Southbourne Beach is located a short walk from the sea front and its excellent beaches, perfect for a refreshing walk or for some fresh sea air. The home attracts residents and their families from all over the wider Dorset area, including Christchurch, Ringwood and the New Forest. The home offers high quality care including both residential and dementia care as well as shorter respite stays. The care home has 104 beds over three floors.

The location of this home is a short drive to Royal Bournemouth Hospital, Bournemouth airport and easy reach of both the Saxon and Sovereign shopping centres. Close to Bournemouth centre, with its eclectic mix of culture and entertainment, road and rail links are excellent for visiting family and friends.

The care home offers a wide range of accommodation options and beautiful, wheelchair-friendly landscaped gardens designed for a gentle stroll or relaxing walk. It is pet friendly, so your four-legged friends can also move in and also offers a shared care experience with companion suites, designed for couples, siblings or friends seeking a caring and supportive environment together.

Excellent staffing levels mean residents needs are attended to without delay. Staff are not rushing around. The atmosphere is calm and purposeful. Excellent standard of housekeeping. The place is spotlessly clean and smells fresh (no reek of air freshener!) white cloths on the tables in the dining area.
Food looks lovely and residents get plenty to drink and eat. Design and layout of reminiscence 'neighbourhood ' is attractive and comfortable with no barren corridors and plenty of visual cues to help the residents navigate around. My father seems to be settling very quickly.

I am 94 and due to health reasons I had to leave my 40-year bungalow to move- reluctantly- into care accommodation. A year later my physical and mental health have greatly improved. The location, care, staff, food are all excellent and I greatly enjoy all the pampering and all the social activities.
Furthermore, the layout of the building is such that I forget that I am in a care home.

Sunrise has a real homely feeling, my father in law lives here with his dog! In a ground floor apartment with French door onto the garden, perfect! He is always well entertained either in trips out on the minibus or by singers, pianist, school children, quizzes and more, he even attends the flower arranging
and exercising classes.

My father has been at Sunrise for just over a year and a half. The establishment and staff have given dad a new life (he previously lived on his own with carers going in). He is always telling us about the different entertainment and activities and trips in better weather. He didn't want to particularly
go in anywhere but soon adjusted and is much safer. He loves his balcony with his plants on. The staff are very good, respectful and understanding to him and us. They are professional and friendly. As dad's ability is diminishing he is happy for them to help him (a great relief for us). My husband and I feel included in Sunrise too we are invited to events, training courses and assessments.

Job Title: General Manager

Joined: 2023

I have worked in the care sector for over 12 years now, joining Southbourne Beach in 2023. My journey in care began as a care assistant, this was a role I truly loved and quickly realised that the care sector was where I was meant to be. My passion for delivering high-quality care developed from my personal experiences of caring for family members and continues to grow, surrounded by compassionate and selfless colleagues. I have been fortunate enough to achieve further training and qualifications, allowing me to progress into managerial positions.


I have lived in the Dorset area for most of my life and I love being part of my local community with our residents and staff. I am incredibly proud to lead a special team at Southbourne Beach, where the needs of our residents are always the number one priority. Outside of my work, I enjoy regular exercise, travelling, sports and always seeking new experiences.

On a personal note, I have lived in Christchurch for the past 20 years and continue to do so with my husband and two children. We love walking along the beach and visiting the local cafes for coffee and a naughty treat.

I started working here as a Catering Assistant in 2007. Since then I have taken on new tasks and responsibilities which lead to being promoted to the current position of Dining Services Coordinator. I am responsible for all aspects of delivering nutritionally balanced meals, including special diets and dietary needs. It is very rewarding to see residents having a great dining experience, from the meal they have to the service they receive in a restaurant-style dining room. It motivates me and my fantastic team to provide the best possible service for them every day.

Job Title: Lead Concierge

Having studied and worked in performing arts for 15 years in London, I also gained experience in the hospitality industry organising events in Mayfair before moving to Bournemouth to work in sales and team management. For 3 years I worked in domiciliary optical care travelling around care homes on the south coast. This taught me a better understanding in dementia and vulnerable people. I joined the Concierge team in 2013 and worked my way up to lead concierge.


I love my job, the staff and all the characters we here (including the pets). I now look after a team of 7 concierges at Southbourne. Never a dull moment, we are the eyes, ears and heart of the community. The relationships I build with the residents and families are so special and I value listening and trying to solve any request or concerns they may have.
