Set in the village of Brockworth, Gloucestershire, MHA Brockworth House provides exceptional nursing dementia care for 52 residents in a peaceful, community-oriented environment. Overlooking Coopers Hill and close to Witcombe Reservoirs, the home offers stunning natural views and tranquil surroundings. The building has a rich history, having previously been a social club. Today, it is a modern, purpose-built care home that feels like a home, from a home.

The team provides personalised dementia and mental health care, ensuring residents feel secure and supported. The home features innovative tools like interactive ‘magic tables,’ robotic pets, and music therapy sessions, which engage residents and provide meaningful activities.

Its easy to understand why mealtimes are so important at Brockworth House. Like everything here the residents are at the heart of everything, and they play an active role in shaping the menus, ensuring meals reflect their tastes, preferences, and traditions.

The activities team ensures a diverse programme of events, from creative crafts and gardening sessions to lively singalongs and themed karaoke evenings. The gardening club is particularly popular, with residents planting flowers, vegetables, and herbs in the garden. Animal therapy sessions, featuring donkeys, reptiles, and more, bring smiles to residents’ faces and create meaningful connections.

At Brockworth House, care isn’t just about support, it’s about creating a community where residents thrive. Whether you’re searching for yourself or a loved one, for short stays or nursing dementia care, the team at Brockworth House are here to help.

Unfortunately, my partner recently passed away. However, the staff at Brockworth did everything possible to ensure that what was a most traumatic and very difficult time was made as kind and easy as it could be.

I was treated with the utmost consideration and sympathy and nothing was too much trouble

for any of the staff. They were all polite and respectful, compassionate and very understanding, not just for myself but also for my partner.

Prior to that, I was always made to feel welcome whatever time of day I visited, and any concerns I did have (which were few and far between) were listened to and dealt with in a timely manner.

My partner was at Brockworth for just over a year and I was very pleased that I chose there for his final year.

My dad had Alzheimer's and was thankfully accepted in Brockworth when another more expensive care home could not cope with his behaviour anymore. My dad's behaviour issues seemed to vanish from the moment he walked through the doors of Brockworth, he was easily bathed (previously a problem) and enjoyed
the communal rooms for relaxing and eating (previously never did). The management of this home, having been through the pain of losing loved ones to Alzheimers/Dementia themselves, totally understand, they are highly knowledgeable and run a care home that is a true home from home. The staff are exceptional, every resident is treated as an individual, never looked down upon, nothing is ever a problem and each person is loved and cared for as if they were a member of their own family. Food is fantastic, we were always made so welcome when visiting, residents are kept mobile as long as possible. My dad recently passed away and we are all so thankful for the time that he had at Brockworth.

I don't get to see my Dad much but the times I have seen him, he was free to go wherever he wants and so happy. I don't worry about his care because I know he is in good hands. My family keep me informed and I am very happy with his care. Can see the staff are trained in caring for the residents, everybody
works hard to see the resident has things to do, care. They drink and eat well. All the staff care, office staff, kitchen, carers, nurses, cleaners and the Chaplin.

Throughout my ex-husband's stay, since the 3rd February 2017 until April 2018, he has received the highest care you could have wished for. The one-to-one care staff went above and beyond, as did all the staff and treated him as a person with feelings and compassion. They made him laugh, put up with
his tantrums, challenging behaviour and brought out the best of him. He was always encouraged to take part in activities and he was treated with dignity. Having spent considerable time with family members at the care home, towards the end, the staff were wonderful towards all of us and kept us going through the darkest of times. I would definitely recommend this care home.

I instantly felt reassured and welcome on my first visit to Brockworth House when looking for a suitable place for my Aunt and sensed this would be a home which would cater for all her needs, and it has proved to be. For the last ten months, we have witnessed the love, care and affection that she has
enjoyed from all involved with her care, all of which has been carried out thoroughly and sensitively. We are regularly amazed at the way in which care for such a variety of residents with different needs and levels of Dementia is carried out with such seamless efficiency, yet always with patience and a smile. Every time we have visited we have been welcomed and almost seem part of the family at Brockworth. We have been kept well informed about her condition and all our enquires dealt with promptly and satisfactorily. Dementia appears to be a pretty terrifying place for anyone to be but the way in which it is managed and softened by Brockworth must be an example to all.

What a huge relief it was to find somewhere so suitable for my Auntie when she needed a Nursing Dementia placement (previously she was in residential care, but due to challenging behavior had to move). Throughout her 11 month stay she was treated with kindness and respect. Staff endeavored to help her
feel secure and safe, whilst maintaining her dignity. Considerable effort was taken to get to know her and about her background and interests, thus enabling person centered care and conversations that were relevant. The activities co-coordinator made a particular effort to engage with her. Regular visits from The Chaplaincy team were another benefit which included assisting with her funeral service (so much appreciated). The excellent on-site hairdresser was also fantastic. The home is well run and managerial staff were always helpful and understanding. End of life care was excellent, I was well supported during visits. If I could suggest one improvement it would be the garden, so much potential there!

Our aunt spent nearly a year at Brockworth prior to her death in late January 2018. We visited her regularly and have nothing but praise for the high standard of care she received. The staff were excellent; always patient and caring of their residents. They clearly made the effort to get to know her
well and provided individual care tailored to her needs. The chaplain and one of the activities staff led a lovely funeral service which was a fitting tribute to her life.

