My husband, who was extremely ill with bowel cancer received the best care possible at St John's Court. All the staff were kind, caring and did everything they could to make him comfortable in his last days. They gave us all the help and support we needed. In short, they were all brilliant. Would recommend
it to anyone.

Following repeated problems at my mother's former nursing home and because of a high recommendation for St John's, I moved my mother after 14/15 years and have never looked back. I was immediately impressed with the manager and deputy manager and, in fact, all members of staff who I met on my first
short visit; I moved my mother immediately thereafter.
My mother has many complex needs and remains in bed (save for Christmas Day and a couple of other days) but she appears to be very comfortable and looks very content.
My mother suffers from Guillain-Barre syndrome, a little know condition, and I appreciate the regularity of permanent staff who look after my mother rather than the frequent use of agency staff.
The fees are less than those of the other home, but the standard of care, safety etc is far higher than that experienced earlier, and thus St John's is greater value for money.
Importantly communication throughout the last few months, whilst we have been subject to coronavirus has been exemplary, and I have been and will continue to be very quick to recommend St John's.

Mum has been in care since the beginning of August, first for respite and now in permanent care. It is difficult to review St John's Court as Covid-19 has meant visiting has been limited. Given updates when speaking to staff but it's not the same as visiting.
Hopefully in the near future, visiting
will resume, which will allow a more informed review to take place.
It's difficult to review as I have not seen inside the care home.

I am very pleased with the amount/level of care that my husband is receiving. He gets encouragement to eat meals/drink fluids and has been taken to an activities class in a subject which is particularly dear to him.
Overall, I am very pleased that he is here as he can no longer have his needs met
by me at home.

I am very pleased with the care given to my mum in St Johns Court. She recently moved in and I know it was not easy for her and the staff initially, but they worked very hard to welcome her and she is now settled and happy there. The staff kept me well informed and up to date the whole time. The staff
are all very friendly and caring and are doing a wonderful job despite the lockdowns. They all go out of their way to get to know the residents as individuals. The only difficulty has been getting through on the phone to speak to residents. The reception signal is very crackling in the bedroom and the mobile line very often engaged in use.

It was a very daunting prospect for us to source a nursing home for my dad that would be good enough for him. St John's was the fifth home we visited and had been recommended to us. As soon as we came to look around my mum and I knew this was the place that we could confidently leave him with peace
of mind. It really feels like home. St. John’s is far better than any other home we’ve seen. It is very rare to find a place where residents are treated with the respect they deserve and are able to keep their dignity. The staff are without exception very gentle, patient and caring with residents and their families. It’s like a big family, they are there for the family as well as the resident. It definitely deserves its outstanding rating. All frail elderly people should be cared for in this way. My father is thriving at St John's when the NHS could do no more.

After visiting nursing homes in the area for my husband who has Dementia, everything just seemed right from the very beginning. The staff who passed, the atmosphere was good. A place that could look after my husband when I could no longer cope. I have not been disappointed, he was only in 3-weeks when
the lockdown happened because of Corona Virus, they have kept us informed with all that is going on, I found in the 3-weeks I could visit, the care and compassion and he was treaded with dignity.
I was always listened to and worry when you leave your loved one with someone else to care. I did not make a mistake, I look forward to one day I will be able to visit the home again.

All staff (management, nurses, care staff, cleaners, kitchen and laundry staff, handyman, receptionist) are very friendly and welcoming. The staff are thoughtful, kind and compassionate. All staff are approachable and management are open to feedback. Being able to access and read the care notes when
we can't visit in person is reassuring and comforting. I like the fact that St John's is a not-for-profit charitable organisation. St John's is very well positioned and not large and impersonal. It is in a central location near the high street, supermarkets, cafes and local park so it's convenient to pop out with my relative.

When looking for a care home for my mother my brother, I visited quite a few in the area. One I remember was very clean with good facilities but the residents seemed to be left alone while the staff chatted in a different area. There seemed very little going on. The same day we walked into St John's
Court and in the large conservatory at the back, there was a large number of residents all taking part in one of the numerous activities they seem to have. A notable thing was that they were all talking, laughing and happy. As my brother and I left we both agreed that it was by far the best home we'd looked at.
That was in 2015 and things are still the same now. The staff are very caring and best and most important of all my mother is happy there. I would, and have recommended it to people. My brothers and I have peace of mind knowing Mum is being well cared for. Thank you.

