Set in the village of Brockworth, Gloucestershire, MHA Brockworth House provides exceptional nursing dementia care for 52 residents in a peaceful, community-oriented environment. Overlooking Coopers Hill and close to Witcombe Reservoirs, the home offers stunning natural views and tranquil surroundings. The building has a rich history, having previously been a social club. Today, it is a modern, purpose-built care home that feels like a home, from a home.

The team provides personalised dementia and mental health care, ensuring residents feel secure and supported. The home features innovative tools like interactive ‘magic tables,’ robotic pets, and music therapy sessions, which engage residents and provide meaningful activities.

Its easy to understand why mealtimes are so important at Brockworth House. Like everything here the residents are at the heart of everything, and they play an active role in shaping the menus, ensuring meals reflect their tastes, preferences, and traditions.

The activities team ensures a diverse programme of events, from creative crafts and gardening sessions to lively singalongs and themed karaoke evenings. The gardening club is particularly popular, with residents planting flowers, vegetables, and herbs in the garden. Animal therapy sessions, featuring donkeys, reptiles, and more, bring smiles to residents’ faces and create meaningful connections.

At Brockworth House, care isn’t just about support, it’s about creating a community where residents thrive. Whether you’re searching for yourself or a loved one, for short stays or nursing dementia care, the team at Brockworth House are here to help.

My elderly father suffered with Parkinson's disease and dementia. He received the best care here, the staff were wonderful with him, so very patient and caring, taking care of all Dads needs, both physical and mental. He took part in music therapy each week which he enjoyed and benefitted from. At Christmas,
they played carols from Kings College Choir which I know he loved. Unfortunately, Dad passed away a couple of days before Christmas but he was still very well looked after in those last few days and immediately after. I was made to feel very welcome too no matter when I visited. As Dad was in his last few hours of life, the staff offered me food and drink and hugs. I can't thank them enough for all they did for Dad and for me. Communication was first rate, the care and love Dad received was excellent and I'm so very pleased that Dad spent his last few months in such a lovely environment with such wonderful people.

My husband has been a resident of Brockworth House Care Centre since 2022. In all that time he has received such good care from all staff at Brockworth, being treated with kindness, care and dignity with nothing being too much trouble. Excellent meals are served, cooked to a high standard. It is a happy
friendly home, with kind approachable staff, always with smiles.
I would not hesitate to recommend Brockworth House to anyone seeking dementia care for their loved one.

Just spent a happy few hours at Brockworth Nursing Home with my husband and family celebrating his 75th Birthday. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who made sure we had a special time. They were kind and attentive. We even had the manager play some table tennis with the grandchildren. Again,
thank you, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

My stepfather spent 18 months here and was very happy with everything, even though it must have been a pain for the staff as he had dementia and could not walk or speak.

Thank you for your review. It was an absolute pleasure looking after your stepfather; thank you also for having the staff at Brockworth so involved with his funeral.

Our mother recently moved to Brockworth House. After an initial unsettled period, she is now very happy and settled. The home is well staffed and all the staff from the laundry personnel to the manager, are welcoming and approachable. Staff attitude is person-centred and without exception they are kind
and nothing seems to be too much trouble. The home is spacious and secure and the residents are free to wander and sit in one of a number of sitting rooms. There are a wide variety of activities for residents and visitors can join in should they wish. Personal rooms and spaces are kept clean and tidy and use of the enclosed garden is encouraged. We, as a family, are extremely pleased that Mum is in such a caring environment.

Mum has been a resident at Brockworth since April 1st and I cannot believe how quickly she settled in and this is due to the amazing staff at this wonderful care home. I have visited various times of the week/day and Mum always looks immaculate. The food is amazing. Her room is comfortable and clean.
Mum loves having her hair done and the hairdresser does it just how she likes it. Thank you to all the staff and that includes all the office staff too.

The staff are amazing towards my mother; they have made her so happy so quickly, and I couldn’t ask for a better place for my mum to be.
I know she is safe, happy and included by everyone. She is stimulated with every activity and always has a smile on her face.
Thank you, Brockworth House.

My mother went into the care home in August 2021, after a fall at her home, suffering with early stages of dementia. We were pleased she had a place here as my father was in the care home in 2018 with dementia and the care he received was excellent. My mother was welcomed with open arms. All the staff
have got to know us as a family, always polite and informative when questions asked. All staff went that extra mile to help Mum, nothing was too much trouble. She loved the activities and found comfort in the church services. Whenever we visited the home, it was clean and welcoming. During Covid, the extra pressure this brought allowed regular phone calls to Mum. The room was clean and tidy with adequate solid furniture. They provide a good laundry service, with clothing washed and cleaned on the premises, all neatly ironed. Mother passed away in March 2022, treated with respect and dignity at all times. She loved all the carers and staff, they gave her a safe, comforting environment.

Thank you so much for your kind words. Myself and the team here at Brockworth are so grateful that you entrusted the care of Mum into our hands. She was a very loved member of our family here at Brockworth and is very much missed, however she has left us all with some wonderful memories. We send you and your wonderful family our love; you are in our prayers.

