We have dealt with The Lady Forester twice - first a few years ago during covid when our terminally ill father came out of hospital. The care he received and how that difficult time was managed by The Lady Forester we will be forever grateful for. And now our mother is a resident - initially in the
nursing wing, where the care she has received over 6 weeks following a spell in hospital has got her able to be mobile and independent again and move into an independent living flat. Both those sides of the care home are exceptionally managed and we are very happy with the whole environment - the caring staff, the facilities, the quality (and quantity) of the meals, and the flexibility to tailor the care package around the individual.

First-class care, enabling my mother-in-law to recover from a hospital stay and move into assisted living accommodation on-site.
All staff are friendly, caring and helpful.
The meals are exceptionally good value, tasty and nutritious and very much a highlight of the day!

Mum has moved from Lady Foresters to a new luxury care home (she wanted to visit shops).
The new nursing home may look luxurious but the nursing care and the individual attention are nowhere near the standard at Lady Forester. I cannot fault the care from the nurses at Lady Forester. They were experts
in their field and I had complete confidence that Mum was looked after well and any changes in her condition were recognised and treated (this is no longer the case).
In terms of individual attention, Lady Forester allows residents to have their own furniture. In Mum's case she was also given a bowl of chopped fresh fruit each day, which she ate throughout the day (this is proving very difficult to organise at her new home!).
The majority of care staff treated Mum very well (there was just one isolated incident, to my knowledge, when a member of staff was grumpy with Mum, and this is why I gave a 4 rating rather than 5 for care/support, treated with dignity and staff.

All staff are efficient, caring, friendly, happy and always willing to help. It's a very calming and happy environment and we felt that Dad was in very safe hands. Dad very much enjoyed his stay here. Highly recommended.

I have visited a friend in Lady Forester Nursing Home twice in the past month. He appeared to be happily settled and speaks highly of the staff and food. On my first visit, all the residents appeared to be confined to their beds when I thought in the early afternoon residents should have been dressed
and sat in armchairs. I was pleased to note on my second visit at the same time of day that this was the case. My only concern was that on several occasions call bells were rung but left unanswered for five minutes or more. I cannot comment on activities, safety or value for money.

The kindness and professionalism of the staff in Lady Forester is absolutely second to none. The atmosphere is loving and very homely. My mother's care was absolutely first-class. And I have to say that my late husband passed away here in 2018 and he could not have had better, loving treatment.

My father moved into Lady Forester Nursing Home retirement apartments when he was 86 years old and was very happy there for five years. Over that time, he increasingly purchased more care from them which worked really well, meeting his daily needs. Last year he was unwell and hospitalised, returning
to Lady Forester Nursing Home in an extremely poorly state having spent three weeks in hospital... not eating, not drinking and unable to walk. His recovery has been miraculous and I can’t speak highly enough of the care provided. The staff go above and beyond to ensure residents are taken care of with a level of attentiveness that truly sets them apart. The food is great which is so important and makes lunchtime a delight. What truly stands out though is the care, friendliness and compassion exhibited by every member of staff, nothing is too much trouble. My father was adamant he didn’t want to go into a nursing home but he loves it, great peace of mind for his family. Thank you all.

My family has found the services at Lady Forester faultless. As my father's health has changed, the team has responded quickly to adapt to fast-changing needs; they demonstrate that their care and commitment to my father's individual needs are paramount. My father's dignity is observed by all the staff
we see around him and he clearly trusts and respects them too. The public areas are clean and bright and, in combination with the kindness of the staff towards us all as a family, it is a welcoming and positive environment.

I visited my friend nearly every day for the 2 months or so that she was resident in Lady Forester for nursing care following a fall. The staff on the whole especially the Philippino staff were caring. There were however a couple of incidents of disrespect by English staff shown that we both felt were
unacceptable. Equipment needs assessing. TV remote missing, radiator broken, bed kept breaking. Food not on the whole suitable for ageing people. No or very little stimulating activities or conversation with residents. On the whole for the cost, very, very disappointing.

