Extremely happy with the standard of care my Dad received between August 2018 and Jan 2019. Staff were skilled and compassionate and we were given plenty of advice and support in the final weeks of his life. It made a huge difference and we will always be grateful for that at such a difficult time.

I have found this care home welcoming, friendly and happy. Good food, warm, very clean, helpful and informative. Nothing is too much trouble, very happy staff, each and every one. Good/excellent nursing. Patient with residents. I cannot talk too highly of this wonderful place. The above comments are

I have been very worried about where mum would go but now I'm relieved and happy we have found this wonderful home for her.

Putting my grannie into a care home was a heartbreaking decision for my mum and I. Grannie has lived with my mum for approximately 15 years. She was diagnosed with Alzheimers approximately 5 years ago, she has been declining in her mental state, although physically she is very well. Goatacre is so welcoming,
grannie is kept entertained through the day by singing, dancing and the PAT dog, she interacts with the team and other residents. She hasn't fallen because they keep a close eye on her. I cannot remember the last time I slept so well without worrying about her.

My dad has been a resident for a year now. Dad receives excellent care and his accommodation is clean and comfortable. All the staff and management are very caring and supportive. All meals are cooked there and are plenty of choices. I am happy in the knowledge that dad is safe and secure and he is

Goatacre Manor has provided excellent care for my mother who suffered devastating strokes two years ago. The nursing and care staff cannot be faulted. The genuine care and affection shown to my mother and myself was exemplary. Mum and I could have wished for nothing more.

My father became a permanent resident at Goatacre Manor in November 2018. He came to the care centre following a long stay in hospital. Initially, my sister and I were very concerned about moving him out of hospital, as at this time, he was very frail and suffering from vascular dementia. However, we
needn't have worried, as from day one he was well cared for and given his dignity. The staff were so very kind and couldn't do enough for him. We were extremely impressed by the standard of care and the attention they gave him. Importantly, for us the staff got to know my Dad in an extremely short space of time, understanding his likes and dislikes and treating with the upmost respect. My father sadly passed away in January 2019 but we were so grateful he died so peacefully at Goatacre Manor rather than in the hospital. After he died, my sister and I received wonderful support from all the staff at the home. We are so glad my father was able to spend his last few days around such kind, caring people.

Last year, I wrote how the awful experience of placing a loved one in care was made so much easier by the manager and the team at Goatacre Manor. This year, I write how, in those last moments, we were invited to stay in the onsite accommodation to be close by where we could stay by his bedside. Nothing

From the day I first entered this Nursing Home, I knew that my friend with dementia was in a safe, professionally run and caring environment. All the staff I met were very pleasant and kept me well informed of my friends daily routine and progress. Subsequent visits reaffirmed that once again the staff
were very professional, friendly, cheerful and reassuring throughout my time at Goatacre Manor. I would certainly recommend this nursing home to anyone who finds they or their family and friends are sadly in need of looking after. A first class service delivered by a first class team.

We could not have found a better place for Mother except at home, but we could not give her the help she needed.

Sadly my best friend was only here for a week, she was treated with respect and dignity.
All the staff that I met were lovely, including kitchen staff and management. I would recommend this lovely place to anyone, the place was always spotless and clean, even the food was lovely.

My mother went to Goatacre Manor Care Home to recover from a stroke in July 2018. Sadly she passed away in September, but the care provided by the staff in the time she was there was second to none. She was always well looked after. Doctors appointments made and family informed. The staff were extremely
helpful and made us all feel confident in the care my mother received.

My great uncle has been a respite resident of Goatacre Manor many times and I have to give praise to all staff, whether it be nursing, care, administration, housekeeping or management, they all work tirelessly to make sure my uncle is happy, content and well cared for.
He always enjoys his time at
Goatacre Manor, there are many social activities that he participates in and which he really enjoys. He has been taken out on day trips to local beauty spots and has enjoyed the occasional strawberry ice cream. The food is all home cooked and is locally sourced, which helps local businesses. My uncle had a spacious bedroom, which looked out onto the beautiful garden areas and when the weather was good, sat outside and enjoyed them. I have always found the care home to be well kept i.e. clean and very tidy.
I would have no hesitation in recommending this care home, it is truly excellent!

