Clare Hall Nursing Home can be found in the peaceful Somerset village of Ston Easton, which is approximately 11 miles south-west of Bath and 7 miles northeast of Wells, and has an interesting history before the home was converted into a nursing home in 1986.

Clare Hall is a homely, intimate home with 43 single rooms and 4 rooms specifically designed for couples, 26 of these rooms have en suite toilet and/or wet room.

The home boasts of two lounges, a large conservatory and a grand dining room.

Clare Hall is surrounded by impressive and extensive well-maintained grounds that are accessible to the residents. There is a water feature, a sensory garden and a greenhouse for any green-fingered residents. The majority of the well-appointed rooms overlook this magnificent view.

There are activities arranged daily for residents to enjoy in the communal lounge, and this is also a place residents can catch up with family and friends.

Clare Hall has the ability to care for people both under and over the age of 65 who have general residential, nursing or complex nursing care needs. Whether looking for short term or long term care, Clare Hall has the flexibility to accommodate for both.

The Chef creates a wide range of balanced, nutritious dishes, prepared daily using only the freshest produce. Residents can choose to eat in the dining room, or their rooms.

Clare Hall has wifi signal throughout the home which can be accessed by the residents who would like to ‘browse the internet’, be active on social media or communicate with their loved ones via video call.

The staff are always friendly and appear to know mum well.
One of the resident lounge rooms appears to be closed for use (by the main entrance). Our family try to get together for occasions with mum and that room is always beneficial to her and us. Private, comfortable. We always leave it as we find
it. Wonder if it is no longer accessible to residents.

Dear Deb, Thank you for your review. I can confirm that the lounge is available to residents and their families/relatives but the lounge was extensively refurbished. Please do speak to a member of the management team if you have any further queries.

My wife is totally disabled with MS and despite refusing food and drink and medicines at times for most of the last year due to the MS now affecting her brain, her care is, to say the least, dedicated. She is always clean and tidy and her feeding needs are pandered to. The staff are always smiling,
happy and warm to me and other relatives.

Mum has been in the care home for 16 years. The staff have been very caring, kind and always with respect, privacy and dignity to Mum. The staff always keep me informed by phone or in person of any changes in Mum's condition, doctors visits or any other issues, which is reassuring. Mum is happy to stay
in her room with her TV and enjoys seeing her grandchildren.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.353)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.353) out of 10 for Clare Hall Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.664 for Clare Hall Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (71 Excellents x 5) + (36 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 107 Ratings = 4.664

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.689 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Clare Hall Nursing Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 57 registered maximum number of service users is 11.4. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 11.4 = 0.789

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
