I myself being the POA for a friend made the decision for a friend to be admitted to St Giles from the Hospital. This being as her home was not suitable to go back to. The hospital had called and wanted her discharged.
Due to Covid, no visits were made to the hospital. Admission to the hospital the
10th of October. Admission to St Giles 11th of November. St Giles picked due to good reviews on the website and being near for visits. The only contact was through phone until the 20th of December. I did speak to my friend through speakerphone which depended on what member of staff answered on the care home phone. I had supplied a mobile phone but often it was not charged. I did not see my friend till 20th December and was devastated to see how she was as the last time I saw her was 10th October prior to admission to the hospital. The staff at St Giles said they only knew her as she was on admission.

What a lovely place.
My mom was admitted for respite and rehab post-surgery.
The physio team are so brilliant and gave her the confidence to progress.
The nurses and care staff are so lovely and always tried to do their best given the awful Covid crisis.
I only have admiration for how hard they
work.
My mom would love to revisit the home to say thanks to the amazing staff.

My husband was at St Giles for some rehab; we were so pleased getting the call that he was out of the hospital. He wanted me to say thanks to the staff for their hard work during such difficult times.
The food was lovely, he said.
No words to express how amazing St Giles staff are.

Do not send your loved ones here. My father-in-law moved here from the hospital for some TLC before eventually moving to a care home. The communication to us as a family has been non-existent, there is no care plan or rehabilitation plan for him and his zest and spark for life has been lost. I wish
I had read the reviews before sending him here. My Grandpa went into a community hospital for some rehabilitation with learning to walk again and the care and motivation he received was outstanding, which is why we have really tried to help my father-in-law learn to walk again after a four-week immobile stay in hospital. After three weeks, he has been helped to stand up for 15 seconds each day, and that is all.

My mom was sent to St Giles for some respite, and despite the staff being so busy, they treated my mom with the utmost respect and care.
The staff are amazing, and although Mom was very poorly, they tried everything to help her get better.
I can’t thank them enough for what they did for Mom.

My father was admitted to the home for respite care from the hospital. Although the team tried, he did not have the strength to walk again, but the staff were completely amazing and gave him the best care ever. At such a difficult time, during Covid, the staff still tried to care for my dad in isolation.
This home is amazing, and at times, we could not get through on the phone, we were always given the heads up how he was.

My Dad was taken to St Giles, Tile Cross from the hospital for respite. During his stay, my Dad was unable to find his teeth, glasses or hearing aids. We asked staff to look in his bag and were told they were lost and probably left at the hospital. So my Dad couldn't hear, see or eat properly. We
would call, it was a struggle to speak to him. He rarely had help with his phone. He had no TV or stimulation whatsoever. He was on his own in his room all day every day. He became severely depressed and his mental health has deteriorated significantly. He was sent back to the hospital two weeks ago and we were asked to collect his things from St Giles today. His clothes (many of which were missing - brand new Christmas Presents) were in a black bag, soaked in urine with mildew growing on them. His glasses, teeth and hearing aids still in his holdall where nobody had bothered to look. We are disgusted, angry and upset. My mom has cried and cried over the complete lack of care or empathy at St Giles.

My terminally ill Grandad was a resident at St Giles and has recently had to be moved to a different home. Unfortunately, due to covid, his family were not able to visit him whilst he was staying there. To try and keep in touch with him and keep his spirits up as much as possible, we took in his personal
mobile phone that he could use. Every time we spoke to him on it, he was very distressed, emotional and expressed how badly he was being treated whilst being there. This was very out of character for my Grandad as he has always been an upbeat, happy character so to hear him in such distress was very upsetting and worrying. Not long after we had dropped his phone to the home, we were told it was 'lost' and that nobody could find it so we were unable to speak to him any longer unless we contacted the home directly. We did this, to then be hung up on before getting to speak to him which I think is very unprofessional and rude. I would not recommend sending your loved ones to this home.

It is also recorded that regular contact between the home and your grandfathers family was registered to update on his well-being whilst living at St Giles. A visiting slot was also arranged for his relatives to visit him but unfortunately, he was moved to another care provider closer to his family before this could happen.

My Dad was in this care home, communication was rubbish. No phone calls to tell you how he was doing, always made excuses so we could not speak to him. Was never told that a care package would be put in place. He became depressed and very upset, so we decided to move him.

Nanny had been in a short stay bed. The home was nice gardens are amazing. Food is okay. Staff are really caring and kind. The manager is nice and the deputy is funny and loud, but they really care about everyone. Nanny is doing well. Since she returned home. Thank you.

My grandad was admitted walking, talking, and independent and in the end was being neglected and we had to get him out of there! The manager is disgusting and left him for hours on the commode etc. He was also fed food which he has an intolerance to.

My Uncle has been residing at St. Giles for one year now and we have seen him flourish under the care of the wonderful staff and management at St. Giles. There is a lovely atmosphere when you enter the home and we don't have to worry about him as we know he is looked after 24/7, having freshly laundered
clothes daily and a shower, plus a cooked breakfast and all his meals and drinks provided. We have found all the staff very friendly and caring. However, pushed for time they always have a friendly word for all the residents as they pass their rooms. The wellbeing team put on various activities throughout the week and take the residents out into the garden, weather permitting.
We are very satisfied with the care he is receiving.

This review relates to my 88-year-old uncle who has now been resident at St Giles for 12 months. He was living alone and was unable to care for himself. Having looked around the area for a suitable home, we found right from the start the management and staff were approachable and helpful, and the home
itself appeared to have a happy atmosphere. I feel we could not have made a better choice. Right from day one he was well looked after and cared for by all of the staff and management team. Understandably it took him a while to settle in, but now he is like one of the family, contented, well-fed, happy and so well looked after. He takes part in the activities that are organised on a daily basis (there is always something going on). With the Covid-19 situation that is ongoing, the home were quick to identify the seriousness of the situation and straightaway went into lockdown in order to safely protect the residents. I cannot thank the staff enough for the care they give him.

During COVID-19, the staff organised a VE Day celebration for the residents. Everything was set up giving residents, their families and staff the safe distancing zones. Residents came out in their red, whites and blues and the smiles on their faces when they could blow kisses to loved ones will give
them happy memories to cherish a lifetime.
My mom and myself have struggled with the transition from our home but I cannot fault them. She is well-loved and cared for and we are both content with her living at St Giles.

My grandad lives at St Giles and has been there for about 3 months, I can’t say enough about the team there. My grandad is the happiest he has been for a while, the residents are well looked after, the staff always willing to help, he is spoilt with attention. The managers always come to say hello and
speak to him, I wasn’t sure about a care home at first because of horror stories in the news but was the best decision we could have made, keep up the good work St Giles.
