The staff are amazing and caring. Everyone is treated with dignity. There is lots of entertainment. I can visit at any time and am often offered a cup of tea, which makes visiting Dad relatively 'normal'. There are plenty of newspapers and magazines. The month of the year is displayed prominently and
all major events are celebrated.

It took a while for my brother to settle, but the staff were very good and took their time to reassure him. He's happy and looked after with kindness and reassurance. The staff give a warm welcome to all who visit, and are very approachable if its something they are not sure about they will get a member
of staff who will know.

I can't speak more highly of the staff, very pleasant and kind. The room placed as poor, needs decorating and painting as it looks drab.

My brother has been at the home for nearly a year, he took a while to settle in, but the staff were patient with him to allay his fears and anxiety. If there are any problems the staff contact me to let me know. Now he joins in talking to other residents and even banter with some of the staff. Since
he has been there he's put on weight so must be enjoying the food. He doesn't easily admit to aches and pains the staff seem to know when he has some and treats him accordingly.

My father is happy and settled and the staff treat him with dignity whilst also supporting the family. He has enjoyed the food a lot as well. He has enjoyed some of the activities, especially the Steel band. The staff are friendly and always smiling and nothing is too much trouble.

A very pleasant and friendly atmosphere in the home whenever I visit. When they have musical day and other activities they do their utmost to involve all the residents, although some are bedridden. The food is good and well-presented. Some of the residents are unable to chew the meat from casseroles
as it is not soft enough for them to eat, overall, the variety of food on offer is excellent.

Good, honest and safe care. Our mum enjoyed her stay and we were happy that she was in a nice place, home from home.

My mum suffers from dementia and has been a resident at Wotton Rise Care Home for the past 6 years. Like any family member, I was very reluctant and worried for my mum to go into a care home for her remaining days/months/years. My fears were instantly re-assured by the owner (who is amazing) and all
the wonderful staff who have cared for my mum over the years. Their care and compassion towards her is second to none. They always keep me fully informed with regard to any additional needs required with my mum's condition and health and are always very accommodating when we visit. During Covid they were amazing, even though we couldn’t visit, they were really caring and understanding to us as a family with any worries we had with regard to the situation. 100% I would recommend Wotton Rise as an amazing care home for your loved ones to be a resident.

My mum has been a resident of Wotton Rise for over a year now. When she went to the home from hospital it was for end-of-life care and here we are 14 months on, which can only be a testament to the excellent care she has received. It is a small family-run home. Mum is bed-bound but the care and attention
she has been given means, despite being immobile we have had no issues with bed sores. Despite her limitations at 96 years old, she is happy in her surroundings. She is not able to go to the lounge to join other residents, but I see them as I come and go and they all seem cheerful as do the staff which speaks volumes. Staff spend time with mum, they chat to her and listen to music - so she is not lonely. Everyone is always welcoming to me and I know that if there were any issues I would be phoned immediately. I cannot thank them enough - knowing that your parent is having to be cared for by someone else is not easy, knowing that they are being well cared for makes it much easier.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.545)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.545) out of 10 for Wotton Rise is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.645 for Wotton Rise is calculated as follows: ( (75 Excellents x 5) + (27 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 107 Ratings = 4.645

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Wotton Rise is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 27 registered maximum number of service users is 5.4, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
