I cannot recommend this care home high enough. The manager and her team are so open, friendly yet professional and the communication is excellent. They went out of their way to make my mum's room personal and welcoming and notice the small details that make a place feel like home. My mother sadly was
very unwell when she arrived at The Old Parsonage but the team worked so hard to ensure she had the best care and were so thorough in ensuring she received the specialist help she required. I would definitely recommend The Old Parsonage.

Mum arrived at The Old Parsonage in June 2017. All the staff have taken time to get to know her, to get to know her likes and dislikes and to treat her with dignity. It has given us great comfort to know Mum is looked after so well.
We truly could not ask for more from the manager and her entire
team, they are wonderful. Mum is settled and cared for and we thank you.

Our mother went to the Old Parsonage Nursing home for the last few weeks of her life. The place was lively, bright very clean and did not smell like a nursing home.
The level of care and friendliness provided by all members of staff was outstanding. We were able to spend a lot of time with our mother
and observe first hand how well patients were treated. Thouroughly recommended.

The care home is extremely well managed - the management, nursing staff and carers are all very committed to delivering an excellent service. The home is cheery, has a very welcoming feel and is spotlessly clean. My mother's care is of the highest quality and I am very reassured to know that she is
in a good place that would be hard to better, based on previous bad experiences.

There are lots of organised activities and fundraising events which the residents enjoy. The food is home-cooked and the choices are numerous and varied, catering for each individual. The residents are treated with compassion and understanding. The staff are attentive and have very good rapports with the residents, making each one feel special. I am very grateful to The Old Personage.

Mother came here confused and down. After a couple of days, she was settled, happy, content and enjoying all the attention of the staff. Her sense of humour returned and she's no longer in turmoil. I'm a very happy person knowing my mum is in a lovely care home where she has blossomed and is in good
hands. The staff are first class and I can't praise them highly enough.

My father arrived at The Old Parsonage very upset and confused, the care he received, and is still getting, enabled him to calm down and be happy and content. The staff are all lovely, there is always someone around to talk to. Dad has said that the food is very good. The building is old, and therefore
not as 'posh' as a modern purpose built care home, but the care and the family atmosphere are far more important than the building, and these are very evident.

My Brother-in-Law came here due to being too unwell to care for at home. All the staff were lovely from the start, incredibly caring, kind and did their best to make him feel at home. He was a fussy eater but the staff were great and made a list of all the foods he enjoyed and made sure they were available.
The staff were amazing, especially the manager as she always made sure we knew what was going on with my Brother-in-Law and were quick to call any updates.
They engaged with him and as they knew he liked chatting with people always made sure he had someone to talk to. When he first moved to the home the staff sat down with us to make a list of all the things my Brother-in-Law liked in terms of food, activities, topics of conversation which all staff had access to and would follow when looking after him.
Prior to the Old Parsonage we sent him to another home where he had a terrible experience, the staff frightened him, they left him unclean and didn't cater to his needs, we only wish we'd put him in the Old Parsonage sooner.

My Mum spent nine very happy and secure years here. The home is clean, friendly and the manager is the most professional and dedicated person you could wish to meet. Her team are all very caring and are well trained and showed wonderful compassion and caring for my Mum. I would strongly recommend this
home to anyone wishing for care, compassion and respect for their elderly relative. When the end came the team on that day showed extreme respect and caring for both my Mum and mine and my sisters needs. We could not have asked for more. I very much miss visiting the Manager and her team of wonderful nurses. This home is a very good example of how elderly care should be. Thank you to the Manager and team.

My mother, who suffers from Alzheimer's, has been resident at the Old Parsonage since 2013. I have visited on a weekly basis. In that time I have witnessed the complete transformation in service quality owing to the huge efforts of new management and the staff. Mum had previously been withdrawn and
depressed and along with the onset of Dementia symptoms, had to be moved from her home. Finally Mum was placed there by Social Services Crisis Intervention Team. Since taking residency her mood has altered dramatically to the happy chatty mother I know and love. This is a fantastic care home. The empathy and consideration shown to the residents makes the place feels like one big family lives there. The staff go over and above their job requirements and are always approachable and friendly. All the staff have gone out of their way to facilitate visits at anytime of the day, even providing extra meals to allow me to visit for longer periods. The standard of food is excellent and varied and all dietary additions for Mum have been attentively applied. The home is very clean and the rooms are well presented. The Manager is very professional and I cannot fault in any of my dealings with the Manager as Son/D.O.L.S Rep/ Power of Attorney on behalf of Mum. It is comforting to know she is receiving the highest quality care toward the end of her days and will be treated with dignity and respect. I couldn't wish for my mum to be in a better place.

My mother has been resident in The Old Parsonage since 2010, I admire all the staff in the home as they treat very ill people with dignity and respect. All Carers, Nurses and Management have always been very considerate and kind to both my mother and myself. They are very attentive. Every care
is given to all the residents and their needs are always met. The home is a very pleasant, clean and comfortable place to be. There is a good variety of food and the residents are always respected with their individual needs. I would never hesitate to recommend this home as I believe it offers a first class service that fulfills all criteria for success.

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.197)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.197) out of 10 for The Old Parsonage Nursing & Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.913 for The Old Parsonage Nursing & Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (42 Excellents x 5) + (4 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 46 Ratings = 4.913

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.284 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Old Parsonage Nursing & Care Home is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 22 registered maximum number of service users is 4.4. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 4.4 = 0.909

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
