My mum's time at St Martin's has just come to an end. I commend everyone there for the quality of the care she received. Consistently excellent. I can recommend this home to anyone, without reservation.
Thank you, staff team, for looking after my mum so well.

My mother moved to St Martin's about three years ago, with cuts on her arms and legs following a series of falls. The nursing care was excellent, and she soon looked better. She is able to go into the lounge each day, with assistance from the staff who encourage her to keep moving using her rollator.
She is now their oldest resident! Meantime, my husband has been bed-bound for almost six years. Initially, he was in a different nursing home, but I was so impressed with St Martin's that I asked if he could move there and sometime later they offered him a place. He cannot move from his room, but the staff frequently drop in with cheerful words. The food they bring him is carefully selected to include lots of finger food that he can manage to eat by himself.
St Martin's offers a variety of enjoyable activities and entertainments (such as music and singalongs), but it is the kindness and friendliness of the super-efficient staff that make it such an outstanding care home.

This nursing home is outstanding. I have visited several in the area, and this is by far the best The staff are caring and friendly, and all the residents are treated with great respect. The whole home is tastefully decorated and kept spotlessly clean and smells lovely. The food is delicious, and the
residents have several delicious snacks between meals.

Mom moved to St Martin's Nursing Home in June 2022 following years of illness involving hospital admissions. She loved the home immediately and settled in straight away. We had been concerned about Mom and her care for the previous two years so to find St Martins gave relief to us and lifted us to see
Mom so happy. The staff are amazing, they understood Mom's personality very early on. This individual approach is something I noticed with all residents, one size does not fit all. Mom loved the activities, the outings, the hairdresser, all of this made her settle quickly. Sadly Mom passed away recently but our pain was eased by the home working with the hospital to bring Mom home for her last few days. Mom knew she was back and was so happy.
I looked at a few homes when we were considering Mom's care but knew St Martins was a place where she would be happy. We can't thank them enough.

My mother was at St Martin's for over two years, having suffered a stroke aged 94; she subsequently died there in November 2022. Choosing a home for your parent is an almost impossible thing to do, but in Covid times, it was especially hard. I know that we made the right decision in trusting St Martin's.
The care the staff gave to Mum and to the family was incalculable. Activities engage many of the residents as they are encouraged to be part of this community.
This is a quality home because it is a home, not a hotel. Relationships with the staff and the residents are kind, encouraging and always reassuring.
They gave additional support on the night of Mum's death and the days afterwards; St Martin's staff provided help with sensitivity to the family.
Throughout her time at St Martin's, the nursing staff provided further reassurance with expertise and professionalism. All of the staff at St Martin's put dignity and comfort as a priority.

It was my mother's decision to move to a care home. St Martin's allowed us to visit and discuss the community/rooms and care. Mother was very happy in the nursing home, making friends with fellow residents and staff. The staff were very good at keeping us abreast of mother's health and needs. As she
began to fail, the care was exceptional - her comfort and dignity were paramount.

St Martin's gave me complete peace of mind with their compassionate care they gave unconditionally to my beloved mum. The home offers a "home from home" feel, and all needs were met excellently. St Martin's is an exemplary home, and I would recommend without hesitation. Thank you isn't enough to say
to all the staff.

My wife, who has Parkinson’s and dementia has been a resident for over five months. The family spent a long time looking at various nursing homes as we were very worried about the effect the move would have on her. We all agree that our decision has proved to be the correct one. My wife has settled
so well into her new home and quite honestly her new family look after her so well. She is happy, safe and receives the best possible care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

My mom lived at St Martin's for more than five years. It became a big part of my life too. I have never worried about her if I have been unable to visit especially during the recent lockdown.
Mom arrived with a host of needs and the staff set about creating a routine and environment to meet every
single one. But more than that I felt she was cared for - the wonderful staff there really tried to make things better for her, to make her comfortable and to be engaged. The patience shown to my mom was boundless, even at her most difficult times. As time went on, Mom's needs changed. At St Martin's, they notice and adapt the care they give - sometimes just subtle changes that a family member may not even think about but can make all the difference to the residents.
I will never be able to praise the staff at St Martin's highly enough for the love and care they showed my mom, right up to her last moment. Everyone I know is aware of how fantastic I think they are.

The short time Mum spent at St Martin's was very good. Although due to covid-19 visiting was limited, I know Mum was being cared for. The staff are on "the ball" and can answer queries. Nursing staff are so hands-on and professional. Cannot comment on the food as didn't see any being served, but would
imagine it to be good. Room was comfy and clean. Mum was treated with dignity on her last few days, and the staff treated us with compassion. Highly recommend.

We couldn't have chosen a better nursing home for our mother. Mom was a resident for nearly 2 years and the care she received right up to her death was second to none. The staff were so friendly, kind, helpful and caring. Nothing was ever too much trouble and they always made us very welcome. It really
felt like a "home" and I think that was mainly down to the staff and the fact there was only 24 individual rooms. I cannot thank them enough and would have no hesitation in recommending this wonderful place. Thank you so much.

My mom was a resident at St Martin’s for just over 3 years. As a family we could not have asked for anything more or better than the care that St Martin’s gave to Mom. Mom was always treated with the utmost respect and dignity.
St Martin’s is spotlessly clean, incredibly safe and secure, all the staff
are empathetic and friendly and the management fully approachable and Mom always enjoyed her meals too! The staff are always happy to chat and let you know how Mom has been, which is always reassuring. St Martin’s has a lovely family and community feel.
Mom received both high quality and consistent care at St Martin’s and knowing this was a great comfort to us as a family.
St Martin’s has a great activities schedule, regular visiting singers and also trips out to the local café and an occasion pub lunch! These varied activities are so important to the resident’s well-being and Mom thoroughly enjoyed these when her health allowed.
We, as a family, would be happy to recommend St Martin's.

Current Review Score: 8.8 (8.818)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.8 (8.818) out of 10 for St Martin's Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 3 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.9 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.943 for St Martin's Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (33 Excellents x 5) + (2 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 35 Ratings = 4.943

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.875 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for St Martin's Nursing Home is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.25

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 24 registered maximum number of service users is 4.8. 3 Positive Reviews ÷ 4.8 = 0.625

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
