I find Brockhampton Court to be a very friendly nursing/care home. The staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. My son is terminally ill and needs a lot of care and attention, which is done very well. Every member of staff is very courteous and always makes me feel very welcome
and do all they can to keep me informed about my son's well-being.

Without exception, the staff members at Brockhampton treated my parents as individuals, catering thoughtfully for all their health and wellbeing needs, providing opportunities for engagement in activities of interest to each of them. They enabled my 90-year-old parents to stay together at a time when
my father required continuing health care and my mother was in need of some respite. Family members, including grandchildren and great children, were always welcomed whenever they could visit. Staff were always prepared to listen and help in any way they could.

My late mother was a resident of Brockhampton for over 6 years until her death in her 93rd year, during which time she received the very best of care despite being wheelchair bound. The staff are not only well trained and efficient but fun, warm and caring to residents and supportive to relatives. The
building and grounds are quite superb and the rooms are large and beautifully decorated. There are lots of activities to keep residents engaged and entertained and relatives are also encouraged to join in if they can. I have experience of a number of nursing homes and feel confident in saying this independently run home is one the very best.

The staff are very good in every way, they go the extra mile to create a warm, friendly, family atmosphere for all the residents. The matron runs a tight ship and is extremely professional in every way, a very rare commodity in this day and age. There are always activities and entertainment laid on
promoting a secure, safe and happy environment.

Thank you for taking the time to review Brockhampton Court and for saying such lovely things about our fantastic staff and the caring and happy ambience. I notice you mention our review as excellent across the board, with food being the only exception and being rated as 'Good'. In response to recent reviews of our food we have hired a completely new kitchen team in November, now being run by new staff members. One of whom is a very well regarded restaurant chef, and we are delighted to have a team of such calibre join our team. Our clear goal is to have superb food, well above that seen in other care homes and worthy of our Brockhampton's other fantastic attributes. We will continue to strive for excellence across the board at Brockhampton.

Sometimes my mother thought that the response time was slow. On one occasion, one of the staff said they were 2 staff short on that floor - but that is to be expected.
A lovely welcome and atmosphere when you walk in.
All staff had any amount of time to communicate. Would I recommend? Yes!

Reply from Andrew Allen, Director at Brockhampton Court Care Home

Dear Heather, thank you for your lovely review. Achieving the highest standards in care is paramount to our friendly team at Brockhampton. Although we are not aware of any particular incident involving a slower response time to your mother, we do always have on duty an appropriate number of nurses and carers in the building to ensure our high standards of care are maintained. As you say in your recommendation sometimes emergencies do happen where a resident requires more staff to come to their aid, however our staff are very well trained to deal with emergencies and to quickly return to their non-emergency care.

Thank you once again for your recommendation.

We think Brockhampton Court is great. It is set in magnificent grounds, the house is impressive, the rooms that we have seen are well furnished and comfortable - some seem to be huge. The staff have, without exception, been extremely friendly, cheerful and caring. They also seem very happy - there is
a good atmosphere.
The home seems to be extremely well run. Matron has been there for years and she and her team seem very efficient. The owner of the home is also often present keeping an eye on things. My father is very happy at Brockhampton and feels very lucky to be there. We as a family also feel that he is lucky to be there and we are very grateful he is so happy there.

My father was at 'Brockhampton Court Care Home' for nine months. I was welcomed by management and staff from the first day I arrived to the last day I left. The staff were friendly and all residents were well cared for. It just seemed like they were all part of one big family. There were many activities
residents could take part in throughout the year and there was a lovely atmosphere. You could not wish for a better place of care for any relative or friend and I would highly recommend this home.

My mother has been resident for 21 months following a major stroke. She requires full nursing care. The staff have shown my mother an extremely high level of care and interact with her on a personal level. Cleanliness is excellent. Food is very good.

My father spent nearly 12 months in the care home, before he passed away, I can honestly say he was cared for in physical and emotional care and I think had enjoyed his last twelve months, very happy and contented. He never grumbled about anything but us three daughters were there to ensure he had the
care he deserved after a life which was a struggle sometimes but it was a happy one for us three. We look upon his time in care as happy and his compassion and being treated with respect and dignity at his final hours were excellent. I would not hesitate to recommend this nursing care home to anyone. Also a lovely area and views from his bedroom were amazing.

Brockhampton Court is as close to being at home as anywhere could be. Resident care is top quality. Caring, professional staff with always time for a chat, a laugh, a cuddle. The staff are always supportive of residents family and on hand to answer any questions. Food and drink are delicious and visitors
can also eat there at a small charge. Tea, coffee and biscuits are always provided. The rooms are comfortable, clean with pretty furnishing and can be personalised with photos etc from home. Plus pets are allowed in. Great place.

My father was resident for the last 9 months of his life. The care he received was excellent! He was treated with respect, care and treated like one of a family. His needs were put first. One outstanding example- when he was transferred from another home- on the day he arrived his socks were removed
and his toes were dotted with plasters/old dressing- none of which we knew about and neither were Brockhampton Court aware he was a diabetic so the care of his feet were paramount. After their expert care his toes and feet were (when he passed away) without a blemish- due only to their diligent care. During his final days/hours his family were kept informed and were enabled to stay to be close at the time, nothing too much trouble.

My mother suffered a stroke in 2013 and my father couldn't cope with my mother after that so it was decided with mum's consent to go to Brockhampton. She was made so welcome that the settling in period passed very smoothly. The nursing staff were so caring, always going that extra mile in such a compassionate,
respectful manner. My mother was happy there, enjoying all the clubs and activities that were organised ans she fully took part.

My wife has been in Brockhampton Court for 12 months before she died in March 2015 aged 94. Although naturally she resented not staying in our own home in Hereford where she had lived happily for the last 60 years, she had nothing but praise for Brockhampton Court and always seemed very happy there.
Although naturally she would have preferred staying in her own home. That however was not practical. One big advantage of living at Brockhampton Court was the companionship she enjoyed though with other residents but also the very pleasant and friendly staff. As an alternative to being in ones own home, Brockhampton Court in the beautiful surroundings could not be bettered.

My brother has been in care at Brockhampton Court for approx 15 years. During this time he has always been treated with the utmost respect care and attention. I live in Scotland and can't visit as often as I would wish. It is therefore great comfort to know he is so well cared for by all the staff at
Brockhampton. They are always so helpful in the occasions I phone and ask about my brother. I could not wish for him to be in a better place for his care.

Current Review Score: 7.5 (7.505)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 7.5 (7.505) out of 10 for Brockhampton Court Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.2 out of 5 from 3 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.3 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.167 for Brockhampton Court Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (18 Excellents x 5) + (12 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) + (4 Poors x 2) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 36 Ratings = 4.167

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.338 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Brockhampton Court Care Home is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 = 3.125

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 47 registered maximum number of service users is 9.4. 2 Positive Reviews ÷ 9.4 = 0.213

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