Thank you for your review, we are sorry we did not meet your expectations. We welcome feedback, be it negative or positive, to use as a learning opportunity. I have completed a full investigation into your concerns.
The incident of disrespect, from staff occurred in the first week your friend was with us. Both your friend and relatives confirmed they were happy the incident had been dealt with. They were very complimentary about our service and extended the stay.
The maintenance issues were dealt with within 48 hours of reporting, by our full-time maintenance operative.
We have varied menus with a choice at each meal and cater for people with varied diets.
We provide daily group activities 7 days a week. Your friend was asked each day to participate but refused. She had daily activity time, with conversations about the local villages and how she used to like cruises.
The cost we charge for respite nursing care is comparable, if not lower than other homes in the area.

After a fall and I landed here from the hospital everyone has been very helpful and cheerful, everyone does everything to make everything easier for me, I’m comfortable and warm I’m happy, I’ve come not being able to walk and now I can do this without help. Not having to press my bell anymore. The care
has been fantastic and the food is delicious. I’ve learned to love milkshakes as I have gone off tea and coffee.

My husband returned happily to the Lady Forester Nursing Home having had respite in February. His dementia is such that he has a very short attention span and wanders around day and most nights too! He is very happy and settled. I know that often the thorny issue of “activities” comes up regularly with
regulators and the general public. The staff understand him and his “activity” is to be allowed to wander safely around, seeing smiling friendly staff all day (and night), he isn’t capable of participating in detailed activities but is supported to observe or participate on his terms.


The night staff are so tolerant and allow him to “help” them by wheeling the trolley around when up, giving him a sense of purpose. Activities are not all about playing bingo or crafts, activities should be about giving a resident a sense of purpose, a sense of being a valued member of a community. His advanced dementia means I can no longer care for him but the lovely staff do this with a sense of humour and kindness.

My mother has been in Lady Forester Nursing Home for over three years now. This period has covered the Covid pandemic with all the challenges that presented for the home and family. Throughout, the care offered has been exemplary. We have been informed of mum’s welfare and communication is very effective.
Arrangements to visit were adapted to ensure families could see their loved ones.
Mum is comfortable and well looked after. She is a strong character and has clear views about her care. Staff are available to discuss any issues we have. Sensitivity is shown to any needs or wishes. This has ensured that Mum has been able to develop warm relationships with chosen staff members. An essential part of feeling “at home”.

Professional, understanding, kind, calm and caring is my experience of staff at The Lady Forester Community Nursing Home. Having reached a crisis point with my Mother who has dementia, arrangements were made within days for her to move into the home. Following a thorough assessment, Mum's every need
was met, communication and attention to detail was clearly paramount to fulfill her care. Activities were encouraged with Mum taking up knitting after fifty years, this brought a tear to my eye seeing the Mum I remember doing what she once loved. The highest standard of cleanliness was obvious, immaculate in every sense but lived in. The daily menu was varied, nutritious and delicious- nothing was too much trouble. Knowing that Mum was safe, cared for and happy within Lady Forester Community Nursing Home is everything I could ask for; it is outstanding.

My sister has been in Lady Forester Nursing Home for 11 years plus she is not easy to care for as she has multiple problems. The management is excellent, I can’t fault the care she has, apart from the facilities being excellent I can see genuine affection from the staff for my sister. Both my sister
and the home itself are always scrupulously clean and there is absolutely no “nursing home” smell when you open the door. Because of her problems, inability to read, retain a plot when watching the television, to use her hands, it is difficult to find ways of stimulating her, the nursing home has made it their business to find out what stimulates her and have provided her with the means to access the type of program on the television and iPad that gives her pleasure.
The nursing home is at least two hours drive from where I live, sometimes a lot more, so once or twice I have thought about moving her nearer to me but no other homes I have looked that matches up in any way to Lady Forester.
