Bay Tree Court is a spacious, modern, purpose-built residential home. Located in Prestbury village, it is tucked away from the high street, providing easy access to local amenities plus Cheltenham town centre.

Each of the 59 bedrooms has ensuite facilities; many also have showers and everybody can use the fully accessible bathrooms. The bedrooms are light, airy and well-proportioned; some have Juliette balconies or double doors opening out onto the gardens and courtyard.

There is an enclosed courtyard garden which gives a lovely focal point to the home; in warmer weather it becomes a popular alfresco dining space.

At the heart of the home are spacious communal areas, including two smaller coffee lounges, a library and a conservatory. Residents can always find a quiet nook to enjoy a book or a cosy place meet with family and friends. The home has its own hairdressing salon which is open each week.

The housekeeping and maintenance teams take great pride in keeping the home fresh, clean and safe, while the on-site laundry ensures an efficient and personal service.

Residential care at Bay Tree Court is person-centred, which each resident’s care plan being tailored to their own needs and preferences. Residents are supported by the skilled and compassionate team to be as independent as possible. The team also involve families in planning their loved one’s care.

Bay Tree Court liaises closely with a multi-disciplinary team of external health professionals, including GP surgeries and district nurses.

The team are knowledgeable and skilled in caring for people who live with dementia, and know how to support them to settle into a contented and fulfilled life at Baytree Court.

Earlier this year, it became evident that mum didn't feel confident living alone anymore (at 94) and, as she lived a couple of hours away, we all agreed that we would have to try and find somewhere local where mum could be safe and well cared for.
Mum came to live in Bay Tree Court Residential Care
Home at the end of June, in a lovely room where she was able to bring her own things, and make it cosy. Mum was always commenting on the attention given to cleaning and washing, and was most impressed by having fresh towels every day, as well as the superb standard and variety of the home cooked meals.
Sadly, mum passed away at the end of October.
We would like to thank every single person for the compassion and love they showed Mum. The genuine sympathy we, as a family, have been shown, has been amazing, and has certainly helped us through this process, and reaffirmed to us that Bay Tree Court was the perfect place for mum to spend her final months.

The thought of my mum going into a care home was tearing me apart. Bay Tree Court Residential Care Home has totally blown me away, from the start the management were so helpful, educational and totally engaged. Nothing was going to be a problem, any questions we had were answered. As for the staff,
I genuinely believe these people have hidden wings. We could not be more impressed. Anything we need is dealt with, the food looks delicious and the entertainment is superb. I thank these people from the bottom of my heart. Mum could not be in a better place, she is so so happy despite Alzheimer's trying to stop her. Many thanks to all.

Mum spent her final six months of life at Bay Tree Court Residential Care Home. They were months filled with laughter and care. The care staff, cleaning staff and management all made this a good time for her and for me. Mum was made welcome right from the start, making the settling-in process an easy
one. Mum's room was always clean and neat and the maintenance staff put up hooks for pictures etc. to make it just right for her arrival.
When Mum was in her final days of life, the home could not have been more caring. They also looked after me as much as Mum while I spent that time by her bedside.

We were concerned as circumstances dictated that a respite stay was required for Mum. As she is 95, very frail and needs constant help, support and direction after a stroke, it was a difficult decision to delegate care especially as she lives with us. On our initial visit to Bay Tree Court we were met
in an enthusiastic, informative and professional manner the home visit to meet Mum was equally accomplished with empathy, kindness and care.
On admittance, Mum was welcomed and a great effort was made to settle her in. The staff were kind and reassuring. The room was well-presented and clean. Good care was apparent at any time of the day, headed by competent senior staff. We were so grateful. On return home, Mum appeared rested and has been doing well. I would not hesitate to book Mum into Bay Tree Court again.

My dad has been a resident here since May 2022. Whilst there were teething difficulties settling him in due to his worsening dementia, the staff at the time and ever since have been absolutely excellent.
They are caring and considerate and work very hard!
The liaison between us and the senior nursing
staff has been very good, as is their care for Dad.
Dad took kindly to a couple of staff members in particular who were absolutely great with him, so that has really helped him settle.
The facilities and food are great, it is after all a purpose built facility so it is very fit for purpose.
The office, manager and reception are accessible, helpful and friendly and always prompt in replying to correspondence, etc.
You can visit anytime you like and we pop in every few days.
Overall, it has taken a huge weight off our minds to know that Dad is safe and well cared for, so thank you everyone!

