Helen Oliver is our Home Manager at Frethey House, here’s a little bit more about herself and the home in her own words:
“As Home Manager I believe that our residents should be treated with the highest quality of care possible and endeavour to ensure that my team and I always maintain this, whilst making each day memorable.
I lead by example and involve myself in the day-to-day life of our community as well as making Frethey House a happy and enjoyable place in which to live and work. It is wonderful to see the smiles on resident’s faces every day. I have worked in care since 2009 with various roles and have educated myself to a degree level and completed my Level 10 in Leadership and Management in Social Care last year. It highlighted to me key areas and ideas that I can bring to my team to support them to get the best out of themselves and their roles. It is important to me that everyone gets a chance to develop and have opportunities.
At Frethey House, we are one big family and everything we do is from the heart, treating the people living in our community as individuals understanding their choices, wishes and dreams for no other reason than to make a difference every day. It is important to us that they feel valued and respected as their experiences and life stories are something we can learn from.”
I have a real passion for baking and feel like I have made a difference to the residents, baking different cakes for them to try. It is important I get to know the residents, so that I serve food they love and enjoy.
I am passionate about getting to know each resident and their family, so activities are person-centred. There is nothing more satisfying than seeing a resident engage and enjoy an activity you host, no matter what their ability.
