There is always a warm welcome from the experienced Welland House team. They believe family inclusion is a priority along with choice and promotion of independence. Working together with residents and their families ensures that they deliver the high-quality care their residents deserve.

Welland House Care Home is located on the foothills of the Malvern Hills, an area of outstanding natural beauty, which is easily accessible from the three adjoining counties Worcestershire, Gloucestershire and Herefordshire.

Although rural they have great community links and access to major events within the area including the Three Counties Showground, Malvern Theatre, Upton upon Severn with its many festivals and Eastnor Castle. Residents can also make use of a lovely café less than a five- minute walk away and the local primary school and church are regular visitors.

This former rectory has kept its charm with the addition of a purpose-built extension, which enables us to meet the individual nursing needs of a maximum of 48 residents split between Single and shared ensuite rooms

The team offer individualised care for both long term, and respite nursing, for those living with or without a diagnosis of dementia, ensuring that dignity and safety are always maintained.

Further services available for the residents are a podiatrist, physiotherapy and hairdresser, though these may incur additional cost. They provide delicious home cooked food, again tailored to individual choice and requirements.

Welland House have a varied and stimulating activities programme to suit resident’s capabilities and interests from music therapy to outside entertainers.

They recognise that choosing a care home may be a difficult and emotional time, and are there to help and guide individuals.

My mother came to Welland Care Home in a frail condition. The staff made her feel comfortable and happy. She began to take an interest in her surroundings and problems such as lymphedema in her legs greatly improved. Sadly due to her frailty she passed away in January but she passed peacefully in her
sleep being well looked after by nurses and staff. We were well informed when we weren't at her side and we are happy Mum spent her final two months at Welland Care Centre.

Thank you very much to the team at Welland House Care Centre who looked after my cousin in the last year of his life. Everybody I met was so helpful and kind. My cousin had a range of difficult health conditions that required nursing care in his last days; these were carefully and competently managed
at Welland. In particular, I would like to thank the manager, who is always up-to-date with details of my cousin's condition without needing to go and check. She was a superstar at keeping me informed/advised.

I would also like to thank the nurse I dealt with most often. Despite being very busy she would always take time to talk to me on the phone or in person if needed. Thank you all, again.

My father has lived in Welland House for over a year now and I couldn’t be happier with the care he receives especially during the awful pandemic.
All the staff are kind, caring, professional and look after my father really well which is a relief when I live 200 miles away. All his needs are met and
I know if anything goes wrong I can rely on the staff at Welland. Brilliant nursing home so looking forward to visiting my father shortly.

In the past few weeks my relative has been with you, I have been very impressed by the service of care. I have had updates and communication from the doctor and members of the nursing team/admin. I have also spoken to the deputy manager and house manager regularly which is rare to do that within most
care home settings. I am impressed with the level of safety with Covid-19 and the lengths gone through to ensure this is all compliant. I feel secure when entering the home that it is clean and safe for my relative to be in, as he is currently on end of life care. I am impressed by the few members of staff I have met so far and their approach and commitment to ensuring my relative is safe and comfortable and I am happy I made the choice to go with Welland House.

Current Review Score: 8.2 (8.162)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.2 (8.162) out of 10 for Welland House Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 3 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.5 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.618 for Welland House Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (22 Excellents x 5) + (11 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 34 Ratings = 4.618

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.544 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Welland House Care Centre is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.25

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 51 registered maximum number of service users is 10.2. 3 Positive Reviews ÷ 10.2 = 0.294

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
