Mum is happy and comfortable in Harnham Croft Care Home, she is cared for very well. The home is friendly and welcoming to relatives and visitors. I spent today with my mum as it is her birthday. The lunch was lovely and nothing was too much trouble for mum so she enjoyed her day.
Staff are good, friendly
and welcoming.

Earlier this year, my wife was diagnosed as terminally ill with an inoperable brain tumour. She was admitted to 'Harnham Croft Care Home' early in March for palliative care. This nursing home was the preference of both of us. We were both very grateful for the care, both medical and general, which the
staff gave her right up to her death on 12th July 2016. It was a very difficult period for me and I am very grateful for the consideration and care they gave me. The whole team is a great credit to the manager whom I came to regard as a friend.

Generally my experience of Harnham Croft was very positive and proactive management, caring staff, good facilities, efficient administration and convenient location. The service bought was for respite care for a 94 year old lady who had broken her arm but in every other respect was mentally and physically
fit. We discovered that most other residents have varying degrees of handicap mentally meaning there was little companionship available for her which rather than criticism, meant her experience was less enjoyable than might other have been the case. The only other observation regards the telephone system that may be organised so that when phoning in one is not disrupting other carers?

My mother came to the home for end of life care, suffering from both cancer and a severe stroke. She was confined to bed most of the time and limited to pureed food. She couldn't speak. The care she received was excellent. Mum was kept beautifully clean. She was treated with dignity at all times and
I felt no concern about her safety or well-being. On the night she passed away the staff were so kind to myself and did not rush anything. Mum was still treated with the same care and dignity afterwards. The home really did try to give her the best quality of life that was possible.

My mother has been a resident in the above home for 8 years. During this time she has been treated with great professionalism, dignity, care and indeed love. She has always felt safe. She has been in bed by necessity for over three years and when she died did not have a mark on her body. Testimony to
excellent care.

Excellent care and support for my sister's short spell at the home. Also excellent for support for myself when my sister died. It gave my sister a better life quality during her short spell there, they were always very friendly.

When my mother-in-law's needs changed and she required full time care it was an anxious time for all. After visiting Harnham Croft and securing a lovely room Mum moved in. I have to say we were relieved to find high levels of care, lovely staff and a good manager in place. I personally felt very supported
and the manager and other staff were available to talk to and to check things out when I needed it. Mum settled in and she was content. She attended activities which was lovely as she had been housebound for some years. It was a good experience and I wholly recommend this carehome. It is with sadness that my mother-in-law suddenly passed away and I really miss her and my visits to the carehome. You see I felt looked after too - tea and cake every afternoon!! Thanks everyone.

For the year and a half that my mother was at this Home I always found the Manager and staff helpful and friendly. My mother's wishes were listened to and she was also able to have some of her own furniture in her room. It was very refreshing to be able to speak to the Manager if there was a problem
or concern with my mother. There was a very good entertainment program each week for those who wanted to participate, including a gardening club, chickens in the garden, choir and visiting dogs. The food was of a good standard and varied. They also had an excellent maintenance man who would put up pictures etc. to make my mother's room look more like her home. Whenever I was visiting my mother I always found that the care staff dealt with her with respect and dignity.


The Nursing Home provided my mother with good care, warmth, food, and support during the last two years of her life for which we are very grateful.

I had to make a fast decision about a nursing home for my father after his illness worsened and he was unable to choose a home for himself. I visited many homes in Salisbury and finally met the Manager and her team at Harnham Croft Nursing Home. I was immediately impressed by the professionalism of
the home compared to others I had visited and how comfortable and relaxed it was. Not like an institution or hospital, it reminded me of my granny's house. Dad had been through a very difficult time and needed attentive care. The nurses and carers are all so friendly and experienced they put my mind at rest that he was in safe hands. The lovely views from the garden were the icing on the cake with even a view of Salisbury Cathedral to top it off!


When dad moved into Harnham Croft, although anxious he immediately bonded with the nurses and carers. Nothing was too much trouble for them and we enjoyed precious quality time together there with many pots of excellent tea, cakes and treats on offer. Over Christmas dad became very frail and the team at Harnham did so much to help cheer him up, including allowing me to decorate his room with all his Christmas decorations and organising an in-room party for all the family on Christmas day so we could be with him. When he needed medication the team were efficient and effective at getting in touch with the doctor to acquire medication. They also pre-empted issues by having medicines in store for him in case he needed them over the holiday. I can honestly say that Harnham Croft made a huge difference to the experience my family and I had of sharing the end of dad's life. Their kindness and consideration meant that we all felt involved and very well informed at all times. I cannot speak highly enough of them having had other very different experiences elsewhere. If all homes were operated this way there would be less agony reported in the newspapers.

After visiting and having dealings with a number of nursing homes with my mother and father in-law, I am delighted to have discovered Harnham Croft as a new home from home for my mum. It feels totally relaxed and welcoming and both my brother and I have commented that it's actually a lovely place to
visit. All the staff I have met have been genuine, highly competent and caring, co-ordinated and professionally managed by the indomitable Manager who I am delighted to have looking after my mum's best interests. Safe and caring hands. Enough said.

After gaining her degree in Geriatric Nursing in Germany, Irene has enjoyed a vast career in the care industry. As a dedicated healthcare professional, Irene has gained a wealth of experience in providing care to elderly people to help enrich their lives, leading to her progression as Home Manager.


Irene closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She extends this caring approach to her Colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that means they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


When asked what she enjoyed most about her role, Irene remarked: “I love working with so many fantastic people to achieve the same goal: to provide the kindest possible care for each Resident.”


Irene credits her biggest achievement to overcoming her fear of heights and completing a skydive from 15000ft in the air.


Outside of work, Irene is a keen dancer and artist and enjoys spending quality time with her family.
