Ashley Grange is a delightful character residential and nursing home, nestled in the beautiful Wiltshire countryside and on the stunning New Forest border. Located just outside of the beautiful village of Downton, Ashley Grange has a cosy, homely atmosphere that provides a safe, happy and comfortable environment for those who call it home.

The home features 50 spacious bedrooms, most are en suite and many rooms enjoy stunning views of the expansive landscaped grounds. Ashley Grange offers a range of communal spaces including several lounges, a conservatory, a lifestyle kitchen and a dining area to enjoy homemade meals and which also supports group activities and time spent with friends.

The fully trained, caring and compassionate team are committed to offering three underlying core values – care, comfort and companionship. Ashley Grange provides a social and friendly setting with a full programme of activities to ensure that residents' interests, hobbies and skills are maintained along with trips out into the community.

Along with this the home benefits from a hairdressing salon, all inclusive laundry service and coffee machines. Video calling with family and friends is also available.

My mother is like a changed lady, smiling happily and relayed. The staff are very courteous and made her feel at home.

I spent 24 hours at the home during my aunt's sudden deterioration and her death. During this time the kindness and care shown to myself and my aunt was exemplary. From the moment I arrived, warmth, kindness and excellent nursing care. Spotless cleanliness and I could not fault any part of my experience
during a very difficult time. I want to mention every member of staff I can across was polite kind and respectful. My background is in healthcare and I cannot praise the home enough, it is a long time since I have seen such high standards and empathy from every member of staff consistently over my whole visit.

I've visited several times prior to this but the whole atmosphere in the care home had changed this time. The staff were very attentive and social, I was happy to ask questions without feeling it was an inconvenience and the empathy with residents was very apparent. The place felt homely and there was
a sense of belonging, something I hadn't felt before. Keep it up please.

This home was absolutely dreadful! Read the CQC report - it highlights most of what myself and my Mum went through. Everybody at the home lied including when a complaint was made with the evidence.
This all happened between March and June 2022. I believe there were many complaints which is why CQC
stepped in. It's unfair to list all my concerns as measures may be in place to correct them but if you are thinking of using this home, read the report and then satisfy yourself that changes can be maintained.

We were disappointed to read your review of Ashley Grange, we take all feedback very seriously. Since the CQC inspection, we have been working hard with them and our stakeholders to deliver a quality improvement plan. Over the past six months, since your mother left our home, we have a new management team in place, who have made significant progress in implementing the necessary changes. A rigorous recruitment drive has been delivered, including the appointment of a senior nurse to bolster the team and enhance residents' well-being. A state-of-the-art nurse call system has been installed to improve the safety of our residents. In addition, Ashley Grange has been undergoing extensive renovations, with a significant investment of approx. £750k to improve the facilities and decor throughout the property. Following a recent relative, staff, and resident survey, we have been pleased with the positive response and acknowledgement of the improvements seen throughout the home.

On my departure from hospital to my arrival at Ashley Grange Nursing Home, my initial greeting I would give 100%. The bedroom was ready to a five-star standard. The manageress is beautiful. The staff are well presented. Extremely 100% well medically experienced and know the full meaning of tender loving
care without a doubt. The cleanliness is 200%. The chef is 1000%. The medical staff 500%. Everything is recommendable.

My mother was only at the home for just under two weeks before she died. I should like to thank the manager and her team for all of their support. The manager helped enormously, responding instantly to assist in facilitating her discharge from hospital and into the home, it was a very difficult time.
The evidence of attention to mum's personal care and respect for her dignity was immediately evident and we were able to visit as and when we wanted. We were able to be with our mum when she passed during which time, we experienced respect and support. Every worker I encountered from a nurse to a cleaner was friendly responsive and extremely helpful. Please note that mum was bedridden and semi-conscious for the duration of her stay, so my experience of the services was limited. However, the residents I did encounter looked happy, well presented and supervised.

I have been extremely happy during my stay. The staff treat you with dignity and any problems are dealt with quickly. My room was cleaned daily and I would highly recommend the nursing home. The food is amazing. Laundry service very good.

My husband was admitted here from hospital. They have gradually brought him nearly back to the man that went into hospital. He loves all the staff and a few have been especially kind to him, especially when he feels agitated and nervous.

My mother stayed at Ashley Grange for about 5 years. During that time she has received excellent care, attention, and support. The staff are kind and always kept the family informed if a change in mum's condition or treatment occurred. During mum's final days and hours there was always someone with
her when the family were not in attendance.

After not being able to visit for almost two years my visit yesterday was very impressive! The home is in the process of refurbishment and what a pleasant place to see! Most of the ground floor is finished with bright walls and new flooring throughout. Pleasant smells everywhere, smiling, happy staff
everywhere. Covid checks are made on entering and hopefully, this will keep the home germ-free!

I went to see my mother for the first time at Ashley Grange and I was extremely happy with the staff, my mother's room, the facilities, and most of all my mother was very comfortable and happy with everything. Mum also said that the food was excellent! The home was originally a stop-off for my mother
after hospital but now we have decided that the home offers everything that my mother needs.

Mum has only recently gone to the home but the staff seem very caring and the room is very clean. The staff are requesting background information about Mum so they can build a care plan which as a family we really appreciate the effort.

Poor communication, conflicting reports, unable to contact as phones unanswered. Some staff were rude and abrupt. No handwashing facilities on entry as taps not working.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review about Ashley Grange. As we understand it, you have spoken with the operations director and she was able to discuss with you some of your concerns. We acknowledge that the home is currently undergoing an extensive refurbishment and as such, the hand wash basin is no longer in use in reception. However, adequate facilities are offered including hand sanitiser, prior to putting on full PPE for visits.
We are sorry you felt the team were anything other than professional and that the phones were not answered in a timely manner. All our team are working exceptionally long hours to support the increased pressures in the care sector due to the pandemic and we are aware there is always frustration when staff are unable to share confidential information over the phone. We always look to learn and develop our service through feedback so we thank you for allowing us to have responded prior to your review.

My aunt has been a resident at Ashley Grange for 3 years now. She was made to feel very welcome from the minute she arrived even though it was late in the day. The staff were so kind and understanding towards her. I know she feels very safe in her surroundings and all the staff have been amazing during
the very difficult period of lockdown.

Although this review is confined to the last 12 months my comments relate to the care my wife has enjoyed for the last six years. During this time the quality of care in all departments, and the dedication shown by all staff have been consistently first class. My only reservation is that the infrastructure
of the site is getting 'tired' and some refurbishing is needed (in particular the car parking area, including the abandoned building site at the Western area of the site.)

I am a nurse with more than 20 years of experience in healthcare, having specialised in various areas, particularly in palliative and end-of-life care. A lifelong desire to support others has been my driving force. I have successfully channelled this passion and my desire to create a positive influence as a registered nurse. I find great joy in building connections with my residents and being a part of their development and well-being. Since my graduation, I have committed myself to the development and improvement of healthcare systems, processes, and policies, consistently aiming to deliver the highest quality of care to my residents.


As Deputy Manager, I aim to create a supportive atmosphere for both our residents and staff. I strive to embody excellence, foster compassion and empathy, and guide a cohesive team that recognises the opportunities for enhanced success through collaboration.
