I think the care home management and staff at Goatacre do a wonderful job looking after my mother. The home is always clean and tidy. They organise plenty of entertainment when possible. The garden area is much improved and they now have a vegetable garden.

This is a lovely care home. The staff are all excellent. The facilities have been upgraded recently and offer all that is needed plus more. The events and programmes that are continually provided, offer residents a wealth of opportunities to be involved with others and keep stimulus ongoing. Great place!

I am very pleased we chose to make Goatacre Manor Care Centre my mum's permanent home for the following reasons: the staff are kind, caring, gentle, well-selected and well trained. Whatever their role in the team they treat my mum with respect and recognise her individuality. Above all, they are prepared
to listen to any concerns and work with relatives and service users to achieve best possible outcomes. The team there have remained outwardly cheerful and amenable despite the ever-changing demands of this long covid pandemic.

Such kind people throughout, very personable and helpful. Superb level of personal care and attention to detail. The whole place is immaculate and never smells of anything untoward. Lots of stimulation and beautiful gardens, which are carefully thought out to give everybody lovely natural views. Nursing
staff are so efficient and on the ball with all levels of care. Administration is so well organised, and their receptionist always makes you feel welcome, and she goes out of her way to facilitate visits and families requests. This is the third home for my grandma, and we won’t be moving her again as we have struck gold! Thank you so much, everyone.

My wife has been a resident for just over two years. From the outset, I have had confidence in the care that residents received at Goatacre Manor. The staff are diligent, meticulous in their care and consistently friendly and patient, even with residents who are challenging in their behaviour. The nursing
staff are particularly careful in keeping me informed of changes in my wife's health.

My father was a resident from August 2019 until he died in December. During this time, he received excellent care, and my mother and I always felt welcome there. His physical needs increased during his time there, and we felt the nurses and carers we incredibly kind. Sadly, he died during the night
and we weren't given sufficient notice to get there, despite being only a 10-minute drive away. We haven’t heard from Goatacre since, which has left us feeling very let down - not even a phone call or condolence card from the home.

My mum and dad are both residents of Goatacre and have very different needs; Mum has dementia and Dad is virtually bedridden. In both cases, we can not fault the caring, kind and loving way in which they are treated in the home by all members of the team. As very regular visitors to the home (before
Covid-19) we felt welcomed and very much part of the Goatacre community. The roles of staff are varied and clear but the care is uniform at the highest level with staff going way beyond their defined roles to ensure the happiness and well being of residents.
There seems to be an excellent team spirit that has helped considerably in the recent difficult days. We had huge appreciation of the previous manager and his ability to treat families with respect and assume that this will continue under the new manager who seems to have made a positive start (at the most challenging of times) but who we are yet to get to know.

Goatacre Care Home have looked after my great aunt for the last 4.5 years. She is very happy there, and all the staff are absolutely brilliant. They are kind, considerate and their attentiveness is second to none. I would definitely recommend Goatacre.

I have not had much experience of the new manager as yet as it is early days. The previous manager, however, could never do too much to be helpful and facilitate individual requests for care, for their loved ones.
The staff at Goatacre are simply amazing, they clearly genuinely care for the residents,
and in doing the best by them on a daily basis.
In addition to taking the time to get to know the resident, they put a similar level into getting to know the extended family in order to offer reassurance when required.
Though lockdown has been particularly difficult in not having face to face contact with the residents, I have been completely confident in the staff to make contact and update me about any issues.

A wonderful caring community with the needs of the residents at the core of care provision. Our Mum received lovely care over a 2 year period. She was the lady who "danced to her own tune!" however all of the staff at Goatacre responded to her with dignity and respect - always.
Towards the end of
Mums life and diminishing mobility, all of the staff would regularly just pop into her room to say hello and have a chat - over and above attending to her basic nursing needs. When she was well and more mobile staff would take her on outings which she loved!
As a family, we too were in receipt of their care. My brother travelled some distance to visit our Mum, often arriving late in the evening. He was always met with a smile and a cuppa!
As a former registered nurse, I couldn't fault the care Mum received.
As a grateful family, it was always comforting and reassuring to say goodbye knowing she would be in the best hands. We highly recommend Goatacre Manor Care Centre.

The whole experience of caring for the residents was simply first class. He was treated with compassion and dignity. His wishes were considered and he was made to feel that Goatacres was now his home and helped to be comfortable with the change in his circumstances.
The care and support was excellent

My dad was transferred to Goatacre for his end of life care, after having been in hospital for two weeks, and the care that he received was exceptional. The manager and his fantastic team were professional, diligent, kind and full of empathy towards my dad, and this extended to me and my family too.
The end of life for the family of a loved one is incredibly harrowing, but the staff looked after us so brilliantly every step of the way. The home itself is also very calm and relaxed. You really feel like you are part of a family while you are there and the residents all seem very happy to be there. Goatacre exceeded our expectations by such a long way. They made my dad's last week of life as comfortable and as stress-free as they could, and for that, we cannot thank them enough.

Very much home from home feeling when going into the home. Staff all very helpful and friendly. Very hard to get in touch with the manager as always in meetings. It took a week for the manager to reply to my telephone call.

Stephanie Gould

Job Title: Registered Manager

Joined: 2020

Stephanie has a background in nursing that spans 44 years. At the beginning of this journey, she worked as a care assistant in an Orthopaedic Ward and a Burns and Plastic Surgery ward prior to commencing her nurse training.


She has had many interests in her career including Care of the Elderly – Orthopaedic Rehabilitation and Care of the Elderly General Medicine, Trauma and Orthopaedics – including caring for patients who may have required orthopaedic elective or trauma surgery and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation and General Surgery, as well as Tissue Viability.


Originally from Wales, Stephanie worked in a Care of the Elderly Medical and Rehabilitation Ward and an Orthopaedic Rehabilitation Ward and for a short while on a GP inpatient unit. Whilst working in Wales, she attained the then Welsh National Board 914 Care of the Elderly Certificate. She also worked as a Tissue Viability Specialist Nurse, leading an Acute Service.


More recently, she has worked at a Private Hospital, as ward manager in the General Surgery Ward, and on secondment as the Deputy Clinical Services Manager.


Stephanie is passionate about good nursing care and always looking to support those individuals she is caring for to have a voice, be respected and be treated with compassion, dignity and empathy.


Stephanie is supported by a highly trained, committed and genuinely caring team of registered nurses, care assistants, activities coordinators, administrators, catering, maintenance and housekeepers. The nurses and care assistants provide care 24 hours per day.