I cannot praise the manager and staff enough for the care they are giving and showing my aunt. We last saw her in hospital and to see how much she has improved is remarkable. I was worried she wouldn't settle being an independent lady but she is so happy and content. Nothing is too much trouble for
the staff and they all have a happy disposition which reflects onto residents and visitors. We were able to spend the weekend with her as we were offered a flat due to the distance we had to come which was fantastic.

My sister spent the last 3 months of her life at Goatacre.
Everyone - whatever their job - was kind and supportive.
She was in some distress due to her condition and they did their best to make this time as comfortable as possible for her.
At the end, while we sat with her for the last 2 days, the
staff were exceptionally kind and sensitive with their discreet care and attention to detail, based on years of experience.
They made a very difficult time into a very special time for us all.

My brother spent his last end of life 10 days at Goatacre Manor Care Centre. When visiting him at that time it was my experience to find a nice professional but very caring nursing home in which he looked after so well for his last days at this very difficult time.
I know that he was as happy and contented
at this time as any person can be in the circumstances at this very emotional time.
Our family are very thankful to all the staff for all their kind care both to my brother and I received when there.

My late husband was a resident for end of life care following his battle with cancer. The welcome and friendly support of wonderful staff made this awful time more bearable. Nothing was too much trouble for the senior manager, nursing staff and carers. My husband was given a private out of the way room
so we could have space and private family time before he passed away. The only small criticism I have is that to access my husband we had to meander through numerous corridors and elderly residents, most of which had dementia, we found this uncomfortable especially as my husband was young in this place.

My father was admitted to 'Goatacre Manor Care Centre' towards the end of his life, spending only a month in their care. He was admitted at very short notice, when as a family, we became unable to continue to care for him at his home. From the day of his admission, we found attitude and care at the
home to be excellent and we know that my father was as happy as possible over the time he had there.

My wife was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2011. Despite partial left lung resection and chemo the cancer appeared in the lymph glands and then secondary in bones. Home care became impossible and we were really lucky to obtain an en-suite room at Goatacre Manor. The staff were marvellous, so kind and
considerate. My sons and I ensure that at least one of us were there all the time. The help we received was wonderful. Thank you Goatacre.

Taken into care at 'Goatacre Manor Care Centre' by ambulance direct from hospital in very poor condition. Unable to use my legs or feet through extreme pain (arthritis). Over the next three months vary caring physiotherapists and staff enabled me to move my legs over the edge of the bed, gaining confidence
more with help into an armchair. From there the 2 physiotherapists arranged for me to use the physiotherapy pool and then moving onto take a few steps with a zimmer frame. Brought home in August by nurse and physiotherapists. Now with the help of my registered carer and son, I am learning to walk again.

Stephanie Gould

Job Title: Registered Manager

Joined: 2020

Stephanie has a background in nursing that spans 44 years. At the beginning of this journey, she worked as a care assistant in an Orthopaedic Ward and a Burns and Plastic Surgery ward prior to commencing her nurse training.


She has had many interests in her career including Care of the Elderly – Orthopaedic Rehabilitation and Care of the Elderly General Medicine, Trauma and Orthopaedics – including caring for patients who may have required orthopaedic elective or trauma surgery and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation and General Surgery, as well as Tissue Viability.


Originally from Wales, Stephanie worked in a Care of the Elderly Medical and Rehabilitation Ward and an Orthopaedic Rehabilitation Ward and for a short while on a GP inpatient unit. Whilst working in Wales, she attained the then Welsh National Board 914 Care of the Elderly Certificate. She also worked as a Tissue Viability Specialist Nurse, leading an Acute Service.


More recently, she has worked at a Private Hospital, as ward manager in the General Surgery Ward, and on secondment as the Deputy Clinical Services Manager.


Stephanie is passionate about good nursing care and always looking to support those individuals she is caring for to have a voice, be respected and be treated with compassion, dignity and empathy.


Stephanie is supported by a highly trained, committed and genuinely caring team of registered nurses, care assistants, activities coordinators, administrators, catering, maintenance and housekeepers. The nurses and care assistants provide care 24 hours per day.
