Newstead House is a home split into three households with both residential and nursing care. Staff focus on providing a warm welcoming environment, along with a high degree of professionalism as evidenced by their Gold Standard Award in palliative care, and one of their nurses being awarded in 2023 the palliative nurse of the year in the Great British Care Awards.

Nursing and care teams, led by an experienced home manager, work together to ensure residents lead a better quality of life by receiving high levels of care, stimulation and social interaction which improves their health and overall wellbeing.

The home has a number of lounges and dining areas and a coffee lounge, where residents enjoy time with friends and family, along with a secluded garden, which won an award in 2018 with Herefordshire in Bloom. It has close links with the local community and being so close to the centre of Hereford means residents can enjoy regular trips to the shops and other attractions.

Whatever type of care residents require, it will be bespoke to personal requirements. Residents and their families regularly praise Newstead for the caring and warm atmosphere in the home, and Newstead encourages you to come and try it for yourself.

My mum passed away recently after only being in Newstead for 3 months, but the staff made those 3 months the most happiest we could have wished for. From going above and beyond their daily duties nothing was ever too much trouble, to spending time after their shift had finished to sit and chat with
mum, to preparing a special meal to encourage her to eat. These are genuine caring people who brightened my mums days who gave me the reassurance of not having to visit everyday because I knew my mum was safe and happy. Thank you so very much for everything, going to miss you all.

My Mother needed to go into respite for two weeks in June 2015 as the family were going on holiday and she could not be left on her own. Newstead House was recommended by Social Services, on viewing we were pleased at the look and the way the Home was run and thought that it would suit my Mother.
After
her two weeks in respite Mum enjoyed her stay and the weekly bingo. So the activities coordinator said I could take Mum in whenever she wanted to go. So she continued to go to the bingo every two weeks.
My Mother spent some time in hospital in August following a fall at home. After much thought we realised that she needed full time care. Mum said that if she couldn’t go back home she would only want to go to Newstead House where she went permanently in September. She enjoys the company and gets on well with the members of staff.

I have been extremely impressed with Newstead in Hereford. All the staff, without exception are kind and considerate and very efficient in all aspects of their duties. They are more than carers, they are part of the family and although always busy can find time to bring a bit of humour and laughter
into the lives of not only my Mother-in-Law but to all that come in contact with them. I can't praise them highly enough and only hope that if I require the services of a care home, I end up in the same environment as my dear M-in-L.

Following a respite period elsewhere, mum became a resident of Newstead House in March/April time 2013 and what a transformation! She's very happy, enjoys the food and always has a funny story to tell us about as she puts it, " her carers".
I find the staff very friendly and given Newstead is an open
house it goes without saying you have nothing to hide! It's important that elderly folk bring memories from home and Newstead ensures this in abundance (it feels like I'm walking into mum's lounge). In addition, the decor is pleasing on the eye for visitors and the cleanliness cannot be questioned. Finally, I'm aware of how hard the staff work, sometimes in difficult circumstances -well done and keep it up!!

My mother has been in care at Newstead for nearly two years and in that time she has been treated with kindness, care and affection. All the staff have been extremely efficient in their duties and have been like an extension of my family. The joy and happiness they bring to my mother through their daily
contact is amazing, it's over and above what we thought possible in a care home environment.

My brother had good care, lovely accommodation and plenty of activities to keep him happy.
Management and staff always had time to support and talk to the family when needed.
Newstead was like family and we will miss
them now our brother has passed away.
