Rated Outstanding by the CQC (January 2021), Downs View care centre in Bradbury caters for elderly residents with varying stages of dementia.

The home enjoys stunning views over the Downs and has 51 individual bedrooms. 43 are en-suite.

There is also a suite for couples and guests for privacy. The home has two large lounges and a sun lounge for relaxation.

Downs View has recently had the benefit of a dementia-specific designed, large accessible sensory garden with safe, soft walkways and accessible flower beds with seating areas.

Fresh meals are prepared daily by the chef using local suppliers. Residents can choose their meal based on personal or dietary requirements.

The amazing staff obviously views the residents as family, not customers. The standard of care is phenomenal with the carers priding themselves in their work. Even visiting family and friends are treated with the utmost respect. The carers have my respect for the effort they put into making Downsview
a home away from home.

My mum has been in the care home for 8 weeks now after losing her husband and moving from North Wales. She is blind and struggles to walk unaided. They have been, so very supportive during this time helping her to settle in and adjust to a strange new world, which to her black.
All the staff are amazing,
very helpful and are good at giving me updates about her progress ie: eating, moving her around and socialising.
The personal touches are what make a difference from coffee with the manager to supporting her so she can attend church.

I found Downs View Care Centre to be very bright and clean, with very friendly staff, it is very well situated in the country with lovely views of the Downs. I visit my cousin once a week and she seems very happy.

My mum has been in the care home for 5 weeks. They have been very supportive during this time helping her to adjust.
All the staff are very helpful and are good at giving me information about her progress ie: eating, moving her around and services we can access for her - haircut, podiatry etc.

I have been extremely pleased with the care mum has received since moving into Downsview in April. She has improved physically and mentally. The staff are extremely caring and attentive. The food is amazing and any events including family are very well catered for. The activities organiser keeps them
well entertained and keeps them physically and mentally active.

Short term respite stay, great care. Dad's much stronger and hopefully independent enough to go home for a good period. Very clean, food great, staff amazing. All round good experience.

My father became a resident at Downs View this year due to dementia and concerns with him living at home. I can't express enough how amazing the home is, it's given Dad a new lease of life, so much stimulation with varied activities on a daily basis. The staff are extremely caring and treat the residents
with dignity and respect. We, collectively, as a family are extremely happy with the care given to dad, it has taken a big worry away from his wife and children. Dad was very anxious when he lived at home, but that has gone and he is so happy and content, encouraged to join in with all activities, which he loves, and is extremely relaxed, as he is being very well looked after. I can't praise the staff and management enough for all they have done to help Dad with the transition and continue to help him to this day. I highly recommend Downs View, we are so grateful to them for taking such good care of my beloved dad and giving him the best remainder of his life.

Dad has been a resident since November 2020 when his Parkinson's deteriorated after the local services were removed in lockdown.
During the three years he has lived there, he has been able to have quality time with family and make new friendships in the home.
The activities and care provided by the
home have brought all of the residents together, as well as their families.

Since Dad arrived in April, he’s the happiest I’ve seen him in years. The home is spacious, with plenty of light. All staff are so lovely and welcoming, whatever time of day you visit. Dad will even join in with some of the entertainment which is varied and engaging. All meals prepared are fresh and
tasty, and on my parent's wedding anniversary a table was set up for them with afternoon tea, a lovely surprise. Every visit we have with Dad has now enabled us to have quality time with him, either in his room, lounge or the lovely outdoor space.

My father is extremely happy, comfortable and safe at Downs View. All the staff are kind and caring, going to great lengths to look after him. His room is clean and spacious, with the added luxury of a wet room, which is invaluable to maintain his dignity. He always enjoys his meals, with a great selection

This was the first time my mum, who has dementia, had to use a home. It was to enable my wife and I to take a respite break and was booked by the local council. Naturally, I had concerns and I visited the home in advance to get a feel. The manager and deputy came to Mum at home to get a sense that Mum
would be a good fit.
This home has a number of dementia patients at differing stages and I know from experience how tricky this can be. But, I want to commend the manager and her team. At no point did I, or people visiting Mum, see anything but caring staff who do their best to look after the people they care for. The rooms are simple but clean and the food seems to be of a high standard. Different stages of dementia could make for chaos, but our experience was that Mum was looked after, even when emotional.
The home is set in Badbury and has great views with good car parking and has lovely gardens, with places to sit and enjoy being outside. Well done all and thank you.

When I arrive, I was greeted well by the staff and they showed me where my friend was. My first appearance at the home was very clean, welcoming and well-presented.
The staff are very friendly and I can see by their persona that they enjoyed working here.
I left as they were serving their dinner
which looked appetising and he has a choice to visually see.
This is one of the best care homes I’ve seen in and around Swindon, and I’m glad that my friend is here.

Dad was at Downs View Care Centre for about a year and a half until he sadly passed away in September 2022. The care he received, especially in the later months, was excellent. The staff were compassionate and caring, and the staff were always approachable and helpful. It was lovely to see the home
open up as Covid receded, with magicians and other activities put on to entertain the residents. The home always seemed clean when we visited, and it was lovely to see the redecoration taking place. Thank you to everyone for looking after Dad and for your kindness to all the family in those last difficult few days.

Every time we have visited, the staff have made us feel welcome. They take time to have a chat to make sure were ok as a family too coping with having a family member with dementia. All residents always appear clean and well-presented. The private rooms and communal areas are always clean and tidy.
The wide range of activities provided caters for a vast range of personal interests. The views of the Downs are right on the doorstep. Lovely to be able to take Pops out for family walks in such a scenic environment without the need for further travel. Massive thank you to all staff for keeping Pops and all the other residents safe and entertained. Would highly recommend this home to anyone who may need dementia care.

Downs View is a lovely home that creates a cosy, welcoming environment to all residents and service users. The staff are all very friendly and there is plenty of engaging and therapeutic activities regularly on offer. We really enjoyed the mobile farm at Christmas which brought smiles to many faces.
The food is lovely and the management team are hands-on - approachable and professional always.

My mum moved into the care home last June. This was the hardest thing I ever had to do! But the care mum has received is outstanding. Covid didn't help as we weren't allowed to see her. Now we can see mum, it's lovely to see her settled and getting around the clock care she needs. Thank you

Hello! My name is Amanda and I have worked for Coate Water Care since 2008. I have worked in care for a total of 24 years so far, achieving Level 5 management of health and social care.


The staff at Downsview always go above and beyond their roles to enhance the lives of the people we care for and I am very proud to call them my team.


I love interacting with my residents and their families and my passion is dementia Care. I have been responsible for working alongside and supporting other dementia care homes within the CWC group.
