Gotton Manor care home provides residential, nursing, palliative care and dementia care for up to 60 older people, from respite stays to long-term residence.

This beautiful home was once a manor house; it has been refurbished with tasteful, modern decoration and continues to be surrounded by acres of countryside. It is a 10-minute drive into the town of Taunton, Somerset, where residents can access shops, amenities and a railway station.

Each bedroom is single, most have en-suite facilities and all have television points. The lounge still features the manor’s original open hearth and a piano. There are plenty of sociable dining areas which look out onto the rolling countryside.

Residents are supported to pursue their own hobbies or join in with group activities and outings. Food is home-cooked and nutritionally balanced, with dietary requirements catered for and support in eating and drinking if needed.

Residents are encouraged to personalise their rooms, bringing with them a little piece of 'home' with them, when they move in.

Dad spent 18 very happy months at Gotton Manor. The care was second to none. I found the staff to be amazing, so kindly and treated dad with the utmost dignity. I felt perfectly happy leaving dad after a visit, with staff who dad thought of as friends. He loved the food, applause to the chefs. During
the present crisis, the staff still remained professional and caring. As dad declined, I felt the love and compassion given to dad. His passing was made as comfortable as possible.

My mother recently moved to Gotton Manor following a long hospital stay and respite care in another home. My mother was anxious about moving and settling somewhere new, as this would become her permanent home. We need not have worried, she received such a warm welcome and said the staff cannot do enough
for her, are warm, caring, kind and devoted. The standard of care is excellent, already my mother feels at home and feels more settled than she has felt in a very long time. What stands out is that the staff have time to talk and give quality time to the residents which makes a huge difference to their mental wellbeing.
My mother is delighted with the quality of the food and menu choices and now looks forward to mealtimes. I have been extremely impressed with all of my dealings with the Manager and the Receptionist, nothing is too much trouble.
I cannot thank you all enough - it is a huge relief to know my mother is being so well cared for and is happy again.

All of the staff were amazing and the home manager made everything as pleasant as possible given the restrictions due to to Covid 19. My father was treated with love, kindness and dignity at all times and I could not

My dad passed away peacefully in the home that he loved.

Mum has been a resident at Gotton Manor for nearly a year now, as a family we were not sure how she would settle, but there was no need to worry as Mum is extremely happy there. The staff are wonderful and they go above and beyond with Mum and all the residents. There is always some form of activities
going on too, whether its singing a quiz, painting or even making Pizzas, But most of all Mum enjoyed the trips out in the mini bus, (before lock down ).
Since COVID-19, its been difficult for Mum and all the family, but now we can have window and garden visits , we look forward to our visit and spending quality time with Mum. Thank you to all staff at Gotton Manor you do a fantastic job.

There is a relaxed, calm atmosphere when you walk into the home. The staff are friendly and make time to talk and joke with the residents. Always looks and smells clean. The residents are encouraged to look at the monthly activities programme and choose which activity or entertainment they would like
to attend. There are also trips out for lunch or shopping. A very friendly dog visits the home once a week and goes around to all residents who like dogs. A small monthly newsletter is printed which tries to keep you interested and for you to spot yourself in the photos from the previous month's activities or outings.

Hugely impressed with the kindness and affection shown to my client during his time here. The home is immaculate and appears very well organised. The time given to both me and my client, particularly by two carers when they are so busy with other things was noted and appreciated. I would recommend this
home to anyone, from office staff to orderlies - nobody was too busy to offer help and assist. Outstanding!

Always made very welcome and always let us know how Dad is.
Very homely and warm.
Went to the Christmas Party and there was a singer, and it was lovely. I have never seen my dad sing in my life. It was lovely, he was singing, me and my sister both had tears.
We are so glad we can leave him and
not worry.

My mum came to Gotton Manor for the last few weeks of her life. She was treated with dignity and was made comfortable at all times. There were lots of family and friends visiting all through her stay and we were made to feel welcome.
The chef in the kitchen was fantastic in making my mum what she wanted
and the care assistances made sure she was clean and clothes changed throughout the day.

From the first time I walked through the door, I knew this was a great care home as the welcome and feel of the place felt right. My initial feeling proved to be more than correct as the staff at Gotton Manor are fantastic and go far beyond normal care, nothing was too much trouble, they treated my
mother as one of their own relatives and you could tell it was a vocation, not just a job. No one wants to have a relative in care but Gotton is like being at home.

I stayed for a weeks respite at Gotton and it was the best nursing home I have stayed at.
The good: the room was light and airy, lovely aspect and nicely decorated, it felt more like a hotel than a nursing home. The staff were friendly and caring, I seldom waited longer than a minute or two for the
call bell to be answered. Although a couple of exceptions to that were unhelpful to me. My room had an ensuite toilet, which I cannot use due to disability but it made things very convenient for my care. The food was tasty.
The bad: I use an airflow mattress, the type supplied was so thin that during its deflation cycle my bottom was touching the bed frame. Many adjustments and mattress changes were tried, but the problem was the mattress type. Some staff needed more experience or training to deal with someone in my situation.
Overall, I would definitely recommend Gotton Manor.

Dad has been in Gotton Manor for six months now. We as a family have been delighted with the transition (inevitable but timely) and how well Dad has settled. We could not wish for better or kinder staff to be nursing him. He is treated with kindness, patience and respect, as indeed are we as visitors.
The environment is very supportive for him and we remain grateful for the whole team at Gotton Manor.

My mum has been a resident of the Coach House Gotton Manor for over a year.
The atmosphere when we visit is always very welcoming, friendly & relaxed.
We have found the staff & helpers very gentle & caring in all matters.

The home is always welcoming, a home from home feel. All members of staff know the residents. It suffers at times (as many nursing homes do) from short staff. Really pleased that they are now employing more permanent staff and will be relying less on unreliable agency staff.
The home does it's very
best and residents always come first, which is how it should be.

Hello, my name is Janine. I am the Home Manager at Gotton Manor Care Home.


I started my career in care over 20 years ago, working as a care assistant in a local nursing home. Over the years, I have worked in community care, nursing homes, and residential homes, and whilst I worked for a care agency, I did HCA shifts in hospitals and hospices.


I have put my all into working my way up the ranks and I have been working in supervisory and Deputy Managers posts over the last 10 years.


Since working with our fantastic team at Gotton Manor Care Home, I have felt nothing but welcomed and supported both in-house and by the rest of the Harbour Healthcare team.


I am passionate about our residents receiving person-centred care and I am very proud of our beautiful home and amazing views.

Hi, my name is Pat. I am the Administrator at Gotton Manor Care Home.


I started my working career as a care home administrator when I moved from my home country to Somerset in 2000.


The administration has been in my life since I began work as a clerk, based in London in a well-known fashion store. In my time there I gained a lot of knowledge and experience working in different areas of the business from a bookkeeping clerk to a receptionist, travel clerk, secretary, press officer, training officer, and finally the supervisor of the international buying offices.


I then came down to Somerset, where I found a job as a Home Administrator. Little did I know that I would love being with and respecting older people as much as I do!


I recently joined Gotton Manor, where everyone has been so welcoming, friendly and very helpful to me from day one, from our staff and residents here at Gotton plus the staff who work in other parts of Harbour Healthcare.
