Built in the 1840s, this magnificent house was redesigned and refurbished in the early 1980s. It is situated in its own grounds, a short walk from the beach in a peaceful area of Westbourne, near Bournemouth. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and well maintained, providing pleasant areas to sit and walk with sufficient space for disabled access.

Zetland Court provides residential care, nursing and residential dementia support for up to 71 residents.

My wife has now been a resident of the Red Admiral View unit for over a year and a half now and I have been very happy with the care and support provided by the Manager and her team. It very much feels like a family, both for my wife and myself. I am able to visit freely at any time of the day or night
and I am always made to feel welcome. The team run many activities and events throughout the year which we are able to attend and the grounds and other facilities are freely accessible. When I leave my wife I feel confident that she is in very good hands, which gives me peace of mind in such an emotionally difficult situation.

My mother became a resident in Zetland Court in about August 2020, and absolutely loved her time there. She had company, there were things to do if she chose and as she was mentally active she appreciated everything that was going on. She received excellent care and she was always saying how lovely
all the staff were, so thank you all very much for looking after her.

I have visited my wife every day in the last thirteen months with very few exceptions to the daily visit (I had Covid for 12 days). During this time I have only seen care, kindness and empathy being given to the residents. The atmosphere is relaxed, happy, non-regimented and relaxed. The residents are
continually told this is their home which gives them a sense of belonging along with being treated at all times with dignity and care.

My mum sadly passed away in May 2023 at 101 years old, completely unexpected despite 101 wonderful years of age. Mum had been in several care homes since Covid lockdown in 2020 where the care was ok but not what you want to provide for your loved one.
I moved my mum there in early February 2023 where
she really managed to live again and enjoy life near the sea. The management and staff are absolutely amazing, caring and thoughtful people and will do anything to help the person being cared for or the relatives. Communication was excellent, so as the relative you always were aware of any concerns.
There is a real feeling of community in the home, especially on Sunday afternoons where you find people playing Scrabble or just sitting around drinking tea and eating cake in the lounges and chatting.
I cannot recommend this care home enough and please do not regret, as I do, not moving the special person in your life to Zetland Court Care Home earlier.

Was unsure about putting Mum into 24/7 care but after seeing her in Zetland Court Care Home, can't thank them enough. She's put on weight since moving in, enjoys seeing people daily and the care 24/7 is excellent throughout. My knowing my mum's last days, months, years to be here and her safety is all
I wished for. Staff are so dedicated and can't help but thank them for the work they do, making Mum and others loved, cared and happy. Best end-of-life plan we could wish for.

My mother was a resident of Zetland Court for over six years until her recent death. Her care was exemplary. The staff were always kind and helpful, the food very good. They catered to her specific food requirements including her favourite treats. She was always treated with respect, dignity and thoughtfulness.
She suffered from Parkinson's and her condition worsened over time, but the quality of her care never wavered.

What a welcome. Warm, friendly, but professional. Beautiful surroundings, lovely tea cakes and sandwiches, presented beautifully. The resident was well presented and extremely happy the whole afternoon. A lovely experience. What a joy.

Very impressed with the friendliness of the staff from start to finish. Tea was superb and was enjoyed by all. The resident is obviously very happy and spoke in glowing terms about how nice the staff were. They did their best to make it a good day for all. Very impressed with the cleanliness of the

I have known Zetland Court for many years and have assisted in fundraising events within the home. When my twin brother had two falls and was diagnosed with dementia. His wife initially cared for him. Although she found she couldn't cope and through his masonic lodge, was moved as a resident to a care
home in Hinehead. He wanted to be near to my wife and me where we grew up so we had my brother transferred to this remarkable and excellent home of Zetland Court. Therefore we see him now every week.

Our mother had three weeks of respite care earlier this year. The house is in a pleasant location, decorated to a high standard throughout. The gardens were well-maintained and offer a lovely aspect from the house. The variety and quality of food was good. All the staff were caring, solicitous and
friendly. They paid attention to her clothes and sent on items after she had left. Zetland Court is a high-quality home that deserves serious consideration for respite or permanent residence.

My ex-wife has been a resident in the Red Admiral unit, which specialises in dementia care, for approximately 5 years. She has been very happy during this time and has become very attached to the wonderful staff who look after her. They really like her and show her great affection. Her individual care
package is very detailed and tailored to her general needs, with health and safety being very important due to her recent condition. I am very pleased to recommend Zetland Court.

My father went to Zetland Court for a month's respite. He needed support with gaining mobility and confidence following a series of falls. The care he received was outstanding on every level, enabling my father to move into independent living accommodation near family. I cannot thank them enough.

Zetland Court is a home and they go out of their way to make residents feel at home. Everyone is so friendly and cannot do enough to help. We were concerned that a younger person would not fit in with a home where many/most residents are very old - we could not have been more wrong, it doesn't matter
because everyone fits in. Facilities are excellent for someone who has suddenly had to leave her own home and needs residential care.

Our family member has been a resident at Zetland Court for about three months and we cannot believe our luck at finding such a wonderful home for her. The whole atmosphere is friendly and all the staff seems to go out of their way to be helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. The house and grounds are
very lovely, and the food is fantastic, whether eaten in the dining room or in your own. We visited over three days and everyone we met seemed friendly and happy. Most were very happy to chat. Well done!

Mum has been at Zetland Court for almost a year now, and despite our earlier missing about her losing her independence etc, (and, as a consequence, delaying the move), she is now asking why we didn't move her sooner! Mum is perfectly at home, she sees more people than she's used to, is fed, watered
and cared for (more than we possibly could have). We have only the highest praise for Zetland Court and their super carers - dedicated, kind, efficient and with a lightness of touch to suit each resident.

Job Title: Deputy Home Manager (Dementia)

I lead by example and I’m very passionate about dementia care being centred on the person rather than the environment. I believe any person should be encouraged to lead their care with support.


I have been involved in dementia care for over 30 years. I joined RMBI Care Co. in 2020 as a Dementia Lead, and I continuously seek training and peer support to enhance the lives of those living with dementia.

I am an advocate for any person with dementia and extend this to our communities, where I carry out awareness sessions to promote outstanding dementia care.


My saying is a person first, dementia second.
