The Hollies Care Centre at Littlecombe Park provides compassionate residential, nursing, dementia and respite care for people with a range of care needs, with round the clock care offered by a team of dedicated and well-trained staff.

The Hollies is family run and this is evident in the welcoming and family-like care given to all residents. The home is purpose-built, all rooms with an en-suite, and some with a terrace. There are two luxurious garden suites that offer even more space and privacy.

Catering at the Hollies is considered excellent with a focus on fresh produce and homemade dishes. Celebration events are performed beautifully – staff go all out to create special days to remember. All dietary needs are catered for.

My mother has been a resident at The Hollies Care Centre for just over a year. The standard of care, quality of food and extensive range of activities have been of a consistently excellent standard. The staff are polite, approachable and always willing to help in any way they can.

Our friend has been a resident at The Hollies Care Centre for over a year now and during that time I have been very impressed with the level of care and facilities available to residents. The staff are excellent and genuinely strive to ensure that residents are happy and healthy. The range of activities
is amazing and our friend has had the opportunity to enjoy many new adventures and experiences. The recent Coronation party for residents, their families and friends was outstanding.
This is an exceptionally good care home that feels like a home.

A comfortable and warm home with a lovely atmosphere. Caring and helpful staff. The rooms are very well-appointed. My husband is well looked after and the staff have put in a lot of effort to help him settle in. He is now enjoying some of the varied activities - especially the barn owl visiting!

The rooms are nicer than average, the food is very good and there are lots and lots of activities going on all week. Mum comments on the lack of staff/lack of consistency at times but in my opinion, this is normal in care homes at the moment and better than some/no worse than most. Laundry is an issue
with items getting lost, but again that's standard. What was exceptional was the support we all got when my dad died, truly amazing, from beginning to end, we felt part of a larger family and we will always be grateful for that.

In August 2022, my husband and I became residents. My husband's room was small but compact. My room was much larger, which enabled us to spend time together and have our meals at the table. Sadly, my husband's condition became worse and he passed away in October 2022. It was a very distressing time
but an understanding carer would sit with me, talk and give me a hug. I was able to have a carer at the funeral. I am now beginning to move forward and meet other residents and join in the every day activities. I have a television and telephone in my room, a professional hairdresser and chiropodist are available. My laundry is done and my room is cleaned. I am truly well taken care of by all the day and night staff.

Since my friend and her sister moved into The Hollies Care Centre, the office staff, nurses and carers have all been fantastic. My friends are safe, secure and so well looked after, so much better than being at home on their own. The facilities, care, activities etc are superb and everyone is so lovely
and nothing is too much trouble. At both 86 years old, it's a shame my friends didn't move here a few years ago. It's fantastic.

My mother passed away at Holly Oak Care Centre after living at The Hollies for over four years. Her increasingly challenging Alzheimers was managed with expert care and regular access to a doctor for medication adjustment.
The staff have always shown consideration and respect towards my mother, taking
time to find out her interests and engaging her in activities she enjoyed. There is laughter and music and a very positive atmosphere around the residents and our family are very appreciative of the individual care that was given by the staff.
I have recommended The Hollies and Holly Oak to friends.

Mum's Dementia, and resistance to change has meant it has been very hard to get any sort of respite. The Hollies Day Care once a week has been amazing. It has been very emotional but I have felt cared for as well as Mum. She has settled well because of their care and expertise in dementia. We don't
know how fast things will progress with Mum but have the confidence to have the Hollies in ours, and Mum's life.

She visited the home after reviewing many others and was immediately impressed and asked when could she move in. This was arranged very quickly; the move was carefully managed, and she settled in very well. Having been here for several years, I am happy to say our visits, all through Covid restrictions,
have been well catered for and enjoyable.

We had the most fabulous four-day celebration in Mum's nursing home. The time and effort put in by all the staff were superb. There was so much going on for the residents and all their families. Great care was taken by all staff, making sure everyone had a good time. On the family afternoon, there was
so much to do for all ages. It was lovely to see so many happy residents.