My husband went to Brockworth Hosue at the end of February 2021 suffering from Parkinson's and Lewy Body Dementia. The rooms are clean, large and comfortable. The food is wonderful, there are plenty of activities and a beautiful garden. As for the staff, they are exemplary, from the catering staff,
housekeeping, carers, nurses and administration. All are friendly, welcoming, caring, supportive and it's clear they love their residents and would do anything for them. Whatever challenged arise, they are quick to act upon them and go out of their way to do whatever is required to protect them. I'm just sad my husband passed away so quickly and I didn't get to know them better.

My dad was very lucky to have had the chance of staying at Brockworth House. It gave us a chance to see Dad happy before he died. He received the best care and we received lots of support from all the staff too. Can't thank them enough. They made us feel so at home.

My husband was a resident at Brockworth House for 18 months until he passed away on 19th August 2020 and in that time I can honestly say he received 5 star care. All the staff, nurses, sisters and carers are absolutely excellent. The care my husband and all the other residents receive is truly fantastic.
We will never forget the kind support we received and end of life care my husband had, all the help everyone gave us and kindness from everyone at Brockworth House. Thank you so much to all the staff.

Mum was looked after very well and it felt like home very quickly. She loved the activities, especially the music, the pianist and dancing, and enjoyed pet visits. The staff were so patient and kind, and became her friends. She enjoyed the large garden, visiting the chickens and joining in with barbecues.
Family and friends were always made very welcome. Mum had a lovely bright sunny room overlooking the garden, and was treated with dignity and respect at all times.

My mum has been in Brockworth House for nearly two years now. She has advanced vascular dementia and could no longer cope at home. Getting her a place in Brockworth House was such a relief. We no longer had to worry about mum, we knew that she was surrounded by caring people and was safe and secure.
Brockworth House is not a "warehouse " where old people are sent to be forgotten, it is a community which respects its residents and tries to give them a stimulating and interesting life. The way that the home has coped over the coronavirus issue has been an inspiration to my sister and I, as we (of course) have been unable to visit her for the last few months.

I honestly couldn’t have found a better dementia nursing care home for my husband. Brockworth House is full of wonderful, thoughtful and caring people that make a difference every single day. During lockdown they have made sure that loved ones have stayed well informed with regular updates and photos.
My husband was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s at the young age of 53. After caring for him at home he finally attended the care home at the age of 59. It was hard to find somewhere that would suit his needs as a younger dementia sufferer. From the moment I walked into Brockworth House. There was such a friendly welcoming feel to the place, I knew I could trust them with my precious husband. I cannot thank them enough for the care and support they continue to provide for not only my husband but for me too.

My wife moved into Brockworth House in May 2016 having been diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s she was 62 years of age. Initially she she developed the condition known as pacing, she literally did not stop, walking round and round the home and the grounds. It was very challenging for the staff but
they handled it brilliantly. Later, just like someone flicked a switch, she stopped pacing and quickly became immobile. She retreated to a wheel chair and became totally dependent on the Carers to do everything for her. Her speech had left her by then and thereafter she spent much of her time asleep. This presented further challenges but the activities team were simply brilliant. Sadly, during this virus period my wife passed away. We shall never forget and will be eternally grateful for the love and care she received at Brockworth House.

As soon as you step inside Brockworth House, you feel the kind, cheerful vibe. As a friend or relative, from the first visit you know for sure that this is a good place, a kind place, an expertly-run place, where residents' well-being is at the heart of everything. The residents are looked after so
kindly and gently and with loving care and patient good humour by the wonderful staff. The imagination and care taken in identifying and appealing to residents' individual interests and providing entertainment and stimulation is also so valuable, and the food is excellent too. I am grateful to Brockworth House for being such a lovely place for my Father-in-Law to live.

My husband had been living at Brockworth House for 3 3/4 years. He suffered from early-onset dementia and was admitted when he was only 62 yrs old. His condition deteriorated quickly and a couple of months after he moved in he was no longer able to speak. It was impossible for him to communicate but
the staff quickly found a way of understanding and anticipating his needs. I have always found the staff team at Brockworth to be highly professional but more importantly warm and loving and committed to enabling their residents to live with the maximum level of dignity possible. They always tried to find ways of making my husband join in and be part of the "family" and they never stopped trying. The staff team are cohesive and supportive and always welcoming of the families any time of day or night which was fantastic. He sadly died a few days before Christmas and they stayed with him right up until the end. I have so much respect for the job they do in very difficult circumstances.

Current Review Score: 8.1 (8.057)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.1 (8.057) out of 10 for Brockworth House Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 2 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.3 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.750 for Brockworth House Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (18 Excellents x 5) + (6 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 24 Ratings = 4.75

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.307 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Brockworth House Care Centre is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 = 3.125

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 55 registered maximum number of service users is 11. 2 Positive Reviews ÷ 11 = 0.182

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
