My Mum has lived well with dementia at Merlin Court for 22 months. She is settled, safe and comfortable and well looked after. Mum really enjoys the food, and the many activities taking place at Merlin Court, particularly the visiting musicians and animals. There is always someone, another fellow resident
or member of staff, that she can talk to. All of this is a blessing and ensures she never again experiences the isolation or loneliness of living alone.
Merlin Court is comfortable, tasteful and well-maintained. The whole team there are always friendly, welcoming and caring, and engage well and support me as I navigate my way to ensure Mum has the opportunity to live her best, most comfortable life in her later years.
I knew from the start Merlin Court was the right home for Mum, and would have no hesitation recommending Merlin Court to other families looking for a safe, caring environment for their relative.

We are very proud of our passionate, dedicated very professional staff who pride themselves on delivering the highest standard of personalised care. Daily activity is meaningful and engaging. Staff have individually designed development plans which includes learning dementia care and are motivated and driven toward continued learning. They are remarkable individuals with a great deal to offer. We aim always to be sensitive and responsive to the needs of both residents, staff and family members. Merlin maintains a clean, comfortable and stimulating environment filled with happy and contented individuals. Our Home is truly a unique place to both live and work. It has a real feel of 'home' where staff work alongside residents and their families with the greatest sense of mutual openness, transparency, trust, respect and unity.

Overall the home works well and my mother seems happy and well looked after. It would be good if one member of staff kept an eye on her and could provide updates/feedback. We have no one to ask any questions about her (elements, behaviour etc).

We discuss individual care plans and how we care for residents at daily team meetings. In addition, each and everyday we nominate two 'residents of the day'. This practice supports staff to take care of your loved one in an enhanced and person-centred way. On the nominated day, each team head will give the resident special attention and spend dedicated time with the individual and/or their family to ensure they are fully satisfied with the care they are receiving. Seniors and Care Managers will examine and discuss all aspects of the care plan and give careful consideration to a person's general health and welfare. Family are actively encouraged to attend for discussion and staff welcome wholeheartedly family engagement in how we plan and deliver care. We very much look forward to meeting with you and enhancing your own engagement experience.

My mum spent three weeks at Merlin Court after a hospital stay, and I can't praise the home enough. From the start, we were welcomed into a bright, happy environment with friendly, caring staff.
The activities are fantastic, keeping both mind and body engaged. Mum loved yoga, baking, singing, and dancing,
which helped her regain strength. The onsite hair salon was a great convenience.
Facilities are excellent, with lounges, a library, a conservatory, a cinema, and a free café serving delicious homemade cakes (which I'll miss!). Mum's spacious room had plenty of storage, an en-suite bathroom, and a double bed, making her stay very comfortable.
Most importantly, the care and support from staff has been outstanding. Thanks to their kindness, Mum has recovered well and truly enjoyed her time. A huge thank you to the team for making her stay so positive!
I highly recommend Merlin Court for its exceptional care and warm atmosphere.

Mum has now been at Merlin Court for 10 months after a fall meant she was unable to be cared for at home. So far we are delighted with our choice and Mum is very settled. It took time for her and us to adjust to the realisation that this is now her home and we should engage more with the team over her
specific needs, concerns and personal care plan. In recent meetings the Manager has answered our questions with friendly diligence, offered positive tweaks to the care plan and we feel we have a solid relationship moving forward to make Mum's experience even better. The care team are delightful, the meals are generally excellent and Mum eats well. Her room, and the wider home seem very clean and well-maintained. We have no hesitation in recommending Merlin Court for those looking for a friendly, caring and professional care home.

My mother moved into Merlin Court in late November 2024.
I am very pleased with the standard of care, she has really settled in very well, in fact much better than I was anticipating. I have now had two review meetings with the manager, at which I have been able to raise any concerns, and am pleased
these have been taken on board and dealt with in a timely manner. I am able to email or talk to the manager at any time should I need to, and always get a prompt reply. The Staff are all very friendly and welcoming and clearly know the Residents and their families well. I would have no hesitation in recommending Merlin Court to other families who are looking for a care home for relatives.

I find Merlin Court to be a bright and happy home and very welcoming. It has an atrium which leads out to a nice little garden. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The meals are nicely presented and the quality is to a good standard. They provide daily entertainment which is also varied and stimulating.
It overflows to invite the visitors also. On special occasions eg birthdays they provide a small gift and cake and make it a special time. Overall a home that aspires to a high standard.

My father spent 2 weeks of respite care after a hospital visit. He had a number of complications that the staff handled very well. They were friendly, reassuring and professional and showed genuine empathy even though he was only there for a short time. My father has a restrictive diet and did find
the food repetitive and not very exciting. Apart from that, the rooms are clean and comfortable, and the whole home has a welcoming feel to it. Thank you for looking after him so well.

Friendly, highly professional staff ensure that a wonderful relaxed atmosphere exists. Staff seem to genuinely care about wellbeing of the residents and nothing seems too much trouble. Mum is enjoying her social life at Merlin Court, there is always someone for her to have a chat with. She really likes using the cafe area and being able to entertain visitors with tea and the homemade cakes. There's a full range of activities to choose from, yesterday we were all singing along together
with the visiting banjo player. It's always been important to Mum to have her hair done so she really benefits from the on-site hair salon and is looking forward to seeing the hairdresser tomorrow. Mum receives a daily menu and the meals are beautifully presented in the dining room. However, yesterday Mum decided she wanted her supper brought to her on a tray which the staff willingly did.
The upkeep and cleanliness are of a high standard and there is a comfortable friendly atmosphere. Mum loves the staff because they are all so friendly and kind to her.
The care my Mum receives is exceptional.

I have visited my friend weekly for the last two years. Great empathy has been shown to her since her arrival. Initially unhappy to be in a "home", she is now both settled and content. I have been visiting a close relative in Merlin Court for the last six months. I am hugely impressed with the excellent care and support they get. As soon as you walk into the reception area you are greeted with a big smile and a warm welcome by the receptionist. The carers and nurses are all so kind,
caring, understanding and always show respect and dignity. They all go the extra mile to both residents and families. The room and communal rooms are spotlessly clean. The housekeepers are another very kind and friendly team. Keep up the good work Merlin Court staff.

Before I came to the UK I worked in a hospital where I also worked shifts.


Qualifications that I have gained include a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering which is my proudest achievement I am lucky to have a very good family and I enjoy my job by getting to know everyone.

I have worked in care for around 4-5 years before arriving in the UK, I have also looked after my parents when living in Africa. I think that I am good at my job because I am doing exactly what is expected of me by ensuring that I follow the care plan.


My proudest achievement would be bringing my children up and now that they are here with me also.

I want to make sure that I give the residents a difference between being at home and being in a care home, especially when families are away as we are like one big family. I ensure that everyone is comfortable with us by spending time with them and getting to know them. I was a teacher before this and I wanted something different. Merlin Court is my first care job since moving to the UK.


Qualifications that I have gained are Teaching and Hairdressing, I also have a lot of other qualifications.
My proudest achievement would be that I like to see the residents smile in the morning especially when they say "we missed you".

My proudest achievement is having my two children and six grandchildren, I was also running a public house for ten years.

My proudest achievement would be my wife who is a nurse in Savernake Hospital. My son who finished university and is working as a cardio physiologist in St Georg's hospital in London.
