Cheswardine Hall is a family owned and run nursing and residential home, established in 1985. It is located on the Shropshire and Staffordshire border, with close proximity to Cheshire too. The nearest towns include Market Drayton, Eccleshall, Newport Shropshire, with Telford, Shrewsbury and Newcastle-under-Lyme all within 16-18 miles, or a 35-40 minute drive.

The home specialises in the provision of residential, nursing, convalescent and respite care, in comfortable and luxurious surroundings.

The care team consists of fully trained Registered nurses, highly experienced Healthcare assistants and friendly Activities Co-Ordinators. While the domestic teams consists of fully trained Chefs, Cleaning staff, Laundry assistants, Maintenance and Gardening staff.

I have recently spent 5 weeks at Cheswardine Hall Nursing & Residential Home. There was a very friendly, family atmosphere surrounding the home - it felt like home from home. The family running the home made me feel like part of their family. I knew of this home because they looked after my beloved
husband when I could no longer look after him. I was very pleased with the way they looked after him and us as his family at their home. The hall itself is a beautiful house with far reaching views and well maintained grounds. The care of the staff and the standard of food is excellent.

My mum was admitted for palliative care, and we could not have asked for a more peaceful and tranquil place for her to spend her last few days. She was treated with care, kindness and respect by the amazing staff, who looked after her so wonderfully. My mother was treated with dignity, and I and the
rest of my family were given tremendous support, as well as many bolstering cups of tea which were much appreciated.

I cannot speak highly enough about the care my mother received. My mum was in Cheswardine Hall as a palliative care resident. She had a beautiful big airy room, with armchairs, a TV, a big table and chairs, which was very good for when Mum had visitors. The staff became like family always greeting,
smiling, and hugs for us all. We also stayed overnight with Mum and again the staff couldn't do enough for us. It is an amazing place, thank you to all of them for the loving care they have for us all.

My Mum was admitted to Cheswardine for end-of-life care. She was there for only a week but what a wonderful experience for both her and our family. Both the nursing and care staff were attentive and vigilant with her care. They were also pleased to look after her visiting family with plenty of cups
of tea and food where necessary.
I can not speak highly enough of our experience at Cheswardine Hall.

A lovely happy homely place. All the staff are friendly and helpful and always had time for a chat about Mum. We always visited Mum without prior warning but always found Mum to be clean and comfortable. Mum had dementia so difficult to have a conversation but we always felt she was very well cared
for. Despite having many demands on their time the staff was always professional and helpful. Two weeks before she died Mum caught a chest infection - even though she was confined to bed she was lovingly cared for and died peacefully in a warm bed.

I had a bad fall and living on my own was struggling to cope so I booked myself into a care home, not knowing what to expect. I’m 71 and have extensive health issues but mentally 100%.
The home is beautifully situated with lovely large common areas, lovely grounds and large en suite bedroom.
The
staff I found excellent and caring with a nurse available 24/7. The food was varied and adequate.
I was there for 11 nights and had no cause for complaint.
I think I got value for money but have no idea of care home prices.
Most of the residents were aged, infirm and possibly had dementia but I was always able to find a spot in the communal area away from the other residents.

My friend needed short-term care after suffering a bad fall. He himself thought Cheswardine was amazing.
I was bowled over by how good it was. Owners and staff are all very friendly. The building and grounds are like a high-class hotel. As a visitor, it was very relaxing. It is so spacious that we
were able to choose different large rooms and areas to sit. I ended up spending a lot more time visiting simply because it is so easy to relax. It was great for my friend because we ended up just sitting and reading our books, great for me because when visiting I felt that I was treating myself to some downtime in lovely surroundings, all with cups of tea and coffee as a bonus on request!
Another friend of mine has a parent in another care home and is dissatisfied, I have strongly recommended Cheswardine. Fabulous.

My father has dementia and we moved him to Cheswardine Hall just before Christmas last year when Mum became unable to take care of him any longer. This was a particularly traumatic and difficult decision but the manager was incredibly helpful and supportive and we have been absolutely delighted with
our decision to move him there. I can't speak highly enough of my father's care, from the excellent nursing staff and all of the staff who show great kindness, empathy and professionalism at all times. The home itself, my father's room and the grounds are beautiful making our visits there pleasurable and there is always a lovely, warm, relaxed and calm atmosphere. I can't thank the whole team at Cheswardine Hall enough for making something very difficult a little easier and more bearable.

When we needed to find a care home for my mother we felt Cheswardine Hall stood out head and shoulders above the other homes we viewed. The next six years proved our choice to be correct. Mum received the care and attention she needed in beautiful surroundings, which often felt as much like a country
house hotel as a care home. Visiting Mum was a pleasure enhanced by the warm welcome we always received. I would not hesitate to recommend Cheswardine Hall.

We were able to choose this home when our mum was discharged from a short spell in hospital. All our expectations were more than met as our mum received the best possible palliative care. We want to thank everyone at Cheswardine Hall for the care and kindness they gave to our mum in her final days and
in particular the nursing team, who were always one step ahead of our concerns about pain relief and keeping Mum comfortable. This kindness was also extended to myself and brother, who were able to stay in the home for the final period of time with her.

