My father was a resident for the 2 months before he died. The outstanding features were the constant helpfulness of all the staff I met and their unfailing levels of care for my father, especially the day he died. The manager ran the home with the utmost professionalism.

Thank you Kate for taking the time to write a lovely review, which I will share with the staff. We also very much appreciate the support from your family in helping us to care for him so well.

I cannot praise Oaktree Court, they go above and beyond for the residents and when my mum was passing they were so lovely to all the family. My mum enjoyed it there and they made her last years pleasant.

My nan moved to Oaktree Court after the forced closure of her previous care home. She was treated kindly, with respect and dignity at all times. She was always clean, tidy and well fed. She loved the outings and fun the staff and residents shared together and could not have been in a better place for
the last years of her life. At the end, the staff and management could not have been more caring and supportive of both her and us her family. I cannot rate Oaktree Court staff highly enough.

Both my parents (father age 93 mother age 90) have been residents at Majesticare Oaktree Court Wellington since September of last year. I went to 'see' Oaktree Court and the very first impression was 'what a lovely place' (set in 7 acres of parkland) in a beautiful part of the country. I met the manager
who showed me around the building and I was very impressed with him and the staff and how kind they all are. The move in was made extremely easy and smooth. My parents call it home and are very content there.
One of the many factors which I like is they allow us to take our dog into see them, they love that. Also there are no set times so we can see them whenever we like.
We are very happy that they are very happy.

Thank you, Martyn, for a very comprehensive review of our home. With your help, we have been able to help your parents settle in very well, and they are both enjoying life at Oaktree Court to the full.

My brother was a cancer resident there for ten months and I found he was looked after well, right up until the end.
They covered his needs all the way and he was very happy there until the pain got too much.
There were lovely grounds for him to walk and eventually get taken around in a wheelchair.
Very
clean and tidy.

From the outset, from the manager to all staff we were in contact with were communitive, friendly and above all extremely sympathetic and caring towards our relative who suffered from cancer.
End of life care for our relative was second to none up until his last breath was taken.

My husband received excellent care during his time at Oaktree Court. The staff were respectful, kind and thoughtful. His room was comfortable and warm. They made every effort to give him food that he liked and their communication with us, as his family, was excellent. We would particularly like to thank
certain members of staff whose dedicated care and attention was greatly appreciated by both my husband and the family.

My mother-in-law was poorly and her stay was necessary to regain some weight and ascertain her level of memory difficulties. This was achieved in her 3-week stay. The staff were extremely kind and professional.

The only concern I had whilst I was on holiday is that the phone was not always answered

even in office hours and there is no answer phone. This made communication difficult whilst I was travelling.

Overall the care that she received far outweighed anything else and should the need arise, I would come back. It is the staff who make a home a success.

Reply from Andy Kirby, General Manager at Oaktree Court Care Home

Many thanks for your review. During office hours we have admin staff who answer the phone. Out of these times the care and nursing staff are here, but they will always prioritise finishing what they are doing with the residents before answering the phone, which sometimes leads to a delay. It's frustrating at times, but understandable, I hope you will agree. I'm really pleased your mum's stay went so well, and hope she continues to thrive in her new home.

My father, in his 90s, was looked after at Oaktree Court for the 6 months from January to June this year. We have nothing but praise for the carers and nurses (and management) that tended to his needs.

At Oaktree Court, the staff took the time and trouble to work him out as the complicated person

that he was and then used every strategy they could to keep him clean and content, with wonderful success. He began to enjoy the banter, stopped asking to go home, and started to tell stories again about his life.

We are so grateful that he was able to end his life at Oaktree Court, peacefully with staff and family with him, and for the dignity in which he was able to spend his last month's thanks entirely to the lovely people who looked after him at the home.

My husband has been a resident since September 2016 and every day my family and I thank our lucky stars we found such a wonderful residential care home. The quality of care and loving sensible concern is second to none. The staff are superb and we, as a family, are treated exceptionally and accommodated
with a welcome at any time.
The leadership and management are so friendly yet highly professional. We cannot fault it in any way whatsoever.

Since my mother moved to Oaktree Court I have been very impressed with the high level of care offered. I was very anxious when my mother had a fall and required residential care. I reviewed all the care homes in our area and Oaktree Court offered everything my mothers needs required. Since my mother
moved in, we as a family have been delighted with the choice of care home. All the staff are very caring and think of each individuals needs. Well done to all the staff and management at Oaktree Court.

