Dad was admitted to St Giles to spend his final months of life. All staff that had contact with Dad were caring, compassionate and truly amazing people who clearly love the work they do. Communication from management could and should be better; at times, it did feel like the family were left out in
the cold.

We are delighted with the overall experience of our regular visit to my mother. The rooms are good in size.
We know my mother is very restricted in movement; however, perhaps she could be encouraged more to leave her room and enjoys the lounge, library and dining room.

Friendly and helpful staff - very caring.
Feeling that staff are stretched and are not able to give residents the 100% service that they would like to provide.
Communication with the home could be better. Difficult to get any kind of information. Not transparent.

As a long-term resident, my father received very good care at this home, and the staff didn't just care for him but for my elderly mother too, who visited over many years. I know that the staff really knew my father well and understood his needs. Senior care staff are highly skilled and knowledgable
about their resident's medical and emotional needs. I can only thank all staff, carers, cleaners and activity leaders for their love and kindness to my father.

My mother has been in St Giles since May. Unfortunately, she has dementia, and it's very hard leaving her. I am so grateful for the lovely care she receives from the nurse on the 2nd floor; she really does give me peace of mind knowing my mother is in good hands when she is on.

Our sister was 90 in July, and none of the family could visit, so the manager of St Giles did a fantastic surprise for her with a great cake, balloons and a lovely tea. We thought it was wonderful that they took all that trouble to make her day special. We, as a family, cannot praise the care that they

My aunt was sent to St Giles from the hospital in April 2020 having suffered a stroke at home in March 2020. Obviously, very strict Covid restrictions were in place at the time of her admittance. The staff did their best under the circumstances to engage with us and to give my aunt all the support she
needed. Now with the restrictions fully lifted, we are able to visit and communicate with my aunt, and the staff and my aunt is able to get involved in all the activities and events run in the home. My aunt has gone from strength to strength, and it has given her a new lease of life.

My mom was a resident of St Giles from June 2020 until March 2022 when we sadly lost her. We had an incredibly difficult journey at times because of Covid and the enforced restrictions on visiting. But during this journey, the whole team looked after Mom as if she was their own - stepping in for us
and giving her all the love and attention she so deserved when we couldn’t. Thanks to the well-being team who helped Mom keep in touch with all of her family, she never forgot who we were and always knew she was still a very big part of our lives, even though we couldn’t visit her.
Since the management change in December, this home has gone from strength to strength. She is always happy to speak to you about any issues you may have and acts promptly if needed. When Mom was approaching her final days, she treated Mom, and us, with such compassion and dignity, as did all the team, and we will never forget this. It made a very painful time slightly more bearable.

The staff cared for my grandmother, and she was happy in their care. She told me the staff were very kind to her. She was always well looked after, clean and tidy. My grandmother and our family were treated with dignity and respect in her final days. My grandmother had her 100th birthday during the
pandemic, the staff were amazing, testing us all and allowing us to see her outside to celebrate with her while keeping her and other residents safe. I must stress they did not allow us on the premises to keep all residents safe but still allowed us to celebrate her amazing milestone with a tea party.

We did not have a good experience and have moved Mum to another home. We found communication lacking and attention to issues like looking after clothing and making sure Mum was wearing her own clothes and that her clothing was clean we’re not adhered to. We weren’t able to personalise her room due to
Covid but sent pictures in which we’re not put up for her.

My referral to come from the hospital was for physiotherapy rehabilitation. With this objective doing focus, I came away feeling satisfied this was achieved. Also, the domestic care aspects were totally satisfactory.

My wife had some respite on the ground floor at St Giles. She had bad feet and could not walk and the nurses made them better I could not believe the difference. They always put her on the phone to me. Such a nice thing to know your wife is safe and getting better.
The staff are so kind she said. We
just could not visit that was the sad thing.

Mum became a resident at St Giles following a spell of respite. The staff were supportive and friendly. The wellbeing team provided a good range of activities, including crafts, bingo and special events such as VE Day. Staff kept me updated about mum’s health and any issues. Mum loved her own room,
which we were able to personalise. She had her TV/music, colouring, and her cuddles around her. Her room was kept clean and tidy, clothes and named (if you pay for the service). Always a good choice of food depending on the resident’s needs, including soft foods or build-up drinks if required. Before Covid a hairdresser and chiropodist would visit weekly and GP as and when required. Sadly Mum passed away on the 4th of April 21. I was grateful to the care staff that they were with her at the end, and she was not alone. They notified me straight away and kept me updated. Thank you to the manager and all the staff team for the continuing support and care of Mum whilst with them.

My mum came for some rehab, and I was so worried as she had lost weight in the hospital. She stayed on the ground floor, and the staff were so brilliant. Phones were busy, and it can be frustrating, but they did their best. Mum loved the food and put a bit of weight on.
Mum said the nurses were so
sweet and caring.
I really had to post a review to say how grateful we are.
Some of her laundries were lost, but who cares when our mom is home and smiling again!
