Heartlands Nursing and Care Home, in the Yardley area of Birmingham, is a well-respected nursing and care home specialising in care for people with all forms of dementia, Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease. The nursing and care team have years of experience in delivering high standards of care and support. Heartlands has good wheelchair access, enclosed outdoor spaces and good relationships with local GPs and other health professionals.

Heartlands Care Home is spread over three floors and registered to provide personalised, family-led care in a luxury yet homely environment, but at an affordable cost to the local community of Birmingham. The home boasts 66 en-suite bedrooms, a family room, relaxation spa, private dining room, café/bistro, cinema room and a garden room.

Residents enjoy a wide range of activities and events, led by the well-being and activities team who get to know each resident individually and support them to continue to enjoy their hobbies and interests.

Dad has been resident at Heartlands Care Home for 3 months now. It appears to be a cheerful, caring place. Particularly impressed with a professional attitude to medication and organisation of activities. Friendly and helpful staff.

Job Title: Activities and Well-being Coordinator

I am Activities & Well-being Coordinator at Heartlands so together with my colleague we complete two group activities per day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. In between these times I spend time with residents one on one, we have quite a few residents that are unable to take part in group activities so I like to ensure they are not isolated and feel part of our family. I plan future events and activities and I work closely with our CRM to go through ideas. Because I have a background in care I also assist with self-care and mealtimes.
I love my job because I feel that I can contribute towards improving the quality of life for our residents, making them smile is so rewarding. Tracy lives locally, has 3 children and loves her job. The best part of the job is the ‘butterfly moments’, precious moments with residents. I like getting residents together and seeing how socialising can change the mood for residents making them feel more positive and upbeat.
I am also a Dignity Champion for Heartlands Care Home and a Dementia Friend.
I am working towards my Diploma in Care which I will complete in July 2019.
