My only negative is value for money because most care homes cost £1,000 per week and although this is perhaps the true cost, it should be met by the public sector, that both my parents contributed to all of their working lives. Therefore this statement applies to all privately run care facilities.

Whilst there has perhaps been an unsettled time in previous years in finding strong leadership for the home, the new Manager of Tewkesbury Fields is now in post and has been since October 2016. He an experienced manager with a track record for improving care home services. He is very passionate about person centred care and in activities based upon individuals preferences and individual goals. Our manager operates an open door policy and you are welcome to pop in anytime to discuss any issues.

I just wanted to pick up on and try to address your comments on the activities offered here at Tewkesbury Fields. The Activities team at Tewkesbury Fields offer a range of planned activities and entertainment. We have also introduced our Magic Moments recreation and activities programme to encourage well-being by concentrating in equal measure on the mind, through mental agility; the body, through fitness and mobility; and the soul, through entertainment and personal interests, continued learning and emotional engagement.
We are very fortunate to have a fantastic Activities Co-ordinator who has a very in-depth programme of community activities and we aim to do as many trips out as possible; both in groups but also on a 1 on 1 basis. If there are any specific activities you would like to see more of in the home, we welcome all suggestions. Our residents can share their ideas and opinions whenever they like, so we can be sure everyone’s looking forward to something, every day.
Furthermore, we have recently made some changes to our catering service to enhance our resident dining experience and our “Autumn and Winter Menu” offers a choice of appetising and nutritionally balanced meals. The Tewkesbury Fields team seek regular feedback from residents about the choice of meals served and this helps us to plan our menus, ensuring that all meals offered are appropriate for each resident. If there is anything, in particular, you would like to see featured on the menu, please do not hesitate to come and speak with me and if there is anything you would like to discuss further, you can contact customercare@brighterkind.com or pop into my office anytime.
