My nan seems a lot happier and also the rooms are very clean and more bright. The garden area is lovely and the staff are happy to answer any questions that we may have.

My mother came here in December 2016 after her 2nd stroke. From the first point of contact with the staff at Ivybank Care Home, we were impressed with the information given, the cleanliness of the home and the care and support given to both Mom and our family. Mom feels well looked after and cared for.

My brother was very well looked after and the family had lots of support, from the home. We were also treated at Christmas, as well as all the residents. Activities are fantastic and enjoyable even for us. We felt it was a home we can fully recommend.

Lovely, friendly, nice people. Clean and well-kept conditions. Efficient tools (tables, lifting, driving). Tea and biscuits given out regularly and the staff ask if we want a drink. Pleasant décor, easy on the eye, warm rooms. Plenty of space to sit, family room for more company.

My dad has been well cared for during his stay and the admin staff helped us to reduce the costs. The some is very clean and the nursing staff are very helpful when we needed answers and respecting my dad's wishes.

My mom has been a resident at Ivybank for nearly a year. She is aged 85 wheelchair bound and has dementia. Ivybank is clean and tidy. Staff are polite and hardworking, but it seems understaffed. Can be hard to get hold of one of the staff as they always seem too busy. I find it's hard work to find out
how my mother has been between my visits. Would be nice if you were given updates on the resident that you are visiting, health and behaviour, without you having to keep asking. I also do not see much one-on-one interaction between staff and residents. On the whole, I feel that my mother is safe there. Meals are sizeable and look nourishing. The care home is also quick to get in a doctor or ambulance if they feel that a resident is unwell. The tv lounge is comfortable. There is also a nice family room with tea making facilities. This could do with having a sink and a small fridge in to keep milk fresh. There is a garden which is reasonably nice but would benefit from having more flowering plants.

The lounge has just been upgraded to a very high standard. It is now much brighter and appears more spacious. The staff are all very caring and also provide support to family members visiting. The management value their staff and speak highly of them. I believe all members have a genuine regard for
the welfare of the residents.

My mother has been in this care home for 10 months and we as a family find it okay. My mother isn't too happy here but does suffer with depression and refuses to have counselling or a change in medication to help her. There are activities going on which she isn't interested in. I must say how marvellous
the manager has been with having patience of a saint, trying to help her in any way he possibly can. The staff are very good but always seem to be very busy. I think an extra pair of hands would be a great help to them.

My mother has been in this care home for nine months now. She had a stroke so was needing nursing care. She hasn't really settled here, but I doubt that she would anywhere else. We chose this place as it is just around the corner from where I live so mum can be pushed around to my home in her wheelchair.
We as a family wouldn't rate it anymore than satisfactory but at the same time we wouldn't rate it any less.

Ivy Bank in my opinion staff and management are very good and friendly. The lady/aunties clothes were scruffy and dirty? and she felt poorly. It was nice to see today you had new chairs in the lounge and the lobby had been freshly painted. The lounge requires a make over painting/walls replacing carpets
as it's dirty. This could be a lovely and home if you spent some money if refurbished.

The staff are friendly and welcoming although sometimes taking a while to answer the door. The rooms are decorated to reflect the residents personality's and needs but security in the corridors could be problematic for those who are mobile with dementia - some doorways, stairs and the front door are
potential risks. I have always found the staff caring towards my friend who I visit but my understanding is that, in a nursing home, each resident should have a 'named nurse' as a care link. The grounds are under-developed. Flowers and basic seating are missing and there are dead hanging baskets and paint peeling off chairs/ benches. This is a shame as it spoils the ambience of the home and it's profile to visitors.

Since having to find a more suitable accommodation for Mom in early 2014, due to her deteriorating health, the staff at Ivybank Nursing Home have been nothing less than superb.

From the initial contact, through the decision process and more recently with the ongoing care, I have found everyone at

Ivybank to be kind, caring, considerate and professional.

I cannot fault the level of care, their personal, yet professional approach, along with the kindness and dignity they afford to all of the residents.

Current Review Score: 7.9 (7.872)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 7.9 (7.872) out of 10 for Ivybank Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 1 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.1 out of 5 from 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.750 for Ivybank Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (9 Excellents x 5) + (3 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 12 Ratings = 4.75

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.122 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ivybank Care Home is based on 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 = 3

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 41 registered maximum number of service users is 8.2. 1 Positive Reviews ÷ 8.2 = 0.122

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