We as a family are delighted with the care and attention our father is receiving and the support and involvement our mother receives when she visits is second to none.
She can visit only if driven there by somebody else due to her own disabilities and the staff go out of their way to make this as easy
and relaxed as possible.

This and the individual care with which the staff show both of them makes a very difficult time for us all so much easier.
I would highly recommend this care home to others.

My elderly mother-in-law needed nursing care after a long hospital stay last year which left her more incapacitated. She was made very welcome to the well-kept and characterful residence by the whole team and settled amazingly quickly. As a family member, I felt supported and that the manager, nurses
and carers were interested to hear about my mother-in-law's needs, from my perspective as her former carer. Although the limitations of age and infirmity have reduced her quality of life, the companionship of other residents and the wide choice of activities provided by the enthusiastic activities team, help to make my mother-in-law's life as interesting as it can be. Some of her health issues make it difficult to maintain her weight but due to the kindness, responsiveness and flexibility of the catering team, along with the vigilance of the carers, she is doing as well as we can expect and hope. I hope there are still places like Oaktree Court around if I ever need a similar service!

My father has been a resident at Oaktree Court since February 2016. He is 92 years old with quite complex medical problems, being diabetic with a prosthetic leg, and vascular dementia.
The first impressions of the home is a clean, bright environment, and none of the odours that are associated with
some establishments.
The staff are patient and helpful, and nothing is too much trouble. Outings are arranged in the minibus, which residents enjoy enormously, and there are varied activities arranged such as quizzes, concerts, music and movement, and film shows.
There are beautiful grounds, which residents and their families are encouraged to enjoy where possible. Summer fetes and firework displays on Guy Fawkes night are just some examples of outside activities.
If we are honest, none of us wishes to end our days in a care home, but if we have to then Oaktree Court is as good as it gets.

The carers do an excellent job, always friendly and amenable even when working twelve-hour shifts and with a minimum amount of staff.
Management are always ready to hear any concerns when they are available.
The activities team are to be highly commended for their efforts to keep the residents entertained,
and also the resident's friends and family.
There does appear to be a high turnover of staff, many excellent people have moved on which is a little unsettling to both residents and their visitors, fortunately, the new staff seem to integrate quite quickly.

Thank you Steve, for a very honest and constructive review. In our residents and relatives meeting on Tuesday this week, we were told by those present that we now had the best staff we had ever had, and everyone felt the staffing levels were excellent. Perhaps the complimentary cheese and wine went to their heads!

My late husband lived at Oaktree Court for just over two years. He was very happy there and made several friends amongst the residents. He enjoyed the activities and trips out in the minibus. The food was very good and varied and I often had lunch with my husband.
The end of life care could not have
been better. We were so well supported along the way by the Manager and hid dedicated staff.

A member of my family came to your care home December 2016, after a spell in hospital. With only wanting them to have the best level of care, I came and visited before they moved in. My first impressions were it was clean, the staff were very friendly and every member of staff I saw spoke and said hello.
They have settled in well, and seem to be a lot happier. There are activities every day and any residents I have met all seem to be happy here. I have recommended Oak Tree Court to several people and will carry on doing so. This is the best move my family member has ever done and the happiest I have seen them for a long time. Thank you!

Oaktree Court has been just perfect for the care needed by my grandad. He initially found the thought of being in a care home terrible but is now thoroughly enjoying the care, company and taking part in everything they offer from afternoon activities to trips out in the minibus, which would have been
a struggle for a family member to get him to do! He is certainly happier and he seems more content since moving here.
When I arrive with my busy children we are always greeted with friendly smiles and cheerful hellos from both staff and other residents. The staff always make time to stop and chat to us all. I really enjoy looking at the photo board and the weekly newsletter with a write up of what has been happening and the timetable of the activities for the week ahead. It gives us a talking point and a little reminder for my grandad too.

We found the management and staff to be extremely dedicated, caring, respectful and kind in their care of my father during the last few days of his life. He wanted to move from hospital back to Oaktree Court and they facilitated it. They also treated my mother and all of the family in a similar way,
nothing was too much trouble. They enabled all of us to spend the last night with him, and the end was very peaceful. Thank you again for your care and compassion.

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.297)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.297) out of 10 for Oaktree Court Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.5 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.783 for Oaktree Court Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (72 Excellents x 5) + (20 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 92 Ratings = 4.783

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.514 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Oaktree Court Care Home is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 56 registered maximum number of service users is 11.2. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 11.2 = 0.714

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
