With a devoted and long-serving team, many of whom have worked there for over 15 and even 20 years, The Rosary has a special, family feel. And while the building and the gardens are stunning, it’s the high standard of care which makes it really stand out.

As well as providing nursing, dementia and palliative care, the team offer respite care breaks which can be pre-booked in advance, as well as day care.

The team are passionate about Sanctuary Care’s unique Enriching Lives Framework, based on the six senses people need to feel truly happy and fulfilled, a sense of belonging, continuity, achievement, purpose, significance and security. Using this, they work with their residents to live life to the full and achieve their goals.

The residents enjoy some fantastic activities, from baking and flower arranging, to ‘virtually’ cycling to destinations around the globe from the comfort of home using Motiview, an incredible piece of technology where they peddle through their chosen destination on a static bike, with a special screen to enjoy the views.

With a hairdressing salon, residents enjoy weekly visits from a mobile hairdresser, as well as pamper sessions, with manicures and massages.

The secure gardens are spectacular, with raised beds for residents to enjoy growing their own. This summer they have grown everything from herbs to carrots and tomatoes. The residents have harvested their produce, which has been used in the kitchens where the chef creates delicious home-cooked meals every day, as well as home baking for afternoon tea.

Every Christmas the home’s award-winning maintenance man transforms the gardens into a spectacular winter wonderland, with thousands of festive lights.

Many of the ensuite bedrooms, as well as the main lounges, overlook the Quantock Hills, while others overlook Durleigh Reservoir, where you can see the boats in the summer.

This depends on your care needs and the type of bedroom that is right for you, from our standard rooms through to our premium bedroom options.

My mum moved here in September 2022. The Rosary is an amazing, spacious place and very clean. All staff in different departments treat my mum with respect and dignity and for this I'm very grateful and know my mum is safe and well looked after. Very much appreciated by me and my mum. I can't thank them
enough, they also take care of me. They keep me informed in Mum's care via GP, OT etc with dates and time's so I can be there and involved in Mum's care. Good communication. The food and options are marvellous, activities are great and residents are involved in them and get a say and input.
(In my mum's own words; all staff from all departments are caring, lovely and respectful, food is lovely and the care home is lovely and gardens and views)

I have heard horror stories about nursing homes, so I was worried when Dad had to go into one. However, The Rosary Nursing Home is amazing. They called me before Dad even arrived to reassure me. His room is spacious and beautiful with a stunning view. He is a different man now - he is eating so much
more as the food is marvellous and he loves his surroundings. They care for my dad wonderfully - but they also care for me. I trust them implicitly with Dad's care! They have made a difficult time so much easier!

My mum is unable to assist with this review properly, but I do know she gets on well with the staff. When I visit, she is always wanting to say hello to them and greets them well. When I am around, the staff always treat my mum with respect and dignity. For this, I am very grateful.

All staff are very welcoming, friendly and work really hard. They have cared for both my parents (sadly mum is no longer with us) but Dad has been given the utmost care we could wish for, as at times he can be difficult. They gave Mum the same amazing care and every staff member was outside when Mum
took her final journey. It was so moving to watch them all shed a tear for her and it was a very lovely send-off from the care home. I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

The Rosary is the second care home we tried for our Mother. While in the first home she was always restless, always wanting to leave, and sometimes challenging in her behaviour, since she has been here she has been happy and contented. She is getting excellent care and really likes the staff - she refers
to them as her friends. She seems once again to be enjoying life. Arrangements for family visits are excellent and we have enjoyed sitting in the sun in the garden together. The Rosary staff are friendly, professional, caring, competent and lovely! Thank you.

Staff are caring, patient and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble. Food is excellent and is always presented nicely.

My husband has been a resident for 14+ months and during all of that time the care shown has been exemplary. Thanks to all of the people involved in his care my husband is as content and settled in the home as possible. He always enjoys his meals which are always to a very high standard and the chef
is happy to cook the steak we take in for him as a treat. Simply outstanding care on all fronts from the hardworking team.

Mum went in for a five night respite stay, she was left over two and a half hours before changing her and wet her trousers which were soaked from top to bottom. She then developed a UTI and her sore on the side became much worse.
The equipment initially used hurt her but they did manage to find the
correct equipment.
This was our first time of putting Mum in care for us to have a rest which in the end caused more stress.
However, the staff were lovely, I just think more care and attention is needed.

Overall, the home is very good. The area of improvement needed would be the laundry - lost, even though labelled and stuffed into the wardrobe, not folded or hung neatly. The corridors smell strongly of urine. These are the two things that let the home down.

Although the staff are lovely and try their best, there is always a lot of poor practice that goes on due to being poorly managed and by staff not being valued or listened to. Staff try their best but are not supported. Things don't always get reported to families and when they do they are not always
accurate descriptions of what happened.

I am very satisfied with the care that my husband receives from the nursing and care staff. He seems settled and as contented as is possible, in his condition. It is a comfort to me that I was able to get him a place in the Rosary. Staff are helpful and friendly to visitors. They are trying their best
with the extra burden of work from tests and more complicated admittance procedures, due to covid precautions. I do find it disappointing that staffing is not adequate to enable ironing of residents' clothing after the necessarily fairly brutal laundering required to ensure hygiene. I think the manager and staff do an excellent job but am less convinced in that from "Head Office". I think there should be a programme of visits to see what work is really like on the front line! If I worked on a dementia unit I would not think it much of a thank you "for being a hero" to be told to dress in a superhero costume at work for a week!

My mother came to The Rosary in the midst of the pandemic and was made to feel welcome and at home immediately. The management of this nursing home is excellent as is the care given by nurses, carers and ancillary staff. This means that my mother's family have the reassurance that she is in the right
place for her and that she is safe.