My husband has dementia and stayed at Cheswardine Hall Nursing & Residential Home for ten days whilst I was on holiday. We both had a lovely welcome when we arrived and the room was great. I phoned whilst I was away and was given excellent feedback about my husband. My main points of contact were all
excellent. I met various members of staff when I collected my husband and they were all very kind and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. I am very grateful for the wonderful care and attention my husband received. My husband was very complimentary about Cheswardine Hall and all the staff.

My mother has been a resident at Cheswardine Hall Nursing & Residential Home for over six years and I cannot praise them enough. When she contracted Covid in November I was notified straight away and kept informed about her health every day and fortunately, she recovered very quickly. The home did an
amazing job at keeping the residents all as safe as possible during the pandemic. I don't think they could have done any more, therefore only a few residents actually caught Covid. The food always looks very appetising and my mother says it tastes very good. That is high praise for her as she worked in the catering trade for many years. There is never that smell of boiled cabbage and gravy no matter what time you visit. The staff are always friendly and will always offer you a cup of tea. Although my mother can be argumentative at times, the staff will always smile and have a joke with her. I hope she has many more years living there in those beautiful surroundings. She especially enjoyed the activities when available.

My father has spent the last nine months at Cheswardine Hall Care Home whilst waiting for the appropriate care package to be put in place at his normal place of residence. The team at Cheswardine have always gone the extra mile to ensure that my father is comfortable, safe and well cared for, even during
an outbreak of Covid and gastroenteritis. The extremely personable staff have, without exception, always made me and all my family members very welcome and, more importantly, have seen to the needs of my father when their valuable time and capacity allowed for it. I'm sure given the choice and provided the circumstances allowed it, most residents would prefer to be in the comfort of their own homes. However, Cheswardine has gone and continues to go a long way to making this location an extremely comfortable, peaceful and safe environment for my father and one that is a very good, second best to his own home.

Family owned Cheswardine Care home is a gem, set in beautiful grounds in the countryside. Inside the grand house the large rooms retain their original features so that residents may feel they are living in a luxury hotel. There is so much space for the residents to use. My mum has lived happily at Cheswardine
since 2017. Her care has been exemplary and when she was able to access the wonderful range of activities in the past, she was even more content.
Throughout, my mum has been looked after to a very high standard, staff have encouraged, supported and humoured her even as life for Mum has become more challenging.
Visitors are welcomed, concerns are addressed and the team strives to make later life as comfortable as possible.
In conversations with friends who seek care homes my benchmark is always Cheswardine for quality, compassion and care.

My mother has been a resident at Cheswardine Hall since October last year. She has a comfortable room with en-suite facilities which she appreciates. The staff are friendly and helpful, and she is happy with the care that she receives. Cheswardine Hall is a lovely building in a beautiful setting and
we are looking forward to exploring the grounds as the weather improves. I visit often and enjoy sitting with my mother in the music room, enjoying the view while we chat. It's good to know that my mother is safe and well cared for.

My mother went to live in Cheswardine Hall Nursing & Residential Home in 2017 after suffering a stroke. Her care from the start has been brilliant. Cheswardine Hall is family owned and this shows with the organisation and relationship with the residents, families and staff. At the start of Covid, they
were on the ball, on closed to visitors before the government made it the rule. They arranged for us to visit outside in a tent at first and then built a pavilion, especially for us.
My sister and I are kept well informed about the progress of Mum and want our views on her care. She has been very happy living there.
When you go through the doors you don't feel you are in a care home - just a home - and that is how the team make it feel for the residents.
There is nowhere else in Shropshire that I would wish Mum to be. Thank you to all the staff for the wonderful care you take of Mum.

My stepfather was cared for at Cheswardine Hall Nursing & Residential Home for just over a week while we were away on holiday. (He usually lives with us.) He is a sceptical and pessimistic fellow and very averse to any change, so I was very pleasantly surprised by his positive assessment of Cheswardine
Hall at the end of his stay. He reported that the people were lovely, the Hall was a fine old place and even the food was very nice! If you knew him you would realise this is very high praise from my stepfather!
For myself, I was impressed from the moment I stepped over the threshold: a homely, comfortable environment with 'real' furniture, no luridly-coloured plastic and no lingering smells of over-cooked cabbage. And then I saw the views!
Should I get to be a very old lady, I would be very happy to sit by one of those tall windows and gaze across the acres of parkland all day, nodding off occasionally over my book and relishing the peaceful dignified environment (and visits from Poppy spaniel.)

Cheswardine Hall was and is our family home. I must be one of the few managers in the country to have actually lived in their care home, but did so throughout my childhood - it was great, I had a house full of grandparents to help with my homework!!


Wind the clock forwards a few years and after graduating from university I enjoyed a number of years working for large multi national corporations, based out of London. I enjoyed my time in the 'big smoke' but missed the greenery and the space I had enjoyed throughout my childhood, so along with my own family I moved back home to help my parents, alongside my younger brother to develop Cheswardine Hall and continue the good work they had devoted their working lives to.


Now I am privileged to work alongside my family and the fantastic team at Cheswardine Hall. Where every day is a little different to the last and we get the immense pleasure of welcoming more guests and residents into our family.
