The home is proud of its local reputation and the clinical expertise it provides.

Physiotherapy is offered to all residents which improves quality of life.

The home offers so many opportunities to engage in hobbies and interests and has excellent links with the local community. Highwell House has its own minibus with wheelchair access.

I like living here. The staff are very friendly. Plenty to do. Scrabble, music, boat trip, shopping, hydro pool, visits to Slimbridge, jigsaws and crafts.

The home has a welcoming environment. The staff are pleasant and show great tolerance with all residents. Visits at any time are allowed, residents always clean, tidy and dressed for the time of day. Regular showers (or bath if preferable) are given, hairdressing and chiropody if requested. Senior staff
are available to give advice and answer visitors questions. Their well balanced and nutritional meals are prepared each day. Entertainment is provided by various artists and armchair exercises regularly feature, some outside visits arranged (weather permitting). Hydration and balance are encouraged at all times.

Highwell House care home is perfect for my mum as she has physical difficulties but is cognitively very switched on and thoroughly enjoys the many activities and entertainment provided here. She is always in the day room and very involved and stimulated. The staff are friendly and very caring.

Thanks to the manager and the staff at Highwell House for the exceptional care given to my father during his sadly short stay with you. From the moment he arrived he was treated with a dignity and respect. Whilst he was a very poorly man when he arrived, every effort was made to encourage him towards
a degree of recovery and helped to make his final days as comfortable as possible. We, the family, did everything we could to enable him to be cared for at home during his latter months but, in hindsight, he would almost certainly have benefited from coming to you sooner so that your professional skills could have taken much of the strain we experienced whilst not at all being detrimental to his well being. On a practical level - his room was very comfortable; the menus were excellent; his personal needs in terms of clothing, hygiene and medications were ably looked after; and the cheery, helpful attitude of the staff towards visitors did you credit. Thanks again from the whole family.

My wife and I are regular visitors to Highwell House to see an elderly resident.
We are impressed with the staff and management who clearly have the residents' best interests at heart and go out of their way to be helpful, considerate and caring.
They also make visitors most welcome offering food
and refreshments - and the 'help yourself' tea and coffee facility is a great idea.
Residents benefit from a range of activities organised for them.
Most importantly, the residents' varying needs are flexibly met with a high standard of care and support in a compassionate environment.

My aunty's room is very nice. It's warm and spacious. The staff are friendly and helpful.
The food looks very nice. My aunty would prefer to live at home but cannot look after herself and need all the support she received in the home.
I don't think she could be looked after any better anywhere else.

After 55 years in the same house, the sudden need to move into residential care must have been very disturbing to my father especially having lived alone for the last 30 years and the change was occurring at a time of great confusion for him. I was very impressed with the kindness of the staff at Highwell
House and their caring, supportive approach as they treated my father with the utmost dignity from the outset. Dad has very quickly settled in, with already a noticeable improvement in his well-being with people who really care.

The whole of Highwell, from room to car parks to welcome entrance from all members of staff, cleanliness of the whole building inside and out. It was a joy to visit my husband while he was in Highwell and to know he was well and truly taken care of. I couldn't thank them enough.

My father was at Highwell's as part of an NHS rehab programme following hospital treatment for a fractured femur followed by a stroke.
He was integrated well into the 'Home' environment. Staff were very kind and accommodating.
External support was readily facilitated to aid his rehabilitation.
Family
members/visitors were treated courteously.
The manager always had time to explain the programme and my fathers condition.

My relative (94) has now been a resident at Highwell House for nearly 2 years following 2 strokes which left him in need of 24-hour nursing care.
He is able to communicate his wishes but not able to hold long conversations.
During this time, his care has been excellent and all staff members are caring
and considerate towards him. The nurse/manager in charge of the home sets high standards to which all staff comply. She is available and willing to discuss any concerns that a relative may have about the resident. There is a friendly atmosphere in the home. There has always been good, clear, communication between staff and myself both face to face and on the phone.
