Beauchamp House is a Care South Country House care home. Nestled in the village of Hatch Beauchamp near Taunton, Beauchamp House provides high quality residential and nursing care.

The home has been renovated and extended to provide two new wings in keeping with the original Georgian architectural style to deliver the highest standards of care to residents.

The home has comfortable and beautifully furnished single bedrooms, all of which are en suite with a shower wet room, own telephone, television and DVD player.

My father has been a resident of Beauchamp Country House Care for six months. He was apprehensive about moving but had been having difficulty living alone. He had had a number of falls and was becoming confused and not eating properly. He is 92 years old and has lived alone, with family and friends
visiting, for over 20 years. He has gradually settled into the friendly routine and is now joining in with activities and feels comfortable and “at home”.
He loves his room and the views of the garden and surrounding countryside. To date, he manages to look after his own personal care but knows that there is always someone on hand to provide assistance. My sister and I look forward to our weekly visits and we feel that the relaxed, friendly and homely atmosphere suits our father very well.

I really enjoyed my stay as did my wife. I found the staff, rooms and gardens absolutely marvellous and we would come back. Also, all the staff, cleaners and carers were excellent in a caring and friendly way. The food was exceptional.

After fracturing his hip and needing more care we put Dad in Beauchamp Country House Care home. His stay turned out not to be a long one but the love and care he had was second to none. In his last few days when all the family came to say their goodbyes, we were all treated to that love and care too.
We would like to thank all the staff for their support through our difficult time.

My mum was ill with cancer and was hoping to go into the local hospice but there were no beds. I am so happy that she came here for her final days. She was looked after and cared for so well by all the staff, carers and nursing staff - they could not have done more to make her comfortable and looked
after us as her family also, offering food, drinks and emotional support, could not have asked for lovelier, more caring people.

I get the feeling that there are not enough staff on the ground. Those that are available do their best. Very nice room with good view of the lovely gardens. Not always appropriate food for my mother e.g. Leaving her with soup for supper which she doesn't find easy. Staff are always friendly and welcoming.

Thank you for your feedback. It is good to hear that the home and gardens are enjoyed and that the staff are friendly and caring. We have worked very hard to ensure that there are sufficient staff who are deployed effectively and at our recent relatives meeting it was recognised that call bell response times have reduced dramatically. The CQC told us at their recent inspection that there were sufficient suitably qualified staff to meet the needs of residents. We have taken action regarding your comments about your mother's food choices and I expect that you will see positive changes as a result.

The food is not at all good. Sometimes overcooked, tough, chewy and sometimes undercooked and inedible.
Only ever seems to be two staff on - sometimes they appear to help out on other floors and then there are none.
You charge for everything - pads for mother, she is apparently not eligible for you
to supply because she knows when she needs to go.

We recognise the importance of food for our residents in relation to the social experience of mealtimes, enjoyment of a variety of choices and of course the essential nutritional value. We have acted upon your comments and I hope that you will recognise immediate improvements. With regard to staffing, we have worked very hard to ensure full staffing of the home and that staff are deployed effectively. At our recent inspection in July, the CQC found that there was adequate and safe levels of suitably trained staff. Fees are generally all-inclusive and only very rarely are extra charges required. The home manager will be very happy to discuss this further with you.

No relatives living in this area and I would like to give an honest opinion to friends if asked - most close friends also not in the area!
I have found the carers very helpful at all times and the nursing staff very willing to keep me informed as to the condition of my husband.
All staff have treated
him with respect and care in my presence.
Maybe songs/music could have more on from WW2!

My parents moved into Beauchamp Gardens, in the grounds of the care home, 7 years ago. (Parking space, proper kitchen, lounge, dining room, 2 bedrooms. Meals provided/washing done by staff or they could do these themselves. Dad also had a vegetable patch). After a wonderful 4 years of supported living,
they moved into the main house 3 years ago. The care given in my father's last illness was exemplary. The staff were so attentive to his and our needs and could not have been kinder.
Mum is still living there in a lovely room that looks out onto the grounds. The staff chat to her and she has become genuinely fond of them. She is able to phone me up any time she likes. Beauchamp House is not just her home. It feels like home for all the family. The only improvement would be more outings - ideally with a new minibus. Activities within the home have improved recently. There was even a falconry display. I am happy when Mum is happy and well cared for. Any problems are quickly sorted.

I had the pleasure of visiting my mother last week and noted how well she is now being cared for. She has been at Beauchamp House for nearly a year and following initial hiccups and concerns, I am pleased to say that she appears well cared for and safe. The carers I met on my visit were very attentive.
They talked to mum and checked she was comfortable. She has a lovely room which is worth the extra cost. She overlooks lovely well-maintained gardens which I know she appreciates.

Mum moved here 18 months ago & has been cared for with tenderness, respect & dignity until her death at the end of February. The staff genuinely care about meeting their residents' needs. Mum loved the gardens, the food & the activities in Beauchamp House - she was made to feel cherished as an individual
by the staff. When we visited, it was lovely to relax with a cup of coffee with Mum in the Library overlooking the gardens - it felt like being in an exclusive hotel rather than a care home - & they use linen tablecloths (rather than wipe-clean plastic ones!), linen napkins, proper glasses etc at residents' meal times. We have joined Mum for meals here on several occasions & it was delicious & well-presented. When Mum died, the carer who contacted us was wonderful - we really appreciated the way everything was handled and also when we went back to Beauchamp House to deal with Mum's belongings, nothing was too much trouble for the staff & the manager. We'd happily live here ourselves!