A very warm and caring home. Residents are treated with dignity and are well looked after. Carers are hands-on at all times and Management doors are always open. There is a programme for activities which includes music therapy, creative art, flower arranging, exercise therapy etc., and regular services
are held on Sundays. Food is excellent and reviewed regularly with relatives having a say in whether they think particular dishes are suitable. Regular relatives meetings are held to discuss any problems they may have and for the management to announce changes or new ideas.

My husband has been a resident for 18 mths. He is very settled and looked after extremely well. My family and I are very happy with Brockworth and the care they provide.

My warmest thanks to all the staff at Brockworth for the amazing job they do.

The kindness and professionalism of all the staff is exceptional, form management and administration to housekeeping and kitchen teams. The carers themselves shown extraordinary levels of compassion and respect to the residents and are well trained to provide the necessary practical help required. The
food looks appetising and the activities team provides a variety of different entertainments. My father is happier and more content than he has been for a very long time.

My cousin had complex needs and was looked after with the utmost dignity. Her care was exemplary. They gave her time when she needed. They encouraged her to eat which was not always easy. The staff were fantastic, I cannot praise them enough.

The staff treated my uncle, with kindness and understanding.

The best residential home I have ever visited.

You occasionally hear of stories in the press where care home staff clearly couldn't care less about their residents. Well at Brockworth House it is the exact opposite, the staff couldn't care MORE! They are simply wonderful, and I know my dear father was incredibly well looked after in the two years
he was there. During that time I visited him several times a week and saw each time how the care staff give personalised care to a consistently high standard. The home is also always clean, the food appetising and varied, a wonderful variety of activities are organised, the chaplaincy service is excellent, management is very approachable and helpful and all staff are always welcoming and friendly. It can be a very difficult decision to move a loved one into care, but I would highly recommend Brockworth House.

My sister was in Brockworth House Care Centre for several years. The general and ongoing care was always kind and patient. The home kept me informed as to her care and conditions as I was her nearest relative in this country. (Her husband had a mental condition and did not visit and the son with primary
responsibility lives in Zurich.) I was not able to visit as often as I would like as I am in my 70's and live in Dorset. I tried to come every month and unannounced and always found her well cared for and with patience. The home was bright and clean.

I am so pleased to hear that you always found your sister well cared for with patience and kindness at Brockworth House. It is difficult to entrust the care of your loved one to someone else and it is lovely you managed to visit so regularly even though you live in Dorset.

When I visited my friend she always looked clean and tidy and in a relaxed state. The room was bright and cheerful. The staff members always greeted both myself and my friend with a smile. The popped into the room to check on my friend were always seeing if there was anything else they could do. The
staff always made time to have a nice chat with us both. My impressions were of a very caring staff.

I was very impressed with the care and professionalism displayed at the care centre for my mother who was initially placed for respite care. She sadly died in the home but the care she received was beyond all expectations. I would like to thank all the staff for their kindness, thoughtfulness and
compassion in dealing with someone who could be difficult at times. I have recommended you to a friend of mine and hopefully, she will book a visit.

My granddad was admitted to Brockworth House in June 2016, with Vascular Dementia and Alzheimer's.
The care he received was second to none, he was very happy during his time at the home. When his health declined, the end of life care was sensitive, respectful and the whole family felt supported.
I would have no hesitation recommending this well-managed home to friends and family requiring Dementia care.

Mum was brought to Brockworth House having had a long stay in Hospital. Brockworth House was close to us and central for easy transportation be it by local buses or own transport with a lovely easy access car park, which helps with any worries or stresses obviously having a parent/family member in a
new environment. As time went on we as a family realised that mum would be there for the rest of her life which was so sadly taken very recently.
I CANNOT COMMEND Brockworth House ENOUGH. The nursing care from the qualified nurses, the wonderful care and support from the Healthcare Workers, the varied menu each day from the chef and kitchen staff and personal service from the kitchen staff providing us with food and refreshment was wonderful and last but not least the amazing support from all Management team and Admin was phenomenal. I can honestly say the care and attention my wonderful, beautiful mum had including her 'end of life' care was very special. Thank you.

My grandmother was admitted to Brockworth and I can't believe how she has improved mentally and physically.
The nurses and carers are wonderful. They are happy and so kind and caring.
My grandmother was immobile when she arrived but after 2 weeks of gentle prompting and reassurance, she is now walking.
She is putting on weight as well, which is a relief.
Brockworth House is exceptional.
I'm so relieved and comforted by the fact that my nana is there.
Thank you.

Supportive and helpful. Showing concern and understanding. I could not praise them enough or thank them enough. Care given was beyond m,y expectations and certainly made my husband's stay as happy as it could be. I particularly admired their patience and tolerance with a particular resident who was

Current Review Score: 8.1 (8.057)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.1 (8.057) out of 10 for Brockworth House Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 2 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.3 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.750 for Brockworth House Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (18 Excellents x 5) + (6 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 24 Ratings = 4.75

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.307 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Brockworth House Care Centre is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 = 3.125

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 55 registered maximum number of service users is 11. 2 Positive Reviews ÷ 11 = 0.182

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
