Morris Care Centre is a unique Nursing Home located on Holyhead Road in Wellington that provides high standards of specialist care. Its uniqueness comes from its three individual Courts, each dedicated to different types of care.

Wrekin Court is a Victorian building which has been refurbished to provide long and short term stays for elderly frail residents.

The centre provides spacious rooms, each furnished with the latest facilities, from pressure relief mattresses to assisted bathing facilities in specially designed bathrooms. Residents also benefit from comfortable sitting rooms and small dining areas which are conveniently located on each floor. The main dining area can be found on the ground floor and offers a delicious menu of freshly prepared meals every day. A hairdressing salon, shop and pleasant gardens are also available for residents and guests to enjoy.

Wellington Court is a purpose-built unit for the care of physically disabled residents of all ages. The home has a professional nursing team that is expertly trained and the highest standards of care are based on each individual's needs. This can be for respite and short stays or for symptom control and post-operative rehabilitation. The aim is to enable residents to become as independent as possible so they can be in control of their own lives despite their disabilities.

Ercall Court is just a short walk along Holyhead Road and provides specialist dementia care for its 11 residents. Ercall Court brings together the practical and the personal aspects of specialist dementia care in a small, bespoke residence.

I have just taken what I thought was an extra fan down to my mother. When I arrived, I was met by the usual friendly and helpful staff in reception and on mums floor. My issue is that during a heatwave such as we are having, not a single fan was in evidence. Even the fan I put in her room last year
was now faulty so she lay on her bed, rosy in the face and sweaty. I would have thought that the not inconsiderable fees would cover the cost of a fan for each room at least.

Mum entered Morris Care in 2018 when she was a very ill woman. With close attention and sensitive care, the negative trend was reversed and she now has very good health for her age. The pandemic period was very difficult and presented many challenges. Hopefully, we are now through that period and my
mum will continue to relate positively to the sensitive attention which contributes greatly to her improving quality of life.

Being apprehensive placing Mum in a nursing home, firstly, as she required 24-hour care, within a few weeks soon realised this was the correct place for her to be and settled well. This was all due to the care and attention from the staff, reception and to the floor of all the staff housekeepers included,
nothing is too much trouble.

My late mum, aged 93, was transferred from hospital to Morris Care Wellington after breaking her femur, for physio to mobilise so she could return home. What a nightmare time it became. The care staff did their best under the circumstances. Getting through on the phone was a daily grind, both my brother
and I spent hours trying to speak to someone who knew what was going on and how Mum was. They never got her proffered name correct all the time she was there, confusion.com had nothing on the system they blamed constantly for no, or worse wrong, information being passed on. If you complain it makes it worse. When they had lost most of Mum's clothing they would stick her in anything. When looking for the lost clothing there were apparently many boxes to check, that says a lot for a system not working properly. In total seven T-shirt’s, two skirts, one trousers, two night dresses and I lost count of how many pairs of pants went missing. When electrical equipment disappeared that was denied and dismissed by management!

We are sorry you felt your mothers stay was so poor. I did respond to your initial complaint detailing that all clothing coming in with a resident needed to be labelled otherwise it gets lost because our laundry staff are not aware of who it belongs to, you were also informed of what your mother arrived at Morris Care Centre with, and she did not arrive with the electrical items you detailed. There was a very detailed care plan for your mother on our system and this was reviewed at least monthly. I and the General Manager spoke with your mother on a number of occasions to ensure that she had everything she needed and felt safe, she always told us she felt safe and cared for, we are sorry you did not feel the same.

In my opinion, Morris Care Centre is a friendly environment and the level of care is very good. Food has improved dramatically recently, with better presentation, more variety in options and the quality overall. With most of the staff, you can chat to them about all sorts of things that are of interest
to me.

My brother-in-law has lived in Morris Care Centre for the last 23 years, during this time I can only count on one hand a number of times I have had to be concerned, these were dealt with immediately.
The staff have always been very accommodating and welcoming, if there has ever been any problems with
my brother-in-law I have always been contacted straight away.
It's been hard during the lockdown but the staff have kept me in contact with him by FaceTime on a regular basis.

My brother was at Morris Care for a short period his care was bad. He was left with his bell ringing for 50 mins once and was very poorly. The minimum was around 30 minutes. I used to be talking to him on phone and the bell was constantly going no one came. He had to call for help to myself and the
hospital who then called the home direct.
I complained to CQC and then they turned it all around on him accusing him of all sorts from smoking which gave up a long time ago, using his bell for no good reason saying he swears at them and rude.
If anyone wanted to they could check this with his home care team who used to do him and praised him highly on how polite he was. He is in a new home at present due to this home saying he didn't want to stay there but was in fact because I had complained, so really wanted him out. The home he is in now is providing excellent care and always praise him on his good manners.

I had to complain many times about the poor lack of care given. I was left for up to an hour with my bell ringing. I had and have this video recorded as well. The staff spoke to some of the residents like they was nothing and one poor lady was left upset after being ignored for a solid 2 straight hours.

The centre has given excellent care to my relative over ten years. The staff, without exception, go above and beyond, giving the family feel to residents. They are a great help in supporting my relative through physical and emotional times. They provide activities to stimulate and keep engagement with
