I would like to thank the staff at Merlin Court Care Home for the love and care they have shown to my mum and dad over the last four years. My dad died last year and we chose that he his last days at Merlin rather than a hospital. We felt supported in every way in the decisions we made and my dad died
with grace and dignity. My mum tells me that she feels lucky because she knows she is safe and my sister and I witness the kindness and respect she receives every time we see her. For that, we are grateful because we can just enjoy being her daughters again.

My mother has now been a resident at Merlin Court for almost two years, and she is very happy there. Every member of the team has been kind and helpful throughout, and when we have had requests or small concerns, these have been listened to and resolved. Such positivity comes from the top, and we have
been impressed by the manager, his deputy and the senior nurses, as well as the attitude of many of the carers, which is positive and upbeat.
I would recommend Merlin Court to anyone considering the home. Mum has described it as "a happy place", and I find that very reassuring.

My mother was taken in for 2 and a half weeks of respite care after a hospital visit. The staff and all the facilities were first class and she really enjoyed her stay. She returned home in a really good physical and mental condition and enjoyed meeting all the residents and staff. I would thoroughly

Merlin Court Care Home provides a safe, secure, comfortable and homely environment for my Father. He enjoys interactions with the staff who are friendly, helpful and highly competent. He also enjoys the company of other residents and especially with men who are generally in short supply. His room is
very clean, bright, comfortable, private and quiet yet he can summon help very quickly. The overall atmosphere is relaxed and safe. My Father feels he belongs there, he also feels safe which is good for him and good for us. Whenever there has been a problem the home has called us very promptly and see to it that meds and care is provided rapidly.

Mum has thrived in Merlin Court Care Home for the past year and we cannot recommend the home, the staff and the level of care more highly. It was such a relief to find this hidden gem of a care setting. The home is modern, light, clean, fresh-smelling, warm and welcoming, with the sound of chatter,
activity, music and laughter throughout. The bistro, gardens, and full and varied menu and activity calendar are particular highlights. The manager and his management team are fantastic, always readily available to assist. Communication with relatives is excellent. Staff levels are maintained at high levels and turnover is low - they are a very friendly team. Care is prompt and proactive, kind and patient, cheerful and engaged, discreet and respectful. One staff member was so helpful on day one, moving Mum’s furniture in and putting up her pictures; all her clothes were promptly name-labelled and the laundry system is super quick. Five stars.

Merlin Court Care Home have cared for my uncle for the past six years until he sadly passed away quite recently. All aspects of his care have been excellent. All the staff are kind, respectful and caring. Always supportive and engaging with all the residents and family members. Palliative and end-of-life

It is a huge weight off my mind knowing that Mum is safe and well cared for 24/7.

My mother arrived at Merlin Court in an extremely anxious state having been unhappy in her previous care home.

Many many thanks to all the wonderful, amazing, caring people at Merlin Court Care Home who made such a positive difference to the last two years of our dad’s life. We visited 5 care homes in the same area and had no hesitation in selecting Merlin Court, primarily for the warmth and humanity of the
people who work there. It is obvious from the moment you arrive that all the staff, including the manager himself, put the care of the residents first. Even when Dad became incontinent and cantankerous he was looked after with care, dignity and respect. Thank you all so much.

The staff and management were so helpful and friendly when we had to find some emergency care for my father. They couldn't do enough. We felt Dad was safe and well looked after. He wasn't so keen on the food and I think some activities he might have enjoyed were not yet back after COVID restrictions.
The COVID limitations were a little difficult to follow at times, but as it was a short-term stay, that was easily overcome. Thank you to everyone for taking such good care of our dad.

Merlin Court looks after its residents beautifully on the whole. Once or twice I witnessed casual, hurried or overbearing attendance on my father: otherwise the care given to him by three staff, in particular, was first class. We were informed of accidents, falls or other mishaps so remained reassured
of his welfare and treatment when things went wrong. When coronavirus hit we couldn't visit for nearly a year, so received weekly emails about Dad’s daily life and morale, improving our own. Residents’ autonomy is paramount: a ‘wellbeing’ facility, offering the chance to follow one’s own interests, is particularly well run. My father, previously an aloof intellectual, enjoyed musical evenings and was offered literature to suit his style. As he declined he was visited regularly: poetry was read to him or classical music put on for him to hear. One of the three particularly regular staff members was with him when he died; another came to his funeral. These things gladdened our hearts immeasurably.

As you recognise, the home team have worked tirelessly throughout the Covid-19 pandemic to care for and support our residents and relatives in line with government and Public Health England guidance. I do appreciate that this has been difficult for everyone, as the opportunity for visits from and maintaining meaningful contact with loved ones has been challenging, especially during periods of isolation. Unfortunately, these have been necessary to prevent the spread of the virus within the home which as you know, has a particularly vulnerable group of people within it.
We hope that you are able to enjoy seeing the gardens take shape into summer once more and that you will continue to share your ideas for the home at the resident committee meetings - my door is always open!

Qualifications that I have gained include a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering which is my proudest achievement I am lucky to have a very good family and I enjoy my job by getting to know everyone.

I want to make sure that I give the residents a difference between being at home and being in a care home, especially when families are away as we are like one big family. I ensure that everyone is comfortable with us by spending time with them and getting to know them. I was a teacher before this and I wanted something different. Merlin Court is my first care job since moving to the UK.


Qualifications that I have gained are Teaching and Hairdressing, I also have a lot of other qualifications.
My proudest achievement would be that I like to see the residents smile in the morning especially when they say "we missed you".
