All staff from the manager, qualified nurses and care assistants are very supportive and friendly. They try to arrange activities for clients but it's difficult due to varying needs and abilities. The home keeps relatives informed of patients health.

My father has been here since August 2016. He is cared for by all staff with great kindness and doesn't seem to have any complaints.
He enjoys all the activities, including outings whenever possible. He thinks the food varies but is as good as can be expected considering the fact it is mass catering.

My husband has been at Oak Lodge nursing home for fourteen months and I could not wish for a better place for him.
I find all the staff very friendly and very caring, from top management to the nurses, carers, kitchen, cleaners, laundry and entertainments. They arrange lots of entertainment, music,
afternoon singing, quizzes and many others. I would highly recommend this nursing home to anyone looking for a place for their relatives.

I found it very small in the room where they have their bedrooms and in the summer time, the door to the garden is not often open and it does get very hot in the room. Otherwise, everything is quite good. It's nice to know that my sister has someone near to talk to otherwise it's a long day for her
and other people that have to stay in the home. My sister is happy now that's one good thing but I am pleased to hear they will be moving her to another room soon and it will be much better for everyone that stays here. Everyone is very nice to talk to so that's a very good thing.

I am very happy with the way my dear Mum is cared for in "Acorns". The staff are very caring and thoughtful and efficient. Always patient with her (due to her dementia, she can be a bit difficult)! she always looks clean, tidy and well fed.

On arrival at The Lodge myself and my family were welcomed and I was made to feel part of a family. I was included in all the entertainment and activities and so was my family included. I had my 50th Birthday here and I had a surprise party and cake. My family has joined me for meals and have been told
they can come at any time.

I have been qualified as a nurse since 1995. I have 14 years of experience as a Registered Manager for care services. I decided to go into nursing due to my passion for helping people. I am passionate about developing relationships with people in long-term care placements.


I pride myself in being hands-on in my role and ensuring that I develop good relationships with residents, families, and team members to ensure people are safe and well looked after. I also like to make sure we are delivering high-quality person-centred care.

Hi, my name is Clair. I am the Deputy Home Manager at Oak Lodge Care Home.


I started as a carer in 1995. In 2007, I came to work at Oak Lodge Care Home as a Senior Carer and then worked up to the position of Nursing Associate. In October 2019, I was offered the Deputy Home Manager position; I was delighted, and of course, accepted the offer!


I work with Florin and the other team members at Oak Lodge Cre Home to ensure all the residents have a perfect day, every day!

I joined the Oak Lodge Care Home team in March 2018, having previously worked for an advertising agency for 10 years, and also worked for Axminster Carpets as a PA for 9 years.


I enjoy watching horse racing, going to horse shows, dog walking with my little Jack Russell terrier called Bea, and dining out. I am usually the person who answers the phone when you call during office hours and deals with all the administration and paperwork for the home.

Socks the Cat

Job Title: The Boss

Joined: 2012

Socks the cat has been in charge of the staff and residents at Oak Lodge Care Home for a number of years. He was born on the 18th of February 2012, and it is believed he is a direct descendant of the Sphynx.


Socks' main duties are sleeping, gathering his strength, eating, and looking at the birds in the garden. He is normally found in the laundry where he has a good supply of food, a bowl of fresh water and some very soft, warm blankets to lay upon on top of the tumble drier. He knows instinctively who likes his company, and has made good friends with many staff and residents in the home.


Socks are extremely tolerant of other pets, so there's no issue with residents seeing their families' pets when they come in to visit.
