I have found the carers to be very friendly and caring towards my mother. They are always ready to stop and help her with any problem e.g when the bulb in her bedside light failed they found her a replacement for the night. She is very nervous about leaving her room and they are doing their best to
persuade her to go outside, she is completely wheelchair bound and incontinent. She did agree to go on a short trip recently to a garden centre but I don't think this will be repeated because of her painful back. I do admire their great patience and encouragement.

Mum had a 2 week respite at the home but after returning to her home decided to return permanently. She had enjoyed her stay and chose to go back. She has a lovely, clean, bright room with en suite shower room, which enables her to maintain some of her independence. She is able to call on staff if required
and thinks they are all lovely. She has been weighed twice while here and gained weight both times its good to know that she is eating three meals a day (which she wasn't before) The staff invite her to all activities but by choice she's selective, she has been out on trips on the minibus which she really enjoyed, she feels safe and happy here. It was her 95th birthday on Thursday and was thrilled staff and the manager took time and trouble to come to her room and sing Happy Birthday and provide a lovely iced cake with candles.

My mother in law has really settled in to this care home and she is obviously very happy there. She enjoys the location pleasant surroundings etc and the care staff, nurses, and manager all work hard to meet her needs and ensure her experience is good in all respects. Her room is good and although lacing
mobility she has settled in really well, much better than we ever expected. I would really recommend this care home.

All staff very helpful and obliging any issues dealt with promptly and sympathetically. My other was very comfortable and enjoyed a good relationship with all the staff. Alternative meals are provided on occasions when the menu was inappropriate or not to mothers taste.

My 98 year old mother went into Oaktree Court in August 2015 to a beautiful en-suite room with her own door onto a patio, good quality curtains and décor. She was originally a very distressed lady reluctant to be in a nursing home but with extreme kindness, care and lovely sense of humour, she came
to accept it as her home. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and after a very nasty prolonged illness she died peacefully and with great dignity. Her chief carer voluntarily came in on her day off to make her look as nice as possible in death.

My mother entered the home on Wednesday of last week intending to assess (1) the concept of being in a home generally and (2) Oak Tree court in particular in a single week's respite care. Yesterday, Monday, she decided to stay permanently at Oak Tree Court, largely on the strength of the quality of
the facilities and the friendliness and professionalism of the staff. My sisters and brothers are very pleased that Mum has made a good decision at the time that is right for her!

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.297)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.297) out of 10 for Oaktree Court Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.5 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.783 for Oaktree Court Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (72 Excellents x 5) + (20 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 92 Ratings = 4.783

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.514 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Oaktree Court Care Home is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 56 registered maximum number of service users is 11.2. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 11.2 = 0.714

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Hi, I'm Marie, Home Manager at Oaktree Court!

I am absolutely delighted to be back at Oaktree Court as Home Manager! Having previously held this role from January 2019 to October 2021, it feels wonderful to return to such a warm and welcoming community. After moving to Shropshire for a time, I’m now back in Somerset and couldn’t be happier to have rejoined the team.

As a Registered Nurse, my background spans a variety of areas, including Paediatrics, Accident & Emergency, Police Forensic Nursing, Substance Misuse, Rapid Response, Acute Medical Wards, and Out-of-Hours GP Specialist Nursing. I’ve also managed nursing agencies and care homes, as well as held regional and compliance roles.

Providing exceptional care, upholding high standards, and advocating for residents has always been at the heart of my work. I love getting to know our residents and their families, and I’m always happy to have an informal chat about life at Oaktree Court. If you’d like to know more, please do get in touch!