The Hollies Care Centre put on the most marvellous Jubilee celebrations to which friends and relatives were invited. There was an ABBA tribute band, singers with a ukulele band, line dancing, hog roast, cupcakes, bunting, a barbeque and much much more. It was a very joyful time and I commend all the
kind staff at The Hollies for their superb effort, which everyone enjoyed and appreciated very much.

My mother stayed at The Hollies for two weeks to help her recovery. She found the stay very beneficial as convalescence and was comfortable in her lovely room. The staff were friendly and caring and she enjoyed the food and some social activities. She normally lives independently and it was a great
help for her to be so well looked after.

The Hollies is very comfortable and the staff are caring and friendly. There are activities twice a day and frequent trips out in the minibus. After the change in night staff at 7pm, the place is very quiet and often lonely. There are no evening activities (perhaps twice a week?). Overall, very good
although, there have been some issues with laundry.

We know how fond you are of our day trips out and the activities so it is great that you are still enjoying these. Unfortunately, in the past, we didn’t have many requests for evening activities but after you requested this, we thought it was a great idea! We have started doing evening activities, for example, movie nights, but we do also have arts and crafts, puzzles and other smaller activities to do in your own time. We would like to thank you for your review and we will be looking into more sociable evening activities to keep everyone occupied. We do understand that there was a laundry issue when you first came to the Hollies and we apologise for the inconvenience of this. We are happy that the issue was resolved almost immediately and that the issue has not occurred again.

Was in The Hollies care home for two weeks respite care following discharge from hospital with a fractured pelvis as a result of a fall. Although expensive, the care I received during my stay was quite good and my injury/state of health noticeably improved during my stay. The ambience in The Hollies
was quite relaxed and comfortable. My main criticism was that food was only barely warm, when served.

What a lovely home the Hollies is! My husband was only there a few hours before he passed but the staff were lovely on our visit. And a big shout out to the manager - she could not have done more for us A wonderful send off for my husband, thank you so much to the manager and team.

The Hollies provided a welcoming atmosphere and an exceptional standard of care, with a good ratio of staff to residents and very friendly, caring staff at all levels. I felt that Mum was in safe hands and that she was able to benefit considerably from her 2-week respite stay. Her stay was a great success
from her point of view also, in particular the range of activities on offer, interaction with other residents and the individual attention that she received. We will have no hesitation in arranging further respite stays.

I cannot fault the care and respect my mum received at The Hollies. Her room was always immaculate and staff knew how much music and song helped, so there was always an effort to include those activities. A couple of things got lost in translation but nothing serious. I'm very happy with the experience.

Jonathan

Jonathan Hawkins

Job Title: Managing Director

Jonathan has over 20 years of experience in managing care homes. He built The Hollies in 2006 and has gone on to create a full service care home that embraces personalised care. He has worked hard to build a truly supportive community not only within the Hollies but also within the local community. His tacit understanding of the residents means there are new initiatives on the go all the time and the facilities and amenities on site are state-of-the-art; these include the new Holly Oak purpose built dementia home.

Job Title: Registered Manager

Jo has more than 40 years’ experience as a qualified nurse and is Registered Manager at the Hollies. She specialised in acute care/ elderly care and is very involved in all aspects of care. She also ensures excellent communication between residents and families.

Job Title: Commercial Director

Kaye is a Commercial Director specialising in procurement of all goods and services throughout the supply chain and has an excellent demonstrable track record in her field of expertise. She is MBA and MCIPS qualified with over 35 years experience in all aspects of supply chain and procurement with major international blue-chip organisations and public sector bodies (Including NHS Healthcare and central government & MOD contracts).

Lindy McDonald

Job Title: Head of Clinical Care

Lindy has been involved in elderly care from a very young age when her mother owned and managed a small residential home. After qualifying as a nurse, she worked in critical care and completed further studies in care for those living with dementia. She started at the Hollies as a registered nurse progressing on to Head of Clinical Care.
