Southbourne Beach is located a short walk from the sea front and its excellent beaches, perfect for a refreshing walk or for some fresh sea air. The home attracts residents and their families from all over the wider Dorset area, including Christchurch, Ringwood and the New Forest. The home offers high quality care including both residential and dementia care as well as shorter respite stays. The care home has 104 beds over three floors.

The location of this home is a short drive to Royal Bournemouth Hospital, Bournemouth airport and easy reach of both the Saxon and Sovereign shopping centres. Close to Bournemouth centre, with its eclectic mix of culture and entertainment, road and rail links are excellent for visiting family and friends.

The care home offers a wide range of accommodation options and beautiful, wheelchair-friendly landscaped gardens designed for a gentle stroll or relaxing walk. It is pet friendly, so your four-legged friends can also move in and also offers a shared care experience with companion suites, designed for couples, siblings or friends seeking a caring and supportive environment together.

Warm and friendly staff. Assessment and moving in was prompt and welcoming. Care good, rooms superb as is the food. Like a little village. Happy atmosphere. They always get our mother 'back on her feet'.

Happy - I have lived here 24 months and I treat the residents as friends and family. Love the pianist who I enjoy and sing along. I hope I don't annoy them by singing. I call myself the girl who couldn't stop singing!

On every visit I have found the care home to be warm in every sense of the word. Staff are friendly, helpful and smiling. Food, I hear is excellent and one day I may get to try it.
It seems to have a 'Hotel' feel about it and the lady I visit appears to be happy and content and after leaving her own
home after 50years that is very good.

A very good care home with friendly, kind staff. Mum enjoyed her stay and was only moved to a nursing home when her health deteriorated.

My wife and I entered the home on 13.02.17. The first thing that we discovered was that ringing the bell for assistance meant that somebody came within 15 minutes, but only to tell us that someone else would come 'shortly' to find out what we wanted, however urgent. The second person/persons would
be anywhere up to an hour in coming and occasionally did not come at all. My wife is suffering from Parkinson's disease and at times was immobile. She often needed immediate attention.


We found that other members of staff entered our rooms, and only knocked perfunctorily if at all. Our locking the door meant nothing, They simply used a key. They also entered while we were out and took stuff without our being asked. Mostly this was laundry, but much of it never returned, although other stuff was left in its place, My wife's wardrobe became partly unrecognisable, and many of her favourite things disappeared. In the process, my wife lost her hair dryer and I lost my treasured slippers.

Very pleasant and a lot of variety of entertainment. I call living here my finishing school. It is nice to have your clothes washed and ironed and I like singing even when I am not expected to.

Sunrise is a wonderful home. When I came here I was quite ill. With the care I received am now healthy again. Would like to have a singing group "singing for health" here.

On entering the facility one is greeted with a warm caring sensation of the décor and staff.
There are excellent facilities and activities are well organised and stimulating for the residents.
The various clubs are frequently operational and residents are not left around the edge of a room.

The buildings are constructed and maintained to a high standard. Cleanliness is exemplary. The staff are friendly, helpful and well motivated.


The layout of the public spaces is similar to a very good hotel (instead of chairs placed around the walls ie in lower quality care homes) and encourages

residents to mix and socialise.


Activities are well thought out and varied - but it's a pity the residents do not support them to the full. I would be happy to be a resident there.

I've been to Sunrise in Southbourne quite a few times now to visit my aunt. I've always been very impressed with the care and consideration given by all staff to the residents here. There are many fun activities to include and enthuse residents, including dances, piano recitals and day trips. Staff
are respectful, courteous, helpful and fun. The food is excellent (I've been lucky enough to sample it!). All in all a top notch residential home.

I have worked in the care sector for over 12 years now, joining Southbourne Beach in 2023. My journey in care began as a care assistant, this was a role I truly loved and quickly realised that the care sector was where I was meant to be. My passion for delivering high-quality care developed from my personal experiences of caring for family members and continues to grow, surrounded by compassionate and selfless colleagues. I have been fortunate enough to achieve further training and qualifications, allowing me to progress into managerial positions.


I have lived in the Dorset area for most of my life and I love being part of my local community with our residents and staff. I am incredibly proud to lead a special team at Southbourne Beach, where the needs of our residents are always the number one priority. Outside of my work, I enjoy regular exercise, travelling, sports and always seeking new experiences.

It is very rewarding to see residents having a great dining experience, from the meal they have to the service they receive in a restaurant-style dining room. Job Title: Lead Concierge

Having studied and worked in performing arts for 15 years in London, I also gained experience in the hospitality industry organising events in Mayfair before moving to Bournemouth to work in sales and team management. For 3 years I worked in domiciliary optical care travelling around care homes on the south coast. This taught me a better understanding in dementia and vulnerable people. I joined the Concierge team in 2013 and worked my way up to lead concierge.


I love my job, the staff and all the characters we here (including the pets). I now look after a team of 7 concierges at Southbourne. Never a dull moment, we are the eyes, ears and heart of the community. The relationships I build with the residents and families are so special and I value listening and trying to solve any request or concerns they may have.
