Mum has been at Acorn Lodge (part of Oakdene Care Home) for nearly 3 years and she has been superbly cared for and is happy. The dedication of all the staff is superb and they really care about the well-being of their residents. We looked at many many care homes for Mum but are so glad we selected Oakdene.
Mum's friends and family all say the same.

My mum has been at Oakdene Care Home since November 2018. She has been happy and extremely well-cared for during this time. The staff are definitely Oakdene’s biggest asset. They have all done an amazing job this year, despite the difficulties. My mum has a very small appetite but she is always kept
well-supplied with a bowl of fresh fruit in her room, which she loves. So thank you all.

I cannot speak highly enough of the hard work and dedication of the team looking after my husband. They show such care and kindness. He is so well looked after; he always looks so smart and it's obvious to me that he receives excellent personal care. They show great kindness to me when I phone and I
am very reassured he is receiving excellent care.

My Dad gets wonderful care at Oakdene and the staff have all gone the extra mile to protect the residents from Covid. There are always activities going on, the whole place is spotlessly clean, well maintained and the food is always good. Dad was at a different home before he came to Oakdene, the difference
between the two is unbelievable, thank you!

I have peace of mind that my nan is well looked after, well-fed and entertained. The staff are friendly, professional and caring and love the activities they organise along with the newsletters so we can see what she has been up too and what's planned. Well done to you all.

I cannot praise all the staff at Oakdene Acorn Lodge for the care and support to my mother in this very trying time. I am able to visit mum at the moment with the help of a special room being available and we can hold hands. It was her birthday recently and all the staff made her day very special. If
ever I phone the home to book an appointment or to ask for information about mum I am treated with courtesy and friendliness.

The rest home is a modern building with all amenities. The Residents are well looked after by the caring Staff. The meals are very nice, especially the Desserts and Cake! The staff are caring and attentive and have taken good care of my Mother. It is a well-run care home where 'Care' means "Care".

Oakdene acted promptly in March locking down earlier than the Government's recommendations. This has proved to have worked and the residents have all remained safe. Well done to the manager and staff.
A dedicated team who know the residents and their needs well and who are always ready to answer any
queries or questions.
This is the 6th year my father has been here and I would make exactly the same choice again! Thank you.

Mum has been at Acorn Lodge since 2016. Staff are friendly and approachable and always make us welcome. Mum is treated with respect and her needs met with care and respect for her privacy. The home is clean and mum enjoys the activities she is able to join in with. During the current difficult situation
due to Covid-19 we have been glad that mum is in safe, caring and understanding hands.

A very dear friend who was very independent until a few months ago had a short spell in hospital after a fall and we were advised that she needed full-time care to ensure her safety. She has been in Oakdene for nearly 8 months now and although it took her a little time to settle, the care and patience
she has had from all the wonderful staff there has been outstanding and she now really thinks of it as home. I would also like to thank Oakdene for their decision to close the home to visitors due to the pandemic long before the government advice and this action has ensured the safety of all residents and staff. Sadly this has meant that we have been unable to visit her for some months now but we were allowed a "window" visit on her 101st Birthday recently. We look forward to regular visits again when we are allowed to do so. Oakdene is a wonderful home from home and I am so glad we found it.

My Mum has been in Oakdene since the end of December 2019. My Mum has settled in extremely well and this makes me very happy. She always looks clean and tidy. Her room is lovely and kept to a high clean standard. The staff are very caring and nothing is too much trouble for them. Food is first class
and there are lots of activities with again caring staff. I think all of the staff are amazing, especially in this difficult time of lockdown at the moment. They share photos and comments on Facebook, which again with lockdown this is a lovely way to keep in touch. Thank you all at Oakdene. Take Care.

Both Mum and Dad have been at Oakdene since April of 2019 and are very happy there. The home is very clean and the staff very caring. The food is great and there are lots of activities for them to participate in as they choose. I live in the US and am an only child and feel blessed to have found a safe
and comfortable home for my parents.

The nursing staff are first class, the care staff are good. The catering facilities are first class.
All the staff are polite, everyone speaks to you, very polite. The car parking is not very good, there needs to be more care spaces for visitors. I can't think of any more to say. I don't have any worries,
except car spaces. Thank you.

Always a pleasant welcome to the family of the residents. My mother has a lovely clean room, is well looked after ensuring all her needs are met. She appears to be happy and says she likes all her meals, the staff ensure she sits with her friends at mealtimes too. The staff genuinely care about their

Current Review Score: 8.3 (8.323)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.3 (8.323) out of 10 for Oakdene Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.9 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.471 for Oakdene Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (50 Excellents x 5) + (11 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) + (6 Poors x 2) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 70 Ratings = 4.471

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.852 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Oakdene Care Home is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 71 registered maximum number of service users is 14.2. 5 Positive Reviews ÷ 14.2 = 0.352

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
