Queen Charlotte is a care home specialising in dementia care. Set in a character property located amongst mature, manicured gardens, the home is decorated to offer sensory and tactile stimulation, appropriate for all stages of dementia.

The home offers spacious single bedrooms with en-suite facilities. There are a number of lounges which are ideal for watching television, socialising with friends or enjoying some quiet time.

Residents are provided with nutritionally-balanced meals which are prepared onsite, using locally sourced ingredients. The home welcomes menu suggestions from residents and encourages them to live healthy lifestyles through a good diet and physical and mental exercise.

Queen Charlotte home prides itself on offering person-centred care and takes all interests and abilities into account when providing care and organising activities and events. Residents are supported to maintain as much independence as possible.

My husband has been in the Queen Charlotte care home since February of this year and I have been struck from the beginning by the care he has received.
I visit two or three times a week and am always greeted with smiles and words of welcome by all members of staff - cleaning, cooking, caring, nursing.
I
really feel that I and my husband are part of a very caring family and I always leave with the comforting thought that he is in the best of hands.

Mum was at Queen Charlotte for assessment for two and a half weeks, after discharge from hospital. While she was there she was looked after extremely well by the caring staff. Her room was clean and comfortable and she was encouraged to leave her room and mix with others in the lounge. Whenever I visited
I was greeted by the staff and made to feel very comfortable. The staff not only looked after Mum but also supported me. Thank you all at Queen Charlotte.

The staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. I was always greeted with a smile, and we were offered tea or coffee and a cake when visiting. They were very kind and caring to my mother.
The room had a lovely view and was a nice size. The en-suite was small.
The food was a little repetitive.
The
main problem for my mum was that she was there for an assessment and the vast majority of residents have dementia. It frightened my mum when they came into her room, and she only had one or two residents that she could converse with so she felt quite isolated.
The staff treated all the patients with care and compassion, I really must stress that. The staff are the biggest asset.

We as a family were worried about my Father-in-Law coming into the nursing home, but we needn't have worried as his room is very comfortable and homely. The staff are friendly, helpful and very caring. Nothing is too much trouble. The team leader is lovely and she welcomed us and my Father-in-Law when
he was admitted to Queen Charlotte and explained everything and put our minds at rest, that we had done the right thing for him, his wife and his family. All in all, I can highly recommend Queen Charlotte as a lovely nursing home.

Carers have worked hard to engage my mother and have been very successful.
Any problems or issues arising have been dealt with promptly and the care home has kept me up to date with my mother's progress. I have also received phone calls informing me of any problems that have arisen.

Queen Charlotte Care Home have been wonderful in looking after my dear Dad who suffers from Dementia. We chose the home as they seemed very caring and the environment there suited my father's needs (lots of light and airy communal spaces and a fantastic garden for him to wander in). The home had a very
bad CQC report (along with many others) last year - Queen Charlotte informed us immediately, sent us the link to the report and called an emergency relative's meeting. They have put recommendations in place and in my opinion, are on the way up! Some of the residents there do have very complex needs and of course, in an ideal world, it would be great to have more staff however management have supported staff to ensure that they are available where and when they need to be. The home is very clean and the food excellent - I would recommend Queen Charlotte to anyone having to make that tough decision on who best might look after your relative especially if they suffer complex needs due to dementia.

Having been diagnosed with dementia and in need of specialist care, my mother moved from a residential care home to the Queen Charlotte Care Home over two years ago. From the outset, I have found that Queen Charlotte provides a homely and welcoming environment where residents are well cared for and
relatives can gain a better understanding of the condition. Facilities are very good, home cooked food catering to individual needs and preferences is served with a smile and the weight and health of residents are monitored. Criticisms raised by the CQC Inspection have been addressed by the management, who have recruited new staff at all levels; relatives have been kept informed of developments. The enthusiasm and dedication of the care staff in the lounge where my mum now spends her time is fantastic; even in the face of behaviour that can be challenging, frustrating and sometimes aggressive, they work effectively as a team, treating residents as individuals. Definitely recommended!

I then began a new journey as the deputy manager and then onto Interim Home Manager. My Name is Clinta Cleetus. I Joined In the Queen’s Charlotte nursing home as a registered nurse in 2018. I have completed my nursing degree from India in the year 2009 and worked in various hospitals until I came to the UK in the year 2012. Before starting my job as a nurse I worked as HCA and senior carer in various employers including ,care homes, NHS and prison health service which give me opportunity to understand basic functioning of health care system in this country. I am very proud and excited for my new role as clinical lead in Queen Charlotte and trying to make positive changes in everyone around me. Although I have had challenging times during the pandemic, with support of my colleagues and management I overcome them and consider those situations as learning opportunities. Without a doubt, it is our team work which leads Queen Charlotte in a better position today, and I consider this opportunity to thank everyone and request all Kingsley family for your continuing support.
