Built in the 1840s, this magnificent house was redesigned and refurbished in the early 1980s. It is situated in its own grounds, a short walk from the beach in a peaceful area of Westbourne, near Bournemouth. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and well maintained, providing pleasant areas to sit and walk with sufficient space for disabled access.

Zetland Court provides residential care, nursing and residential dementia support for up to 71 residents.

My cousin was a resident at Zetland Court for almost two and a half years, nearly all of that time in the dementia unit, Red Admiral. She was incredibly well looked after by the marvellous staff there who did everything they could to make her feel comfortable and cared for. She wasn't the easiest to
look after, she could be moody and difficult quite often, but the staff were always very patient with her and did whatever they could to make her feel at ease. In the last few weeks of her life, they went over and above to do whatever they could to help her in that traumatic time. I would thoroughly recommend Zetland Court as a Home which really looks after their residents - with a staff that really care.

Dad has been through a very traumatic time in the past 2 months. He needs care and lost his wife of 66 years who he misses desperately. Zetland Court has provided him with the care, companionship and stimulation that he needs and it has taken a great weight off my shoulders. He lives close now, so I
get to see him more.

My father had dementia and could be challenging at times. The care my father received during his time at Zetland Court was outstanding. Everyone from the dedicated carers to the efficient office team worked together to provide the greatest standard of care.

My wife has been resident in Red Admiral View for 10 months. I have nothing but praise for the staff and facilities, she has a large room with a wardrobe and drawers and other belongings, there is a spacious lounge area and recreation room, spacious garden and very nice dining area. The staff and management
are extremely generous and caring, they communicate excellently. There is live entertainment with the staff and residents actively involved.

Partner has been a resident for 6 weeks respite care following a fractured femur. Placed in a very pleasant room overlooking the garden on the hospital floor. Excellent care and attention at all times. Very caring staff, always ready to help. Good management structure. Easy to contact if needed. Patients

I live on my own as my wife died 12 years ago. I had to be admitted to hospital on 11 August 2020 with a severe gall bladder infection. I did not get out of bed for over 2 weeks. By 2nd September I was ready for discharge from hospital, but could hardly walk and was in no fit state to look after myself.
I needed care to help me to regain my strength and overall fitness. Zetland Court has given me exactly what I needed. The staff and residents have been most kind and helpful and I could not wish for better care. I can now look forward to looking after myself.

Whilst there has been a turnover of staff, probably due to COVID, the care my father is receiving is amazing. My mum died at Zetland back in January 2020 and all of the staff were so kind and generous. I was worried about how Dad would be with Mum gone but he couldn't be in a better place. Zetland has
managed to protect all of the residents from COVID which is such a relief. One lady is wonderful in organising things to keep everyone amused and she does an incredible job - so thank you! Losing Mum was the worst thing that has ever happened to me. But knowing that the last person she spoke was a lovely night shift nurse who settled Mum into bed is a great comfort. I don't know her name but I am extremely grateful to her. Thank you - that's all I can say but it really isn't enough.

Zetland Court has been a haven for my father and our family and the home itself and the staff are exemplary. The care and attention to safety shown by all the staff is wonderful to see and the home itself exudes character and feels like a home from home.

There are 'bad habits' leftover from the previous management regime. We are confident, at this stage, that the new manager is addressing these points and improvement are showing.

In general, the residence is excellent, however, in the case of my father I feel it would be a good idea to see if it would not be possible to find activities which would entail using the lifetime skills of the residents. Dad was basically bored silly. Maybe some kind of repair and maintenance set up
which could be available to outsiders to make use of and even raise revenues.

Lovely home, beautiful grounds. My mother is very well cared for. I drop in at odd times and there is always a group activity going on. My mother relates well to the staff, and there are some lovely photos of her days out. In short, it is a beautiful home and my mother is very well cared for.

Without exception, I have found all the staff in all roles to be helpful and professional. Mum is treated with respect and every effort is made to make her feel comfortable and settled. Nothing is too much trouble. Communication is very good if there has been a concern about mums health or wellbeing,
someone is always available for as much time as I need to discuss possible remedies. The activities staff provide a great programme and catering excellent.

Job Title: Deputy Home Manager (Dementia)

I lead by example and I’m very passionate about dementia care being centred on the person rather than the environment. I believe any person should be encouraged to lead their care with support.


I have been involved in dementia care for over 30 years. I joined RMBI Care Co. in 2020 as a Dementia Lead, and I continuously seek training and peer support to enhance the lives of those living with dementia.

I am an advocate for any person with dementia and extend this to our communities, where I carry out awareness sessions to promote outstanding dementia care.


My saying is a person first, dementia second.