Our experience comes from a mother who is a resident. On our visits to Mum, we find the staff welcoming and friendly. Mum is well looked after both mentally and physically and all the staff are friendly and empathetic to her changes in mood and Alzheimer-related memory problems. On odd occasions, a
flare-up of a reoccurring fungal skin infection might go noticed for a while which then must be addressed with some haste. Most of her needs are catered for, with the only odd glitch occurring where we need to remind staff of her special requirements. In her case the need to wear a mask connected to a sleep apnoea machine that assists her during the night.
Mum often comments that the food is very good and drinks and snacks are frequently offered to the residents. If Mum becomes distressed or upset during the day the staff contact us and we are able to talk to Mum on the phone to reassure her.

I can't recommend Baytree court enough.
My mother has been being cared for for the last five years. In my opinion, nothing is too much trouble for the nursing staff, and always very friendly.
The home's cleaning staff do the most excellent job. The food is five-star from what I have seen there is
nothing I wouldn't actually sit and eat myself.

My father has been very happy and well cared for since going into Bay Tree care centre. I am reassured and happy to leave him in their care as unfortunately I am too far away to visit often. When I do visit I am always impressed with the cleanliness, wonderful food and caring staff.

This is a very good care home with long-standing, hardworking staff. It is well run. There are some issues that are beyond the control of the care home such as visiting rules/isolation/testing etc. Along with other care homes, there have been staff shortages but the existing staff have done their level
best. The activities organiser goes above and beyond t try and keep the residents happy and occupied. I believe the food to be adequate but sometimes not much choice, again this could be due to circumstances beyond the home's control. Overall very good.

My mum lived happily in one of the independent living flats before transitioning to the care home. The care at both facilities was outstanding. I saw staff reassuring residents, giving them a hug if needed when they were unaware that I was in the room watching. As Mum's dementia progressed, carers also
checked in with me from time to time to see how I was feeling. Mum died a few weeks ago and they handled the whole process very sympathetically. I am very confident that Bay Tree made her last few years as happy as possible. There is currently some work going on to finish the refurbishment of the care home which was suspended due to covid - don't let this put you off!

My wife received kind and considerate care. My family and myself were welcomed to see my wife withing the restrictions laid down by the government as frequently as we requested. During her final days, we were admitted to her room and treated with kindness and generosity by members of staff.

I welcomed the January newsletter as it is a way of keeping in touch in these difficult times with limited visits and memories not so good!! It gives comfort to relatives/friends to know what is happening with our loved ones. Clearly, there is a lot going on to keep them happy and motivated.
My daughter-in-law
and two of my grand-daughters did a window visit with Mum last week, which she loved and it was then posted on social media and went viral! I think her positivism and looks (she'd just had her hair done) are all credit to Bay Tree - thank you all.

I came here for a 3-week respite case following a hip operation and have been looked after very well. The carers have been excellent so is the food and the laundry service is of the highest quality.
Everything possible has been done for me with offers of transport to and from the hospital which was
so helpful. I would wish to thank all the staff here at Bay Tree Court for the great work they do here.

Fiona Gillon

Job Title: Home Manager

Fiona has been Bay Tree Court Home Manager in Prestbury, since March 2024.


In August 2021 Fiona was appointed as the Home Manager of Royal Court Care Home, having been Deputy Manager since 2019.


After Fiona left school she started working in an office, it was her older sister who worked in a care home who encouraged her to change jobs; Fiona found she really enjoyed it and never looked back. After her first couple of roles, Fiona gained a decade of experience at a local care home working her way up to be a Senior Carer. During this time she completed her NVQ level 3 and gained a Diploma in Health & Social Care.


Fiona was promoted to the position of Home trainer, which included training 70 to 80 staff in a wide range of skills as well as being an NVQ assessor and organising student nurse placements. However, this role meant she had a lot less time with the residents so when Fiona saw a Senior Carer role at Royal Court she took the opportunity to change. She became Team Leader after a year or so, became Deputy Manager in 2019 and Home Manager in the summer of 2021.
