for my stay. It was very nice, like a 3-star hotel. The food was brilliant as was the entertainment. Thanks to the staff for our banter and also the night staff. But there is no place like home. Thanks again.

Very caring staff who work with the residents in both a loving and professional manner, always giving of their best and trying to help the residents on all occasions. The staff members work well as a team, helping each other and providing a friendly atmosphere at The Mellowes.
Excellent menu with a
variety of healthy dishes, served in a pleasant dining room. Options are always available and staff are very willing to change the choice of a resident at a moment's notice. Tea/coffee are always available.
A good selection of activities are available and staff work hard to accommodate all who are willing to take part.
Lack of a shower in my room, limited ability to feel fresh and keep clean.
Need for a full-time gardener to improve the outside appearance of The Mellowes.

I was in The Mellowes for 14 days and found it a very pleasant experience.good facilities, friendly and helpful staff. Lovely surroundings, tasty food and friendly residents. Owing to my arthritic disability I was very slow to move but the staff were all very patient with me.
Only criticism - twice
towels and flannels were removed from the bathroom and not replaced until I asked. Ditto toilet roll.

The Mellowes Care Home provided me with good care and kindness.
Many of the staff go out of their way to make Chinese New Year 2019 a memorable day with a very special Chinese meal.

Mum has been a resident for 6 months now.
During that time, her condition has worsened but the care and compassion received has been fabulous. Staff are quick to react to requests and often go "over and above" the make mum's life as good as it possibly could be.

Job Title: Registered Home Manager

Before taking up the role of Home Manager at The Mellowes, I was the Home Manager Designate at The Lindsay Bupa care home. I love to make a difference for my residents and their families and try to make each day special. I feel very privileged to work in our residents’ homes.


I am married with one son. I love water sports, especially scuba diving in my spare time and love showing the photos to our residents.

I started working at The Mellowes back in 2015. I have worked in various roles within the care home from Care Assistant to Senior Care Assistant and Financial administrator.


I have extensive experience and knowledge of the care sector over 14 years, nothing brings me more joy than making a difference in the lives of our residents.


Outside of work, I am very family-orientated and enjoy spending time with my children. I also have a hidden passion for cricket and football!

Job Title: Hr Coordinator

Joined: 2012

I began working part-time here at The Mellowes in 2012 as a care assistant, whilst also becoming a qualified hairdresser. Since then, I’ve not looked back and have worked various roles within the Home. Having spent the majority of my time here working as a Senior care assistant, I have a wealth of knowledge within the care sector.


In January 2023 I became the ‘Senior activities coordinator’ and I love my new role very much. It fills me with joy to see the residents happy and enjoying new and regular activities.


In January 2024 I became the home's HR Coordinator and I look forward to continuing my journey in The Mellowes.


Outside of work, I am very family-oriented and enjoy spending time at home.

I worked at The Mellowes Care Home for the past 8 years. I have been involved in various job roles within my time such as care, activities and now reception for the past 3 years.
I love coming to the residence home to work and chatting with the residents and family members.