My husband moved to St John's Court after his previous home declared that because of skin viability problems he was best “nursed in bed”. St John's staff carefully planned a care regime that enabled him to be out of bed for gradually increasing periods of time. He now spends much of each day in his
chair and I take him out on trips several times a week, which is a great joy for us both.


From the beginning, I felt I was listened to, and my suggestions and requests acted upon. I found the management team to be very responsive, willing to listen and try new solutions. Staff are really caring and supportive and go out of their way to provide residents with the best quality of life possible. They create a very warm friendly atmosphere whilst at the same time treating residents, relatives and visitors with respect and dignity. The activities team work hard to provide residents with a variety of interesting things to do, the meals are tasty and the home is comfortable.

My Grandmother spent the last few months of her life at St John's Court and I cannot speak highly enough of the care and compassion that Nan received whilst there.
As a family, we were impressed at the time the staff took to talk to you and really get to know Nan and they all treated her with kindness
and dignity throughout her stay. It felt as if friends were taking care of her, helping us all through a difficult time as a family.
I know Nan particularly appreciated what others might have seen as unimportant: having her hair and nails done and helping to make sure her clothes were always immaculate and her favourite earrings in place.
St John's provide excellent care and support both for their Residents and their families.

My father had to move into St John's last May because he has dementia and heart disease. We have found the staff to be caring, compassionate, friendly and very efficient and hardworking. The rooms are nice, the food is good, there are lots of activities and outings and the staff are always coming up
with ideas to improve the surroundings and make life interesting for the residents. My father is cared for with kindness and respect and I am very glad that we have found such a lovely home for him.

St John's is simply amazing. Mom has advanced dementia, requiring a lot of nursing care but the team at St John's do so much more than that. The dedication and care and love shown to Mom by the whole team is obvious and genuine and despite her condition, Mom's quality of life has improved already. After
two years of worry we are at last able to (start to) relax, confident that Mom is in good hands and is being looked after in the right place. The ambiance is calming and when the staff talk about 'our little family' it feels just like that. Many of the staff to whom I have spoken have worked there for many years and all are justifiably proud of what they achieve there day after day. St John's is all about the people, staff and residents and I cannot speak highly enough of the home. It really is very special.

Dad needed 24hour nursing and care after suffering a stroke. He moved into St John's Court in October 2016. St. John's Court is so welcoming, it's a wonderful caring home. All residents are treated equally with much respect and dignity. The nursing, care and management are second to none, the activity
team go above and beyond to keep residents as active as possible and keep their interests alive. Every day there is something for them to do. All staff go out of their way to help keep everyone comfortable and happy. The managements door is always open for advice or support. Everyone is passionate about making a difference to their residents, they genuinely care. St. John's Court has taken a lot of pressure and upset away from my family, we know that dad is looked after with care, respect and dignity. I can't recommend St John's Court enough, it's a real gem.
Thank you St John's Court, you should all be proud of yourselves for such a lovely home and for making a difference to your residents and their families.

My Mother was recently admitted to St John's Court Nursing Home and since then her care has been of the highest standard. The Staff have been knowledgeable, friendly and helpful, as nothing is too much trouble for them. The Management have made the process easy and trouble-free. The Home, although busy,
has a relaxed and homely atmosphere and whenever we leave MUM we do so with peace of mind knowing that she is receiving the care she requires.

My husband entered St Johns in June 2014, we were made to feel welcome and comfortable. My husband just preferred to stay in his room, but at all times he was well looked after, he died on March 2015. He spent his last week of life in hospital and died of pneumonia.

Mum originally came to St John's for 6 weeks respite care after breaking her arm. She liked it so much she decided to stay. It will be her fifth year this year and Mum has remained happy and comfortable at St John's. She loves the food and enjoys the entertainment and activities that are frequently
provided. Although mum spends the majority of time in her room contact with staff is frequent throughout the day, she views the them as her 'visitors'. Dental care, opticians and hairdressing are available 'in house' which is great for residents with limited mobility.
I have consistently observed the nursing care to be of a high standard and mum is always presented as clean and well dressed. Any minor niggles normal to care home 'life' i.e lost socks! are always addressed. Staff are caring and friendly. St John's feels like 'home' for mum.
