Resthaven offers 24 hours of residential and nursing care set amidst some of the finest countryside in Gloucestershire with panoramic views over the Painswick valley.

The care is nurse-led 24 hours a day and is unusual in the high level of qualified nurses (including mental health nurses) that are on every shift. The team has deep knowledge and understanding of dementia care and end of life care.

Each resident has a named nurse and carer who work closely with residents and families to create a person centred plan of care which is constantly reviewed. The home works closely with a multi-disciplinary team of external health professionals including doctors, specialist nurses and the NHS rapid response team to ensure every resident’s care needs are met and unnecessary hospital admissions are avoided.

Resthaven is fully accessible. All rooms have washing facilities and some include ensuite facilities or wet rooms. Residents are welcome to add furnishings and personal belongings to make their room their own.

The home offers a variety of communal areas: lounges, dining area conservatory and a chapel, with many areas enjoying the panoramic views. The tranquil grounds are a haven for wildlife and have the pleasure of watching the rich birdlife, rabbits, foxes and even deer from the home. The patios are fully accessible and there are plenty of paths to explore.

The catering team provide fresh, nutritious home cooked food and are skilled at adapting the menu for different dietary requirements and for those with swallowing difficulties.

The activities team work both individually and in groups to offer varied, stimulating and enriching activities which include visiting musicians and entertainers, arts & crafts, gardening, games, gentle exercise and trips out.

My mum had called Resthaven her 'home' since May 2018. When it came to the end of her life, the staff went above and beyond to facilitate safe family bedside visits to allow us to say our goodbyes. The care my mum received was the best, she was always treated with dignity, care and love. Thank you staff
at Resthaven, each and every one of you are amazing.

With regards to laundry, we felt Resthaven did not do enough to ensure the correct laundry was returned to our family member. The result being items were lost and also gaining other patients clothes. But, the care was excellent!

When my father was discharged from hospital into the care of staff at Resthaven he was in a very frail state. He was extremely cold and unable to communicate and the journey had been too much for him.
But from the moment he arrived, the staff cared for him with great kindness and compassion. He was
treated with real dignity in his final hours, as he died the following day. The family was with him and the staff were just as kind to us, always ensuring we had refreshments and were comfortable.
We all wished my father had longer in their exceptional care.

The very good care home my mother was living in was going to be closed, an awful situation for any family, but even more difficult when you are abroad. Resthaven was recommended to me and everything had to be sorted in the short time I was in the UK, and via telephone and email when I left. The manager
could n't have been more helpful and when I returned to the UK I was able to move Mum into a lovely room with all her personal belongings already in place to help her feel at home. I stayed in the UK while Mum settled in and I was very impressed with the care and atmosphere at Resthaven. Mum has settled in very happily and regularly tells me how lovely it is. I get regular feedback from the care staff and I can skype with Mum. I am very happy that Mum lives at Resthaven.

Our mother has resided at Resthaven since March 2019. She has a beautiful room which the staff were happy for us to furnish with her own furniture, which as she suffers with Alzheimer's/dementia, has greatly helped her transition. The manager and all her staff have been amazing, so caring, professional
and really create a wonderful environment.

A very pleasant and well-located nursery/residential home with a high standard of care provided. Staff are all very pleasant and caring. I would have no hesitation in recommending Resthaven to anyone considering placing an elderly relative in a nursing/residential care home in this area.

My family and I have encountered nothing but kindness, helpfulness and cheerfulness in all the staff. Any problems have been addressed and our visitors have commented on the high standard of care given. Food is good. It is just a pity that the evening meal is quite so early, but staff have been willing
to save a sandwich for my husband to have later when he has more of an appetite to eat. Keep up the good work!

Resthaven was my wish come true. To find a place to live your last few months with care, kindness and love given by the wonderful staff and to see how happy my father-in-law was, I must have been blessed finding Resthaven. With Mum's memory issues, I have found the nursing and care staff extremely patient and kind and warm in their relating to Mum. Her own room is kept very nice and has a lovely view across the Slad Valley.

My Mum has only been a resident for a few months and my family and I have always found the staff keen to help with any queries we have, and most important of all, kind and caring to whatever my Mum needs. She is well cared for by all, from the manager and all care staff who have spent time to get to

My father came to Resthaven for the end of life care from the hospital, from the moment he arrived to his death we as a family were relieved and felt supported. Dad said care was always of the best. From the manager and her staff to the quality of the food to the atmosphere, activities, nursing care
and ambience. Resthaven really is a wonderful place. It is a family atmosphere with people who really care about everyone there. Contact, as we live away, was excellent.

My mother moved to Resthaven from another care home last year. It is amazing how different care homes vary. It is nothing to do with cost but with the quality of management and staff. We were extremely happy with the care mum got at Resthaven. Even mum said 'I am quite happy here' this was a ringing
endorsement as far as Mum is concerned. I would highly recommend this wonderful home to everyone.

Mum and Dad have been residents for almost two years. We have been extremely happy with the home, which is very welcoming and caring. All the staff are exceptionally hardworking and caring.
The respect they show and the care they have provided to my Mum and Dad has been faultless. The home has coped
very well with the complex health needs of both Mum and Dad. We have also found the present Manager to be very approachable and supportive.
Sadly my Dad passed away over the Christmas period. In his last days the staff provided a praiseworthy level of support, care, dignity and sympathy. We are very grateful for this, as obviously, this was a distressing time for the family.
During and since his passing the sensitivity and support of the staff has meant so much to us.
Resthaven has provided us with peace of mind. I know we will look back in the years to come and gain satisfaction from knowing that my Mum and Dad were so well looked after in the latest stages of their lives.

Since my mother first went into Resthaven in December 2016, her care has been exemplary and the excellent staff have ensured that she is always looked after to the best of their ability. The surroundings could not be better and the home itself is clean and comfortable with all the amenities that one
would expect. I am very pleased that we chose Resthaven and would happily recommend it to others in the same situation.

I couldn't recommend Resthaven more strongly. Since my grandma became a resident my family has had great comfort in knowing she is receiving the highest level of care.
