With a devoted and long-serving team, many of whom have worked there for over 15 and even 20 years, The Rosary has a special, family feel. And while the building and the gardens are stunning, it’s the high standard of care which makes it really stand out.

As well as providing nursing, dementia and palliative care, the team offer respite care breaks which can be pre-booked in advance, as well as day care.

The team are passionate about Sanctuary Care’s unique Enriching Lives Framework, based on the six senses people need to feel truly happy and fulfilled, a sense of belonging, continuity, achievement, purpose, significance and security. Using this, they work with their residents to live life to the full and achieve their goals.

The residents enjoy some fantastic activities, from baking and flower arranging, to ‘virtually’ cycling to destinations around the globe from the comfort of home using Motiview, an incredible piece of technology where they peddle through their chosen destination on a static bike, with a special screen to enjoy the views.

With a hairdressing salon, residents enjoy weekly visits from a mobile hairdresser, as well as pamper sessions, with manicures and massages.

The secure gardens are spectacular, with raised beds for residents to enjoy growing their own. This summer they have grown everything from herbs to carrots and tomatoes. The residents have harvested their produce, which has been used in the kitchens where the chef creates delicious home-cooked meals every day, as well as home baking for afternoon tea.

Every Christmas the home’s award-winning maintenance man transforms the gardens into a spectacular winter wonderland, with thousands of festive lights.

Many of the ensuite bedrooms, as well as the main lounges, overlook the Quantock Hills, while others overlook Durleigh Reservoir, where you can see the boats in the summer.

I was impressed with the general appearance of the whole place form front door in. Management did all they could to show and tell me how things worked and were run. Although I hadn't made a definite decision to use The Rosary it was made for me as we had to work quickly and I can only say it has worked
out really well! Great staff at every level. Thank you, everyone.

Staff are very friendly. Any problems we have we can talk to management within 24hours. Home is very clean and you always have plenty of snacks and drinks for the residents. Keep up the good work.

I feel that there is not enough staff. My family member is not able to stand, let alone walk. So when they need to pass water/use their bowels, they can be waiting for anything up to 1 hour for assistance. This is why on occasions my family member then needs to be taken back to their room to be changed.

left unlocked. Other residents found asleep on bed, TV remote goes missing. Always looking for staff. Resident left either in bed/lounge. No activities.

Lack of activities, shortage of staff, having to wait at least 30 minutes at times to be taken to the bathroom, having had to help staff by wheeling the resident to the bathroom as there wasn't another member of staff to help. Rooms left unlocked, found another resident in his bed.


TV remote went

missing, always having to look for a member of staff for assistance. Resident left either in bed or sat in the lounge all day.

My mother became a resident in the nursing home five weeks ago. Since residing there as a family we have been very pleased in her overall care. The staff and management have settled her in so well and are very responsive to her needs.
The food is excellent and of a good variety, and we can heap praise
on the excellent afternoon cakes and tea. The nursing staff are very pleasant with a good sense of humour. Could certainly recommend this home.

Care and support is excellent, staff treat residents as if they were their own family. Nothing appears to be too much trouble. Residents are treated with a high degree of dignity and a genuinely caring staff team spirit exists throughout. There appears to be a high degree of respect and co-operation
between management and the staff, with the staff appearing to perform to the best of their ability because they want to, as opposed to because they have got to, signs of both good staff and personal management. The facilities are modern, catering to individual needs, rooms are furnished with modern furniture, cleanliness throughout is again to the highest standard. Very high-quality food and drink is served efficiently and on time. Activity programmes provide for a varied theme daily. Safety and security is excellent without being intrusive. An internal safety system operates with multiple staff monitoring points for door and window opening, access and exiting the building is by push-button control. I am a professional management tutor and I have no hesitation in stating, in my opinion, The Rosary is both excellent in care and very good value for money.

We would like to see some plain English food and assistance with cutting it up, also a bib, they never seem to arrive.


For £975 a week, paid by us, sometimes it's a bit disappointing.

I do not know anything about the management, cost or facilities. I have been visiting my friend for a number of years in this care home and have found the staff to be friendly and caring and ready to listen and act on any concerns which have been mentioned. So much depends on the numbers of staff on
duty. This is not an easy task in any way to care for loved ones who have severe dementia and a lot depends on the mentors who have the responsibility to teach the new beginners and show them carefully what is needed.

Following a spell in hospital, my 79-year-old husband has been recuperating for the last six weeks at The Rosary. As he is on a large number of pills (medication) and eye-drops so his care is not simple. I have found the staff at all levels, helpful, kind and competent during this and previous stays.
There are also interesting things available during afternoons (such as music entertainer).

My father was taken ill and admitted to hospital. He was my mother's carer and as a result, we had to find somewhere for my mother to stay as she could not look after herself at home. Social Services were contacted and the Rosary was recommended to us. On arrival, we were met by the manager who welcomed
my mother and took us to her room which is en-suite and has a window overlooking the Quantock hills. She was made very welcome and shown where things were and how to get assistance. Due to circumstances, her stay has been made permanent. She is being very well looked after and all the staff are very friendly and helpful. The meals are very good and if required relatives are able to have lunch on site during their visit if pre-booked at a small cost. Mother is transported by the home to hospital appointments when needed with a carer to look after her. Activity days are provided for residents to take part in if they wish. I would like to say a very big thank you to all staff.
