Sadly, my mum died suddenly but peacefully in July 2017 having lived very happily at Summerdyne Nursing Home for 2 years. Her end of life care was excellent.

Also when we initially looked round care homes, we were able to randomly drop in (no appointment needed) and were given a coffee, a tour of the place and had a very informative chat with a lovely nurse who was extremely knowledgeable about dementia. When we left, although there's no denying Mum was glad to return home (there's no place like home!) she only had good things to say about her stay, and when the time comes for more respite we won't hesitate to use Summerdyne.

Wonderful staff, who treat all of the residents with care and patience. The manager Tula ensures that the home runs well with a firm professional manner but with a kind and considerate aspect to her staff and
The food is wonderful and varied. Activities are regular and plentiful, targeted at all of the residents.
The home is very clean and unlike a lot of homes we have looked at, does not suffer the same unpleasant smells, attributed to the cleaning staff who work so hard.
Any issues are dealt with promptly, although since my mother in law has been resident at Summerdyne (18 months ) they have been too few to mention.

Summerdyne staff consider it a privilege to provide homely care for our residents who we consider as our extended family. It is very important to us that the families and friends of the residents feel supported and helping to achieve a good quality of life that they all deserve.

The staff are genuinely lovely. The entertainment is good and my Dad
The manual handling trainer has got him moving far more than he was at home so he is more independent; she is firm but kind with a big helping of humour.
Our family has now got their lives back, Mum is relaxed and the pressure is off me a little.
I went to have a delicious lunch with Dad today - just let them know you're going and pay £2.50 for delicious home cooked food, sourced from local suppliers.
We couldn't be happier and neither could Dad, in fact he regularly tells me he doesn't want to go home.

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.872) out of 10 for Summerdyne Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.
a) The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.
The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:
a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.
The Average Rating of 4.972 for Summerdyne Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (104 Excellents x 5) + (3 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 107 Ratings = 4.972
b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').
The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Summerdyne Nursing Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:
The 5 points available are broken down as follows:
i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9
ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 29 registered maximum number of service users is 5.8, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1
When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
