Welcome to The Mellowes.

The Mellowes is a great place to socialise, enjoy an activity or have quiet time. The home has 45 bright and airy rooms, with rooms suitable for couples. Focus is on overall wellbeing and the team treat each resident with dignity and respect.

Residents are always free to choose what they do and where they do it, whether indoors or in the pleasant, secure garden. Friends and family can pop in at any time for a visit, a meal or to join in with what’s going on.

Staff are gentle, friendly, very caring and supportive - as a result, dad feels safe and looked after.
Consequently, he has become less anxious in his inform state and able to relax in the later stages of his life.

In the fifteen months that our father was at The Mellowes, he received the very best of care surrounded by wonderful and caring staff who treated him with love, respect and dignity - plus plenty of laughter. We couldn't have asked for more, thank you.

I can always leave my husband in Bupa The Mellowes for a week's respite knowing he is being well looked after by good carers and staff that work very hard. I am always met at Reception with a welcoming smile, but most importantly, a qualified nurse is always on duty.

Having a shower and hair shampooed and blow dried.
Excellent lunch with a glass of sherry. Coffee and biscuits at 11 and tea and cake or biscuits in the afternoon.

My mother had been in the hospital for 12 weeks and eventually a place was offered at The Mellowes I initially had reservations due to the travelling I would need to do (20 miles one way) however having viewed The Mellowes I was very impressed by the accommodation offered and the helpful friendly staff.
My mother soon settled in and the transition was very smooth and organised with lots of information provide by The Mellowes team. I can now relax knowing that my mother is kept safe and cared for 24/7.

Balazs Salamon

Job Title: Registered Home Manager

Before taking up the role of Home Manager at The Mellowes, I was the Home Manager Designate at The Lindsay Bupa care home. I love to make a difference for my residents and their families and try to make each day special. I feel very privileged to work in our residents’ homes.


I am married with one son. I love water sports, especially scuba diving in my spare time and love showing the photos to our residents.

Laura Bottomley

Job Title: Deputy Home Manager

Joined: 2015

I started working at The Mellowes back in 2015. I have worked in various roles within the care home from Care Assistant to Senior Care Assistant and Financial administrator.


I have extensive experience and knowledge of the care sector over 14 years, nothing brings me more joy than making a difference in the lives of our residents.


Outside of work, I am very family-orientated and enjoy spending time with my children. I also have a hidden passion for cricket and football!

Job Title: Hr Coordinator

Joined: 2012

I began working part-time here at The Mellowes in 2012 as a care assistant, whilst also becoming a qualified hairdresser. Since then, I’ve not looked back and have worked various roles within the Home. Having spent the majority of my time here working as a Senior care assistant, I have a wealth of knowledge within the care sector.


In January 2023 I became the ‘Senior activities coordinator’ and I love my new role very much. It fills me with joy to see the residents happy and enjoying new and regular activities.


In January 2024 I became the home's HR Coordinator and I look forward to continuing my journey in The Mellowes.


Outside of work, I am very family-oriented and enjoy spending time at home.

I worked at The Mellowes Care Home for the past 8 years. I have been involved in various job roles within my time such as care, activities and now reception for the past 3 years.
I love coming to the residence home to work and chatting with the residents and family members.


In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family and going on holiday.
